| Stuttgart | Short stopover in Stuttgart Posted: Mon July 9, 2007 10:46 AM UTC
I'll be in Stuttgart for two hours in August. Instead of just sitting at the station for two hours, I'm thinking of taking a stroll into town. Can anyone tell me how long (more or less) it would take to walk the following route:
From Hauptbanhof down Koningstrasse to Schlobplatz, then from Schlobplatz to Marktplatz via Schillerplatz, then into Muntzstr back to Schlobplatz, then from Schlobplatz into the park area with the Art Gallery, and then past the pond/lake into Puttitzweg and back to Hauptbanhof I'll be in Stuttgart on a Sunday (after 11:00). Many thanks. |

| Stuttgart | Bus from Hbf to Airport Posted: Tue April 17, 2007 10:58 PM UTC
Many years ago I caught a bus from the Hbf to the airport but as both areas have undergone a lot of changes in that time could someone tell me if this is still the case. Where does one catch the bus? I am familiar with the Ausgang that leads to Koenigstrasse. It was a bus direct to the airport, not a suburban bus.

I would be arriving at Stuttgart at 6 am on March 30th, 2007. I would be travelling onward to Baden Baden to see the Black Forest. Please let me know if there is a bus that would get me there and if yes, the details of this bus (when it leaves Stuttgart, from where, which metro station is closeby, how many hours the journey would be.

| Stuttgart | Best (most affordable) way to purchase train tickets Posted: Fri March 23, 2007 03:14 PM UTC
We were wondering what the best way to purchase tickets for train travel in Germany is. We visited last year, and got some great advice. Turns out that the eur-rail pass is expensive and most of the travel we did we just purchased the tickets as we needed. Is a 4 or 5 day pass the best way to go? Is there another we could get? or should we just buy the tickets as we need. Looking to travel between Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich and Hamburg.
Thanks for any and all info! See you in Germany! Jim & Rebecca |

| Stuttgart | B&B / appartment in Stuttgart Posted: Mon February 19, 2007 03:43 PM UTC
Hallo,
I'll be in Stuttgart for 10 days the first week of September. I'm traveling with two friends, and we would like to rent an apparment to have more freedom and this stuff. I've found this site http://www.stuttgart-tourist.de/ENG/hotels/apartments.htm that's really great, but I have the problem that I don't know if the appartments are easily to reach by public transport. We are going to a sport event Porsche Arena, so something close to the centre or the S1, S2, S3 lines would be perfect. I have to say that I'm feeling stupid with the directions and everything, and everytime I ask for some inforation in one of the appartments sites, they reply me in German, which I can't barely understand. Any idea or advice? Alex30 hostel has appartments now but it's up to 2 people only... Thanks in advance |

Would you recommend staying at this lake for a couple days? Is it too touristy? Expensive? Any recommendations on places to stay (good area). We like to stay cheapy but would like to have a balcony with a view of the lake. Is staying near Lake Schluchsee a better choice? Thanks.

| Stuttgart | Hotel and Trade Fair Transportation Posted: Sun February 11, 2007 07:35 PM UTC
Hello - We will be arriving in Stuttgart for the Intervitis Trade Fair at Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH in April and would sure appreciate any help for hotel ideas. I would like to go sightseeing while my husband attends the show, therefore we would like to be close to a train, etc. that goes to the fair and within walking distance of places which I could explore on my own. We are flying into Frankfurt and will be travelling by train to Stuttgart. Also, any suggestions as to what I would be able see and do would be greatly appreciated. Have never been to Stuttgart before and am looking forward to our visit.
We will also be in Heilbronn so any suggestions for hotel, sightseeing there would also wonderful too. Thanks in advance for any help. PG |

| Stuttgart | Stuttgart to Switzerland for one night Posted: Fri February 9, 2007 02:41 PM UTC
Hi. I have some people staying with us who want to go down to Switzerland to see the alps (they don't care which area, just the alps they said). They are looking to get there using public transportation. They are leaving on a Sunday and returning on Monday. I looked up some rail prices and they were really high. Maybe you guys know some better sites than I do. Thanks.

| Stuttgart | Where to stay... Posted: Tue February 6, 2007 08:54 PM UTC
... will be arriving at the Stuttgart airport on march 27 for a 3 week round trip to places in Germany in a rental car we pick up at the Etap Hotel Stuttgart, Siemensstr.
I am sure there are quite a few places of interest, so we may stay 2-3 days before we get on the road. Because the Rental car outfit is quite some distance from the Airport, would a taxi ride be very expensive? Any recommmendations as to where to stay for that time (we are a couple) nothing too expensive, but with breakfast and maybe airport shuttle? Perhaps even a B&B or Pension? On another note, has anyone used one of those "Becker" Navigationsgerät in a car that can be rented at an additional 4.00 euro/day? Are they worth the extra expense? We are planning to make a round trip of about 2000 km, icl. the black forest, Bodensee, Rhein area, Salzburg etc. By the way, I do speak german, but am from Canada. Any hints are more than just appreciated. Norbert |

| Stuttgart | train roundtrip stuttgart-strasbourg Posted: Mon November 13, 2006 11:08 AM UTC
Hi,
Have checked the german rail website and found special offers "sparpreis 50" and "europa spezial", the latter being exceptionally cheap. Can anyone elaborate the conditions/restrictions for these 2 options. We (2 adults) are planning to buy the tickets through the internet and I'm afraid to order something which will not be correct - these tickets are not refundable (or at least there is a certain fine for cancelling). Any assistance will be much appreciated. |

| Stuttgart | Tennis Posted: Sun September 17, 2006 08:18 PM UTC
Greetings from Minneapolis USA.
I will be in Stuttgart the first week of October. My friend works there and will be busy during the days. I am a avid tennis player and looking for people to play tennis with (and meet) and maybe grab a beer for some conversation. Do you happen to know how I could make connections with other tennis players in Stuttgart? Your help is appreciated. Michael Moore (not the Michael Moore) |
