shopping !!!!! Posted: Wed November 4, 2009 04:28 PM UTC
Hello,in December my mum and I are visiting and staying in Goslar, can you recommend any nice and reasonably priced cafes and restaurants, also what shops are in Goslar, finally what is the weather like at this time of year ,we are travelling on the 6th of December,we have been to Goslar before but it was in 1978,so I expect it has changed a bit!!! Thank-you for your help.
Some time ago we hosted a team from Freiburg, Germany and had a very nice week with them. We housed all the players with the team my husband used to coach, and two coaches plus two players stayed with us. We all had a great week, and one of the coaches, Fritz, gave me his card.
I just ran into the card and tried to Google the address - I will use an "X" for the street number, but this is the original, then the Google version:
Kolbeweg X, 7800 Freiburg
Google pulls up:
Maximilian-Kolbe-Weg X, 79100 Freiburg im Breisgau
Is Kolbeweg now Maximilian-Kolbe-Web ... and is 7800 now 79100 ?
I realize I've had this card for a very very long time.
Also - is the correct name for Freiburg "Freiburg im Breisgau".
Looks right because they were vey close to the black forest.
I'd love to send him a note, but realize I'm dealing with a very old address.
During October I am planning to visit friends in Hildesheim and Hannover. I am trying to decide whether to stay part time in Hildesheim and part time in Hannover or to stay in Hildesheim for the entire time and take a bus/S-Bahn to Hannover for a day trip.
If there is an S-Bahn connection, how much does it cost? I have also posted the same enquiry on the Hannover Forum.
Is there an S-Bahn that connects Hannover (near central train station) to Hildesheim (train station or specifically Noah Cafe am Hohnsensee)?
During October I am visiting friends both in Hannover and Hildesheim and want to decide whether to stay the entire time in Hannover and "commute" to Hildesheim or to stay some days in Hildesheim and some days in Hannover.
If there is such a connection via S-Bahn, how much does it cost?
I'm planning to spend about 3 days at Lake Constance. I've chosen Meersburg as a base to visit Constance, Lindau and Uberlingen. Is that OK ? Should I visit other ones ?
Hello everyone,
This August i'm going to visit Hannover and i need to go from Hannover bus station to train station and then to go to Alfeld. Is it a long distance between these objects? Is it easy to find the way?
Thanks for your replys

Hi everybody!
Just to start an easy question but impossible for me to find the answer.
The question is What and where is a special 'monument' in Niedersachsen. It's like a grey traffic policeman who is in an red&white stripped base in a roundabout...
I am looking for a place in Hannover that is open all night on a Saturday to Sunday night and allows me to sit in the warmth until my train departs at 6 am from Hbf. McD's, a Turkish restaurant, etc.
I thought about going to the airport, but at the time the concert ends that I am attending there will be no S-Bahn to the airport and I cannot afford a taxi, much less a hotel. The two youth hostels in Hannover are both full already.
We have a tournament we woukd kije to go in Hannover on March 14th and 15th. I looked at all low cost airlines and only Air Berlin flies there and the rate right now is like 180€ each. Can someone give me a list of Low cost airlines that come to Hannover? Maybe I am missing one with a real deal.
Also, any big city (such as Frankfurt) near? Maybe we can fly to a mearby city and then move by train.
Thanks guys and Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it!
Hi,
I'll be staying in Braunschweig (Hansestrasse 90 a) in December and would like to know the best way to travel to Wolfsburg?
I think taxi might be expensive and was thinking about train.
I won't actually be travelling directly to the town but to the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you.
Planning to visit Prague, understand it is better to exchange euros for czk in Hannover. Would like to know who gives the best rate or the best place in Hannover to exchange euros for czk?
I would like to know if there is any facility in Hannover to have a UK visa issued for yoursel? If not, which is the closest city to Hannover where I will have to post / personally visit to issue a UK visa for myself?
Thanks!
Mansi
p.s.- I will be on a Schengen Visa and that<s the reason I need a UK visa to travel to the UK.
My husband and I will be traveling to Germany for the first time. The first few days I will be in business meetings while my husband explores. After the meetings are over, I would like to "dump" some luggage as we will be spending the next week backpacking around Germany. Is there a safe place in the Hannover train station or airport where I could store one or two small suitcases for a week?
If I arrive into Hannover at 16:55 hrs and need to catch the Bahn from terminal 1, level 0 at 18:40 hrs, is that possible? Or is that much time for baggage etc not sufficient?
Also, on the bahn webiste, if I want to enter the Fraknfurt International airport station in the to/from it gives me Frankfurt(M). Is that the right one?
I was wondering about the name(s) of the most common convenience stores in Hannover and Germany? Is it one big supermarket which is wholesale or there are smaller stores all over the city?
Hello,
Prior to moving to Gottingen permanently next March, I'll be there for a few short days at the end of September. I'd really like to be able to pay a virtual visit to any online Toy Stores in Gottingen, and would also be interested in names of Toy Stores if they aren't online too (plus a strasse so I know where to ask directions to, please!!) Many thanks indeed mtc
I am going to be living in Hannover (Germany) for the first time. This is the first time I will be living in a European country as well. I will be there for 4 months only. What's the most reasonable cellphone carrier/plan I should opt?
I am sort of baffled about the exact level of understanding of German required in Hannover. While some people have told me, english is well-understood and spoken, others seem to believe that survival is tough without the knowledge of German.
I am going to be coming to Germany for the first time. I do not know much about the train/buss passes etc. However, I was wondering what would be the cheapest deal that would include easy/anytime transportation on any means of transport, especially on weekends, when I would like to go outside of Hannover as well as Germany, to the neighboring countries.
I will be travelling from paris to hannover and then get to Leer by train .
so i was wondering about the way i can get from the airport to the train station:
- what are the ways ( bus , train and taxi )
- how much the bus , train and the taxi cost
- how much time needed to get there.
I've got a question. Just I would like to know the distance between Hamburg and Hannover cities (Hannover university) and if we live in Hamburg is it a problem commuting to Hannover everyday?

Hi, may I know what would be the tourists’ attractions that I should visit in Hannover? I will be flying and staying over there this summer for 1 week only.
I am trying to locate the temporary graves where british airman were buried on Siedeneer Moor, South East of Sulingen after their plane was shot down on the night of 19 February 1944. They were moved to the Hanover Cemetery in 1945.
