Our family of 5 will be staying in belaggio and need to get to Milan as early as possible in the morning. Leaving from our hotel near the water, how do we get to the train to get to Milan? How early is it possible to get to the train station that can take us to the fastest train to Milan? Grazie!

My husband & I will be arriving in Milan via train and plan to go directly to Bellagio. We plan to stay 3 nights at the Grand Hotel Villa Sirbelloni --- any comments on if it is worth the price and if 3 days will be too long? We plan to rent a car from Milan & drive to/from Milan train station keeping car for stay -- is a car more of a nuisance than asset there. We will be going on via train from Bellagio to Venice.

This past summer we were in Bellagio and visited an antique store which was on a side street but had a display window on the main street, just down from Azalea clothing store. Does anyone know how I can contact the antique store? Thanks for any help you can give me.

We are traveling from Bellagio early on the 15th to arrive in Parma by 9-9:30am. Is this possible given we have to take both a ferry and a train? I can't find the earliest ferry departure time and not sure how long it takes to arrive at the nearest train station.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

We will be in Bellagio in mid-September; from Bellagio we will go on to Venice. I am wondering if there is an alternative way to go from Bellagio to Venice other than the train route that goes from Como to Milan to Venice? Are there suitable buses or car services (not car rentals)?

Thanks to all to any who consider this question.

We will be driving from Lucca to Lake Como in July. We have a 3 night rental in the town of Bellegio. I will be driving up from Lucca in a rental. Haven't decided which rental company -Hertz or AutoEurope. We will be arriving in the Lakes area on a Sat. Could someone advise me on the best place to ditch the car and catch a ferry/bus/ to our place in Bellegio??

Is there anyone out there that would recommend that we keep the car? I've heard that finding a place to park in July is brutal (hotel does not have parking) so I'd prefer to rely on public transportation.

Hello, I need to go from Belagio(or Varenna) to Riva del Garda in as quick a time as possible via public transportation. So far the best I have been able to come up with is bus to Lecco, train to Brescia, bus to Riva. Does this make sense? Any other options? Thanks so much for any help. Sincerely, peter

we are travelling from bergamo airport to bellagio in mid september.
it looks as though the best option is bus/train then ferry.

Any help on finding the bus from the airport to the railway station, getting the right train, changing trains and finding the ferry station?

Also, is there a weekly ferry ticket available, what does it cover and can we buy it when we arrive to go to bellagio?

We do not speak Italian and wonder how easy our journey will be?

Many thanks in advance.

My wife and I will be spending 3 days in Bellagio and arriving from Venice. Is it best to just take the train from Venice to Bellagio (if that is possible)? Or I am best taking the train from Venice to Milan, then train Milan to Varenna? Someone said that if I take the train to Varenna, I can then just take the ferry to Bellagio and it is much faster, cheaper, and easier(???)

Also, does anyone have any good recommendations for staying in Bellagio? Hotel preferred, but open to staying in a B&B (never have been before).

Thanks.

We are a family of four and will be staying in Lezzeno, near Bellagio, at the end of October. We need to make it back to Bergamo airport on Monday 27th October for a 10am flight home (so need to get to the airport around 9am). Is it possible to make it to the airport this early on public transport - we had hoped not to have to hire a car during our stay.

Thanks very much

I am considering a week rental in Bellagio next June with my two daughters, who will be 5 and 8. We are thinking that staying for a week somewhere may be best so we don't wear them (and ourselves) out with driving around to different towns and hotels. It also seems more economical to rent an apartment than stay in a hotel. We will also add on a few days perhaps in Milan and/or Venice at either end of the trip.

My question is whether a week in Bellagio is too much? Can the children swim in the lake? What else is there to do. My husband and I would be happy to sit and read a book, but the kids probably want a little bit of action! We plan to have a car and will be able to do day trips (i understand Switzerland is not far).

Overall, is Bellagio a good place for a family?

Thinking of staying in the village of San Giovanni in september - how easy is it to get to Bellagio each day. We will not have a car, on some review sites it says the road is dangerous to walk as there is no pavement? Does anyone have any info? If we went into Bellagio in the evening for a meal would there be taxis available to come back?

