Arriving in Bari from Dubrovnik Posted: Mon September 14, 2009 08:48 AM UTC
Hello all, I wanted some advice about how to get to Napoli (Naples) the moment we arrive in Bari. We will be coming from the ferry from Dubrovnik.
How does one get to the train or bus station from the PORT AREA? Is there a regular bus?
Are there many trips to Naples from Bari by both bus and train?
Which is faster and which is cheaper?
By the way, I heard there are ferries from Bari to Patras.
From Bari, is the ferry ride to Patras a safe and pleasant journey? No big waves? Or should I get ready for sea sickness? We plan to travel in Spring.
How often are the ferries to Patras? Daily? Are there many companies that do this route?
Thank you for all the advice.

Luggage Storage in Bari Posted: Thu May 28, 2009 01:30 PM UTC
I'm catching a ferry to Bari from Corfu and will be arriving at 7.30am. I need to fly to Rome. I did find a cheap flight that leaves the same day I arrive at 10.45am but i'm worried won't make the flight on time. My other option is to fly out at 5pm but this leaves me with quite a few hours in Bari. Is there anywhere in the town I can store my bag while I walk around and do some sightseeing? I will have a giant backpack so don't really want to spend all day carrying it around with me.
Cheers

Only Three (3) Hours! Posted: Fri May 1, 2009 08:58 PM UTC
Hello, Our cruise ship is docking in Bari for 3 hours on Tuesday, May 19th and I am wondering if it is worth even getting off the ship. We find the cruise ship excursions very expensive, but would like to "see what we could see" in this short time. Are there any sites? shops? restaurants? near the pier? How far from the pier to the Old Town? What could we possibly visit in this time? Thanks in advance!!!

Naples to Bari by bus/ buying ferry tickets at the port - local experts help please!!!!! Posted: Mon February 2, 2009 10:07 AM UTC
I believe there are at least 2 or 3 bus companies that offer a bus service departing Naples for Bari. Both Mazzotti & Marinobus and Mako operate bus services - I think Marino Bus has a service leaving about 12.30pm and arriving in Bari about 4.30pm. Both bus companies have websites online for bus tickets however both sites are a little tricky to navigate timetables and tickets as they are both in Italian only.
My son & his girl have Eurail 2nd class Youth passes and wish to buy walk on tickets for the bari to patras ferry at the port before boarding.
Unfortunately they can't book ferry tickets online - as Superfast/Blue Ferries don't offer online bookings for Eurail passholders which offer them free deck seating for the ferry crossing plus a fee for fuel surcharge and embarkation fees.
As they are travelling on a Monday evening, the 1st of June, we think that they should be able to secure walk on deck seats on the ferry providing we arrive 2 hours before boarding(8pm)as recommended by Superfast ferries.
My son is travelling by train in the morning from Sorrento to Naples in the morning. The 2.15pm train from naples via caserta to bari gets them to Bari too late at 6.15pm. (Then they must get from the train tot he ferry)
I have read quite a few blogs on this subject from other travellers who seem to have similar transport problems to us.
If any member can give us any information or advice that can help us we would much appreciate it.
Thanks
M.G.

help on accomodation in summer 2009 in possibly Bari Posted: Fri November 7, 2008 11:18 AM UTC
Dear friends,
I'm in a serious lack of help, please, share all your experience, which I would appreciate highly! And anytime you need mine, I'm all yours! :)
The thing is that we (two young couples and a single friend of ours) are coming to Italy on the 28th of june and are staying untill the 12th of july. We're looking for an unexpensive way to spend our holidays by the sea...But as we've never been to Italy we don't know what to start our search with and where to look for rental suggestions. We are looking for any nice region by the sea side, where the house or an appartment or nice bungalo even would cost 1000 euro per two weeks per whole maximum (for the perioud of our staying)...might be a fisherman's village or a small town..whatever...We personally are more interested in a small kinda ethnic fisherman's house near the sea, than an appartment in a new built cottage. We are not that much concerned about the condition, you know..it should just be nice and romantic :)...Could you please be so kind to recommend us some regions where we should look for such an accomodation? Do you think we could find something nice (pretty near to the sea) by 1000 euro max in the perioud? Where (what web sites) can we look for such rental suggestions? Thank you in advance for any kind of information!!!Yours forever, Masha from Russia :)

Getting from the airport to Bari Posted: Thu September 11, 2008 07:16 AM UTC
My husband and i need to get from the airport to the central train station. We don't want to pay for a taxi, so is there a bus we could take? If so how often does the bus run?
One more question, if we make a reservation on a train to Lecce ahead of time, but we get to the train station in time to take an earlier train, can we use the same ticket for the earlier train?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Maureen
