Angkor Wat Accomodation @ FCC Angkor
Posted: Wed June 11, 2008 02:58 AM UTC
Hellooo....i'm going over to Angkor Wat in early aug 2008. I thought of staying at FCC but i have some doubts as what i see over the net may not be as what i'm gonna get when i reach there. Because the pictures posted on the website looks warm and welcoming.

Any VT members can provide some reviews and feedbacks for me. Would definitely appreciate it so much.

Thanks!

Does anyone know how far the Russian Market is from the Phnom Penh hotel ?

Is it within walking distance, or if not, how much is the regular taxi fare there ?

Cheers.

Cambodia Night life and guest house
Posted: Sat June 7, 2008 10:31 PM UTC
Me and a few friends are visiting Cambodia next Jan/Feb and have been looking on the "net" for night life and accommadation. One accomodation seems to popping up on several web sites is Bar DV8. Has any one been here, Whats it like.Other guesthouse/Hotel i have seen is walk about pub/Guest house. Any ideas on hotels and night life would be appresiated. Most bars are classified as Hostess bars. Guess this means the same as in Thailand and what is the price for the beer and services from these hostess bars.

Cambodia increasing luggage limits to Cambodia
Posted: Fri June 6, 2008 06:42 AM UTC
Does anyone know of a way of getting luggage limits increased? I am travelling to Cambodia to work with an aid organisation (Teachers Across Borders)and want to take books for teachers and orphanages. Malaysian Airlines have said no way. The travel agent recommends taking it as hand luggage - surely there must be another way?

Cambodia hiking, diving, relaxation
Posted: Thu June 5, 2008 07:55 AM UTC
Hi,
I am planning to travel from South Korea to somewhere in Asia within the next couple of weeks.
I am having trouble deciding (as usual) where to go.
I'd like to learn how to scuba dive, but don't want to let that be the focus of my trip.
Beach and relaxation, comfortable accommodations, spa, massage, hiking, some cultural focus...all would be good.
Any recommendations that cover as many of the bases that I've mentioned would be most welcome.

has anyone dealt with this company? are they reliable and can they be trusted with creditcard details

i guess we just want to make sure that they are not a "fly-by-night" company

Vanakam, can anyone recommend a few good restaurants in Phnom Penh, along with a short description of their specialities, or what they particularly enjoyed there ?

Would be good if they could also include some restaurants specialising in genuine Khmer cuisine.

Cheers :)

Cambodia Orphanages in Siem Reap
Posted: Mon May 19, 2008 02:34 AM UTC
Vanakam.

My family & I are going up to Siem Reap & Pnomh Penh in early June 2008.

We would like to donate some clothes (t-shirts, etc) to an orphanage there, so that these benefit some under-priviliged kids in need.

Can anyone recommend a reliable orphanage in Siem Reap, specifically one that really looks after these kids, & won't pass these items on to their own cronies or family members ?

Cheers.

Cambodia Bangkok to Kampot
Posted: Wed May 14, 2008 10:48 PM UTC
I want to travel overland and/or sea from Bangkok to Kampot. Can someone advise on the best travel plan, please. Ideally I'd like to do it in a day, but realise I'll probably be doing well to get to Sihanoukville in a day. What is the coastal road like? Is that bridge finally open? What scams are at the border? Are there regular buses on both sides of the border? What is the boat option like? Any up-to-date advice gratefully received.

Cambodia Cambodia and Thailand

My husband and I are planning on going to Cambodia and Thailand next spring. We would love to have some suggestions for planning the trip: \
1) How can we find cheaper flights to these places?
2) Where should we visit? We were thinking about 3-5 days in Cambodia and about 5 days in Thailand.
3) Have you stayed at any places that are reasonably priced but wonderful?
4) What are things that we just can't miss?

Thanks in advance!

Khett Siem Reab angkor wat
Posted: Tue May 13, 2008 01:36 PM UTC
hi

i have done some reading about the wats at angkor and the surrpoundings. these are spread over a huge area.

please share your experience as to how best to see these magnificient temples in one day i.e. suggesting routing so that essetial flavour of this wonder of the world is acchieved. any details like apportioning the time for the more significant parts of the temple would be appreciated.

can the tour be achieved on foot or motorised transportation will be necessry and if so what is the best form of transportation available.

has the infrastructure like public toilets etc improved? i was recently listening to an aussie doccumentary which highlighted that from one hotel in siem reap about twelve years ago there are now more than a hundred hotels. hopefully the infrastructure around the temples has also improved.

Phnom Penh Visa question (including e-visa)
Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 03:43 PM UTC
Hi all,

Me and my wife are visiting Cambodia between the 10-14 August this year. We'll be flying into Siem Reap on the 10th for 2 days, then flying onwards to Phnom Penh for a further 2 days.

Simple plan!

So I looked at the visa situation and found this e-visa thing. I thought I'd go for that. So I filled all the stuff out and paid my money and eagerly awaited the arrival of my e-visa's. And sure enough they did.

But it says the visa expire on the 12 August - the same day we leave Siem for PP. (And exactly 3 months from the issue date!)

I looked on the website and found out that as long as we arrive before the expiry date, then we can stay for a further 30 days. This would be fine, but the fact that we will arrive at PP airport on the day our visas expire makes me worried. I'm aware that we will have just flown a domestic flght, but what if someone wants to check our visa's?

Basically, can someone settle my mind. I don't fancy having to pay another $50.

Regards

Jason

hi guys,
would anybody know if I can
get the Phnom Penh to Shinukville
bus to stop oposite the airport to
pick me up next week instead of having
to get a motorbike into phnom penh to
catch the bus from the market that passes
outside of the airport anyway. I noticed
last year that a couple of people got off
the bus at the airport when it was travelling to
phnom penh.

Cambodia Direct bus from Saigon to Siam Reap. Can anyone help please?
Posted: Thu May 8, 2008 03:15 PM UTC
I've heard that there is now a bus going DIRECTLY from Saigon to Siam Reap - not via Phnom Penh - but I cannot find any details.
Has anyone used this? Do you know which days it leaves Saigon and at what time?
Also does it cross into Cambodia at a point where you can get a Cambodian visa or do you need one in advance?
I have less than 5 days from when I arrive in Saigon (Sunday 04.30am) to when I fly out from Phnom Penh (Thursday 4.30pm) but am wondering if this just might make it possible for me to spend a day in Saigon, get to Angkor Watt briefly, and then get down to Phnom Penh the day before my flight out? Is this just too ambitious or would it be possible?
I leave in 3 weeks time and any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