We are traveling to the Lake Como area (staying in Menaggio) and will want to spend some time in Bellagio. There are six of us and I am picking up the tab. (I am a good parent!) Can anyone recommend some great eateries at a reasonable price? Also, if you are familiar with Menaggio and can answer the same question for that wonderful little town, I would greately appreciate it!

I was planing to stay in Varenna for 5 days at the beginning of june but am now considering Bellagio. Why? I want a bit of buzz and activity - lots of options for dining. I've read wonderful things about Varenna. Any thoughts either way? Thanks for your time and consideration.

Hi,
We are planning a trip to the lake Como region and were attracted to Bellagio but it seems that accommodation is booked out far in advance. We are looking for a waterfront hotel or apartment and wonder if Como or elswhere on the lake is as good. Maybe some travellers have experiences that they could pass on.

Hi, we are travelling to Bellagio in October. Can you please tell me if there are plenty of ferries leaving from Bellagio to Como in October. We will be trying to get to Como S. Giovanni to catch a train that leaves at around 9:00am. I have looked at the ferry timetables (which I can't really understand anyway) and they do not have a timetable for October. I don't want us to miss our train. Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Hello, I'm off to Lake Como with my MOM, 75 in October. Trying to find a nice hotel, not too romantic (I'll be with my mom LOL), Lake Front and easy access...any suggestions?
I will probably want to scoot off to Venice for a couple of days, will need a break, how many travel days will I need to allow to/from Varenna - Venice? 1/2 day each direction?
Thanks!

I will be arriving in Bellagio on October 12th. I am planning on taking the train from Florence to Milan and then to Varenna, finally taking the ferry over to Bellagio.

I will be departing Bellagio on October 15th, headed to Venice. I am planning to reversing my route to Milan and then taking a train from Milan to Venice...but I've heard that I can also take a ferry from Bellagio to Como and then just one train from Como to Venice.

So I'm kind of torn and unsure of what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've never traveled In Italy via train before...and I'm a bit nervous.

Also...do you just drag your luggage on the train with you???

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I am hoping someone can help me with this. I am trying to book transportation from Bellagio to Venice for Friday September 28. I am staying in Bellagio and wish to get to Venice by 12-1PM.

I plan to ferry from Bellagio to Varenna
Train from Varenna to Milan
Train from Milan to Venice

Questions??? Does anyone know how long it takes to ferry from Bellagio to Varenna?
I found the link below, but I am not sure if it contains arrival times or if I am even reading it right.
http://www.navigazionelaghi.it/eng/com/ora/nlc_ora_t1a_e.html

I found a train leaving Varenna Esino at 7:25AM, arrives in Milan 8:30AM
Then I found a train leaving Milan at 9:05AM and arriving in Venice at 12:09 PM

This means my ferry departing from Bellagio needs to arrive in Varenna before 7:25AM to leave me enough time to get there. I see on this schedule that there is a ferry departing Bellagio at 6:20, via Menaggio to Varenna, but I have no idea when it's scheduled to arrive in Varenna. Please help :)

Can anyone help me with understanding the transportation from Bellagio to Como.

If I am reading the schedule correctly, on Friday, September 7 there is a hydorfoil that leaves Bellagio at 11:21 a.m. and arrives in Como at 12:11 p.m. I want to book the train from Como to Venice that leaves at 12:54 p.m. Do you think we will have enough time to get from the Ferry to the Train Station (we will only have about 40 minutes)? The station is Como S. Giovanni

I have read that it only takes 15 minutes by taxi from the ferry to the train station.

One last question, are the hydrofoils generally on time?

Tante Grazie.

I am traveling to Bellagio from France. Is it better to drive around the lake or take the ferry from Cadenabbia? Also where is it a good and "safe" place to park?
Any help would be appreciated.

How do you get from the Milan train station to our hotel in Bellagio? Is there a train directly from Milan to Bellagio, or do we take the train to Como and then ferry to Bellagio? I am sure there is a simple answer to this common question but this seemed the best place to get it! Thanks for any suggestions.
