Hello,
Can anyone please tell me if it is easy to book a minivan for a private day tour of P.Montt/P. Varas once we get to the port or should we book in advance? And if we must book ahead of time, any recommendations for tour guide/agencies? Our cruise ship will be there on Dec.20,2007 and will be tendered from 8:00AM-5:00PM. Any tips for a day itineraries of "must see"? Thank you very much.

How long from santiago to Puerto Montt by bus? Is a safe travel or the roads are dangerous?

When is the best time for fly fishing. Does anyone know of a good and cheap fishing guide or the best fishing lodge. Any information on the fly fishing anywhere in Chile would be helpful.thanks

My wife and I arrive in Puerto Montt this June 26th, 2007 in the morning. We plan to take the two-day lake crossing tour to Bariloche on the 27th. My questions are:
1. Should we spend the one night in Puerto Montt or in Puerto Varas? We are willing to pay up to $80 or so for the one hotel night and would like a nice, convenient location for one afternoon of touring. Any suggestions for hotel/hostel?
2. If you had one afternoon to spend in the area like us, what would you do? where would you go?

I'm planning to travel 11 days from Puerto montt to Balmaceda in March.
Car hire is excessive for only one person, is there other ways to do that route that is worth trying, example: Bus?
Anyone want to do same to try to share a car?

i unfortunately only have 4 days for the lake district and would appreciate an advise as to whether a drive from Temuco to Puerto Montt is still meaningful in such a short time?

Also, what would be the best places to see on the way, considering the time constraints?

Finally, are there any recommended car rentals that would allow me to rent a car in Temuco and drop it off in Puerto Montt?

A friend and I would like to do some backpacking in Pumalin Park. We have extensive backpacking experience and we are looking for a moderate to difficult trail. We were looking at the Puelo Ventisquero Trail and I was wondering how to get to the trailhead from Puerto Montt?

Hola... My wife and I need to get from Puerto Montt to Bariloche on March 12th and need help finding/considering how to do the trip.

We wanted to take the boat/bus combo ( www.crucedelagos.cl) but it appears they only operate until March 11th.

We also looked into the bus (www.andesmar.com.ar) but we are unable to figure out the time table (where is Puerto Montt listed as a departure point, what is the name of the bus terminal in Puerto Montt).

We also looked into the possibility of flying via LAN Chile, but they do not offer a flight on either of the days we can go (March 11th, 12th). We are even interested if we can arrange a private flight from Puerto Montt to Bariloche.

Any help would be appreciated (websites, names/phone numbers, Tourism contacts, travel agent contacts, etc).

- Is it possible to do the trip individually or is taking a travel agency mandatory?
- What did you pay for your trip?
- Is it advisable to book in advance?

I have already asked some agencies, but they all either refuse me, or advertise very high price (I must pay full price for group). My husband and I are considering taking the 3night/ 4 day Navimag ferry from Puerto Montt to Ponte Natales and were wondering if anyone had done it and if so, what were your experiences? We have heard somewhat mixed reviews but it makes sense in terms of covering a long distance and getting to see something other than a bus window. Postive and negatives welcome.

Tony & Gary are visiting the lakes in early Jan 2005 and would like any information on cycle hire.

My friend and I will be in Chile during the early part of January, 2004. We wish to cycle for roughly 4 days in the lakes area around Puerto Montt, and would be grateful for any information on cycle hire and accommodation. We would try to take in the Volcan Osorno area en route, and are both keen birdwatchers.

I am planning to take the Tur-Bus company day bus from Puerto Montt to Santiago leaving at 08:00 and arriving at 22:00. It is a 14 hour ride! Does somebody know if the bus make any stop breaks during the trip (e.g. lunch, toilets, etc.)
