Dear all Vters,

I really need a BIG BIG favour from all of you. My friends and I (total of 11 person) will be heading to Surabaya on 11 Dec - 14 Dec 2008, and we had plan NOTHING yet! We have no idea where to stay, we have no idea what to do.

Can any of you give me some idea of what to do and where to stay, ohh, as for where to stay, we prefer to be staying in apartment / resorts where everyone will be in the same place?

1) Is there a bus which i can take from Bromo/CemoroLawang to Kawah Ijen. If so, how is the route like and how long is the journey and what is the fare.
2) Is there a budgetlodge near to Kawah Ijen? Any recommendation?
3) Is there an entrance fee to Kawah Ijen? How much?

Will be making a trip to Surabaya and move on to Mt Bromo and Ijen. Trip is next week. Need help on the following :-
1) How much is the taxifare from Juanda airport to Bungurasih Bus Terminal? How long is the journey?
2) Is there a public transport from the Juanda airport to Bungurasih Bus Terminal? Where can i get it? and if possible is there a schedule of the time?
How much is the fare?
3) Is Bungurasih Bus terminal also known as Purabaya station?
4) Where should i get the package tour for Mr Bromo and Ijen? Is it better to negotiate it at Cemoro Lawang or elsewhere? How much normally is the package and how many days.

I'll be travelling to Java end of August. Will be covering Bandung / Jogja / Solo / Mt Bromo / Surabaya.

Questions:
1. How do I travel from Solo to Mt Bromo? Do I need to get to Surabaya first? If I could skip Surabaya then I'll cover the city only upon my return from Bromo.

2. How do I make arrangement for the Mt Bromo trip? Can be done before I travel to Indonesia? Any recommendation?

3. I'm not that physically fit, so I don't intend to climb Mt Bromo. I read that I can get the sunrise view from other mountains. Any recommendation? How do I make this arrangement?

i have narroed down my choice to Elmi, Inna Simpang, Ibis Rajawali, Grand Kalimas and Narita.

I am tempted to choose Grand Kalimas because they claim they have huge king beds. any reason/s why grand kalimas may not be a good choice. if so which would the best option from the above or any alternative that i ought to consider.

Hi, we are thinking of going to Kawah Ijen after Mt Bromo, and then going forward to Bali after Ijen. We start from Surabaya. After the research, the part from Surabaya to Mt Bromo seems simple enough to do by ourselves. But the segment from Mt Bromo to Kawah Ijen appears more challenging as it may take a lot of train/bus transfer to get there. We don't have much time for this. Therefore, I wonder if it is possible to make such transportation/accommodation arrangement when we arrive in Mt Bromo? Most likely we are staying in Lava View Lodge. Can they make such an arrangement or we'd better just take 3d/2n package tour (include Mt Bromo/Ijen and Ferry to Bali) from Surabaya? I got a quote from Global Adventure Indonesia for 180 Euro per person for such package. I am not sure if that's a good deal. Appreciate if you can provide your experience.

we have three days to spend around the surabaya region. various VT posts indicate that surabaya is a huge port city and may not merit a three day stay. we have threfore considered malang/batu or probolinggo as extensions. could travelling with a baby prove challenging travelling to probo.

how much could taxi fare cost to probolinggo?

we have received some extremely useful suggestions from some members (harish e.g) but would like to cover mt bromo if possible.

i am planning to stay at the katrika graha malang.this hotel claims to be the biggest entertainment centre in malang. is anyone aware of the kind of entertainment facilities available at this property e.g. is is this family entertainment or a karaoke type which might be noise pollutive. how is this property in terms of location - connectivity to the shopping areas and retaurants etc.

is malang (city centre) spread over an expansive area or it could be explored on foot.

Planning to do Yogyakarta tour on March 8-10. Hope to reach Yogya on the early morning of March 8th from bandung by train. What is the earliest train of the day to Yogya? Will it be easy to get a train ticket (bussiness/exclusive) one day before the departure on that time? Any replies will be greatly appreciated.
