Amalfi Amalfi coast on a bad ankle
Posted: Sat March 29, 2008 11:59 PM UTC
My wife and I have doing a long-planned trip to Italy, including a week in the Amalfi area in June. Unfortunately, she has recently suffered a bad ankle fracture and significant ligament damage. She will only be out of a cast 4 weeks, and prognosis is for a long rehab.

Originally, our plans had been to do some town-to-town trekking, but that's now out. Currently, we have a B&B in Positano, seemingly about "midway" up the hill, but I'm concerned just how difficult it will be to get around Positano, or any other Amalfi town. The tour books all emphasize the hills and steps of Amalfi.

Has anyone had experience as a less than fully abled (but fit) person in Amalfi.

Thanks
John

how late can you leave amalfi to get to rome by public transportation
1) i was told you need to get to naples (either by bus or ferry)
2) then from naples you take the eurostar to rome
does anyone know how late the eurostar runs out of naples- 830 pm? and how early we should leave amalfi to safely catch that train

Amalfi arriving to amalfi by ferry
Posted: Wed November 28, 2007 04:20 PM UTC
We are flying into Naples June 8 2008 and would like to possibly arrive in amalfi by ferry-
1) we were advised to take the bus from the airport to the train station
2) possibly take a taxi for approx 15-20 euros from the train to the harbor
Does anyone know if this is the best way to arrive at hotel la bussola on amalfi which is near the harbor?
What is the ferry schedule liek that time of year? if we miss one ferry, how long do you have to wait for the next one? which company is best and do you get good views?

Amalfi Driving from Amalfi to Sicily on the west coast?
Posted: Thu October 4, 2007 06:08 PM UTC
I appreciate any advice. How long will it take? Are there any good places that are must sees? Or should I take the Autostrade directly to Sicily? Or should I just concentrate on the coast road and skip Sicily? I have 7 days for the round trip.
Thanks,
Dan

Amalfi Where to stay along Amalfi Coast
Posted: Tue August 21, 2007 08:40 PM UTC
My husband, teenage daughter and I are planning a one week trip to the Amalfi coast the last week of October. We have been to Italy many times, but never south of Rome! We mostly love to shop, eat, drink wine and just enjoy the "life" in Italy. We are also interested in the art and architecture. Which town is the best to stay in? With a teenager I'd love to find a 2 bedroom suite or apartment for $500 or less per night. Is that possible? Any recommendations?

Thank you!

Amalfi Attire for men on Amalfi Coast
Posted: Mon June 11, 2007 04:24 AM UTC
We're leaving soon with three other couples for two weeks on the Amalfi Coast. When we've travelled in Europe before my husband has always worn shorts for sight-seeing during the day and long pants at night in restaurants. The other men are thinking about the appropriateness of wearing dress-type shorts at dinner. From my experience, Italian men don't usually wear shorts, but we are tourists after all. Are there any Italian men out there who can give us some advice? Grazie!

Amalfi Hotel Aurora or Hotel La Bussola in Amalfi
Posted: Mon October 30, 2006 01:02 AM UTC
I will be arriving in Amalfi in July by Sita Bus from Salerno and would like a hotel within walking distance of the bus stop, as I will be taking an number of bus trips to local towns, Sorrento etc. The above hotels seem to fit this criteria - can anyone comment. I would prefer a hotel with balconies or terrace and definitely a sea view.

Amalfi Day trips on Amalfi coast
Posted: Fri September 1, 2006 10:37 AM UTC
Can you get a hop-on/hop-off ticket for a trip along the Amalfi coast? I'll be staying in Sorrento, and would like to visit a few of the town, eg. Positano and Ravello. What would be the best way to do this? Also, if you go on the boat trip do you get the opportunity to stop in these towns along the way?
Can you see two towns properly in one day?

Thanks

Amalfi Something Special

Any thoughts regarding a special place, preferably along the Amalfi coastline, that will take 14-16 adults, for a special celebration. Could be individual units or one nice villa. Something with a little pizzazz possibly!

Amalfi Ravello Wedding
Posted: Wed June 7, 2006 08:16 PM UTC
Hi
Can anyone help me please, I'm attending a wedding in Ravello in July and would like to take my 8 year old daughter to a hairdresser beforehand. (I am totally useless when it comes to this sort of thing, takes me about 2 hours just to tie her hair back into a ponytail). We are staying in Praiano and the wedding's not until the evening so anywhere along the coast would be convenient. I have tried websites for the area but not managed to find any information yet. If anyone has any suggestions they'd be gratefully received

Thanks

Amalfi Almafi or Positano?
Posted: Thu February 16, 2006 12:52 PM UTC
My husband and I be travelling to the Almafi coast in early October to celebrate our anniversary. We plan to spend a couple of days in Rome then to either Almafi or Positano to use a home-base to explore the area for 4 days. Should we stay in Positano or Almafi? We want picturesque and romantic as well as convenient - is there such a thing?

We will be in Amalfi in May and were planning on taking the SITA bus to Salerno where we will be getting on the train to Sicly. I see that there is a ferry that goes from Amalfi to Salerno, could you please tell me how long it takes to get there? Also, will Mid May be considered summer for hours on the ferry? Or will they even be running in May.

Thank you,

Amalfi Where to Stay
Posted: Tue January 10, 2006 09:05 PM UTC
Hi Everyone

I'm spending 4 days in the Amalfi Coast in May but I'm not sure whether I should stay in Amalfi, Positano or even Sorrento. I want to explore as much of the area as I can but also not be to rushed. Which is the best town to stay in?

Also, is it better to visit Pompeii from Naples or is it just as easy from the Amalfi Coast.

Cheers
