Bergamo deperate for assistance
Posted: Fri August 14, 2009 08:40 PM UTC
Good afternoon Could you answer this question
We are scheduled to stay in Bergamo Italy on September 1st and 2nd and leave on September 3rd
On September 2nd we would like to do a day trip to Lake Como
I understand the 3 main towns are Varenna, Menaggio and Bellagio and ferry boats travel between the town every hour
How would we get to one of these 3 towns from Bergamo
I understand there is a train to Varenna, but you have to change trains in Leco and if we left on the 9.15 train we would not arrive until after 11.00am
I was hoping there was a better way

Bergamo Cheap one night stay in Bergamo
Posted: Fri July 31, 2009 07:03 PM UTC
Any suggestions for a triple room in Bergamo? One night. 3 young people waiting for an early flight next day. Close to airport but of course they also want to experience Citta Alta. B&B? Nothing fancy, just sleep and cheap

Bergamo Bergamo airport transfer
Posted: Mon July 20, 2009 04:52 PM UTC
Does anyone know of the best way of getting from Bergamo airport into the centre of Bergamo (near the station - have a B&B booked) fairly late at night? We land at 22.20, which appears to be when the last bus goes, so won't make that. Have had quotes of €21-€25 so far, which seems a little excessive to travel less than 5km.
Thx!

Bergamo Bergamo in early October
Posted: Fri July 17, 2009 07:16 PM UTC
Hi

Does anyone know what Bergamo will be like in early October, for example, will there be many tourists around, or have I picked an out-of-season time to visit when it will be totally deserted with nothing to do? Chloe

Bergamo Arriving late in Bergamo, need a Hotel
Posted: Fri July 17, 2009 11:42 AM UTC
Hi

I'm a newbie to the site. Hi all.

I will be arriving on a late flight to Orio Al Serio Airport (Bergamo) later this month and am looking for a hotel as close as possible to funicular station where the shuttle bus terminates.

Travelling alone and on a budget I need something within walking distance from the station if possible.

I am only staying for the night then visiting the lakes.

Can anyone recommend anywhere.

Thank you

Bergamo BERGAMO AIRPORT TO LAKE COMO
Posted: Wed July 15, 2009 10:42 AM UTC
Hi, does anyone know how long it would take to get from Bergamo airport to Lake Como? I've never been to LakeComo before, so am unsure of the best resorts to visit, but as I'm only visiting for 2 days, would guess that the South shore would be most time-efficient, therefore probably Como as a starting point??

Is there a direct train from Bergamo train station to Como and if so how long would it take?

Thanks, Simone

Bergamo Hotel recommendations
Posted: Sat July 4, 2009 10:43 AM UTC
Hi everyone:

Is there any area in Bergamo I should avoid regarding the hotel? I look for a place close to the centre, station and bus/train to/from Orio airport (maybe it's a too obvious question)

Bergamo TRAVEL FROM BERGAMO AIRPORT TO GARGNANO
Posted: Fri June 26, 2009 06:00 PM UTC
Can anyone give me information on the cheapest private transfer from Bergamo airport to the small town of Gargnano on the west side of lake Garda. I will be travelling with my husband in July and have checked some taxi sites but they seem very expensive for just 2 people. I believe there are also shuttle buses but I wonder if they stop at lots of stops, making the journey perhaps a bit uncomfortable. Many thanks

Bergamo Driving from Bergamo to Varenna
Posted: Mon June 15, 2009 05:29 PM UTC
We plan on renting a car in Venice and driving to Bergamo and making that our home base for 4 days.
From Bergamo we would like to do a day trip to Lake Como. From what I've read, we can take a ferry in Varenna to Bellagio and other towns on the lake.
My question is how difficult of a journey will it be driving from Bergamo to Varenna.

Thank you

Bergamo Bergamo to Lake Orta
Posted: Sat March 28, 2009 10:20 AM UTC
I am travelling to Lake Orta in May for a wedding & can get a reasonably priced flight to Bergamo. Is it possible to travel by train to Lake Orta without going into Milan first? I think you can get a bus to the train station @ Bergamo from the airport.

If anyone has the answer do you also have any idea of the cost?

Thanks for all your help.

Bergamo staying overnight
Posted: Tue February 10, 2009 02:36 PM UTC
Hi, I will have to stay one night in Bergamo, Thursday 12.02.09 from 22.00 until 5.00AM, waiting for another flight and I don't want to book a hotel. Is the airport open overnight? I would like to walk the city, any place open late? I won't be wearing anything smart, so please don't send me to stylish places :-) I am looking for some decent bar/pub/no disco, where one can keep himself warm. Grazie.

Bergamo What to wear February?
Posted: Mon February 9, 2009 12:15 PM UTC
Hi, I'm gonna be in bergamo for 3 nites over Valentines wkend and was just wondering wot i should be packing? I'm assuming it will be quite cold there so warm clothes and a big warm coat are a must i'd imagine. I went to Milan for a wk a few yrs ago and found that everyone was super stylish and dressed up regardless of weather - is it like that in Bergamo. I'm flyin with ryanair so packing space limited so wanted to get advice on how dressed up people actually get going out at nite and are they all as stylish as they were in Milan?! Also does it rain a lot there (i'm from Ireland where it rains all the time!) Thanks.

Planned to visit Bergamo 9 and 10 of February. I'm looking for someone to guide me through the city. You don't have to do it for free of course, willing to pay a reasonable fee. Interested? Let me know, and eventually send me your proposal.

Kind regards,

Bergamo Dolomites, Lakes, or Cinque Terre at Christmas in Italy?
Posted: Wed December 10, 2008 03:35 AM UTC
Dolomites, Lakes, or Cinque Terre at Christmas in Italy?

I don't know where to spend the Holidays in Italy? On December 16, I have to leave Bergamo, and I can go one of three directions, all leading to different parts of Italy. Eventually I will see most of it, but it's where to go first, and specifically where to go during late December I'm concerned with.

After Bergamo, I can head

1) South to the Liguria coast, Cinque Terre, and up to Genoa
2) East to Brescia, Lake Garda, and up the Dolomite Alps to Trentino/Alto Adige, and on to Belluno before turning around (note: I don't like skiing, thought I love scenic photography)
3) West to Lecco, Como, Maggiore lake district

There you have it, three clear options. So where would you go first, and why? Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Note: The two destinations that don't get picked will be seen in January.

Bergamo Visiting Fuipiano Imagna
Posted: Sun November 2, 2008 10:03 PM UTC
Please help! My boyfriend and I have found a hugely recommended hotel to stay at in Fuipiano Imagna in the Bergamo area for a short weekend away at the end of November and we'd love to find out more about the surrounding area. We both have a real love of the mountains and nature.

We both love hiking and ski-ing and wondered if anyone could recommend any good walks in the area or nearby ski resorts that may be open at the end of November (subject to snow of course!).

We'll have a hire car so can be flexible.

Thanks!

Bergamo train travel
Posted: Tue July 22, 2008 10:15 PM UTC
Hi all, Me again!

With a week to go, we are wondering about prices, particularly re train travel (as this will probably be our most likely method of transport). Anyone got an idea/ examples of how much it costs.

Would especially be interested in costs from Airport to bergamo, and to the lakes.

Thanks again
