Buenos Aires 4 days in BA
Posted: Sat May 31, 2008 04:02 PM UTC
hi all,

I am from Malaysia and totally clueless about South America. My friend and I will be in BA for 4 days in end of June. Appreciate if anyone can give us some suggestion to some places that we must see in BA. We ara also planning a day trip to Colonia, Uruguay.

1) What is the easiest way from EZE airport to the city? Which is the cheapest option?
2) Is there any winery tour in BA, since we may not have time to go to Mendoza?
3) ow long is the journey to Cordoba?
4) How much wiill original Che Guevara t-shirts and Argentinian football jersey cost in BA?
5) Best place to buy souvenirs from BA?

Thanks so much for your helps & Tips :)

Buenos Aires Bus from Airport
Posted: Wed May 21, 2008 04:37 AM UTC
Hello, it's been a while since I was in BA. But I recall that a special bus used to run from the international airport to the city center, from where you could take a taxi.
Does this still run? Where does one catch it and how much does it cost?
Thanks.

Buenos Aires Where to buy a back pack
Posted: Wed May 21, 2008 01:52 AM UTC
I´ll be doing some traveling shortly and rather than take a duffel back which distributes the weight awkwardly when you carry it, I´d like to invest in an actual ¨backpackers¨ bag. Is there anywhere in Buenos Aires where I can buy one..thanks! I m on a funky keyboard so I couldnt even type the question mark..but thank you.

Buenos Aires Hotel Near the Airport?
Posted: Thu May 15, 2008 03:26 AM UTC
Hi,

Due to a scheduling snafu, I'll be arriving in Buenos Aires a day earlier than my girlfriend. I get in at two pm on one day and she arrives at 10 in the morning the next. My impression from reading the forum is that the airport is a fair distance from town. Wanting to be back to meet her at the airport the next morning I was wondering if there was a hotel near the airport. As I will have been traveling for 16 hours, all I really care about is a bed, so the cheaper the better. Thanks in advance!

Any info on bus numbers/metro would be much appreciated.

Buenos Aires Insider's Palermo?
Posted: Sun May 11, 2008 01:45 PM UTC
Hi, I'm in Buenos Aires for all of 2008 and would like to find some great places to explore other than the usual (i.e., San Telmo, Recoleta, etc.). I don't know a lot about Palermo Soho, Hollywood, or Viejo, having mainly hung around the areas between Santa Fe and Libertador. Does anyone have some suggestions about great neighborhoods to explore, good restaurants, etc.?

Buenos Aires Bar/Pub with American Sports?
Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 02:11 PM UTC
Hey all - I've been living in BsAs for a few months now and have frequented The Alamo on many occasions for watching NBA and NFL games, etc., but I'm looking for a change of scenery, and preferably a place with better drink specials, or least prices that are more similar to a typical Argentine bar. The prices at The Alamo are very obviously (and maybe appropriately) set for foreigners with Dollars, not Pesos, so basically I'm looking for a better deal. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

We are trying to find nice, good quality leather coats in men's XL, and women's L and M. Where are the best prices in BA? We are pretty sure they are not in Recoleta where we are renting our apartment. Suggestions appreciated! Thank you.

Buenos Aires Looking for a Hotel Recommendation
Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 04:21 PM UTC
Hi,

I've done a bit of research online including reading a lot of the old threads in this forum and it's all been very useful but I don't think that I've yet found what I'm looking for (if it exists). My girlfriend and I will be spending a week in Buenos Aires in August and I'm looking for hotel recommendations or at least recommendations for where in the city we should be looking.

We'd rather be away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas, though not so far that we can't be there in 15 or 20 minutes by cab. We also prefer colonial architecture and value 'character' over fancy amenities (though obviously cleanliness and safety are both important). While it would be great to save a few bucks by getting off the beaten track, that's not our primary concern so we'd love suggestions for even pricier hotels which you think we might like.

One last note: my Spanish is functional and my girlfriend is a native Spanish speaker so language isn't an issue for us.

Thanks.

Buenos Aires ATM Daily Limit
Posted: Sun April 27, 2008 04:55 AM UTC
Haven't been to B.A. for over a year and have been reading about new strict withdrawal limits imposed by visa, banelco, and some banks. I need a U.S. ATM debit card that does not charge a withdrawal fee and will allow me to withdraw up to $500 U.S. a day or more.

Any suggestions? Are people still having this problem?

Is is just visa or master card as well that is doing this?

Hello

Thanks for the replies, they were really useful..but we have another query!
We are looking to stay in an Estancia relatively near BsAs (a car or short bus journey away)
Does anyone know of a good estancia which has a bit of luxury and would cater for an inexperienced rider perhaps in the BsAs Province or just outside?
Again any tips would be appreciated

Many thanks

Buenos Aires Travel
Posted: Sat April 12, 2008 03:28 PM UTC
Hello
We are going to Arg for two weeks in Feb 09 and have already booked our return flights, however we cant yet book internal flights from BsAs to Iguazu as its too far in advance. If we were to sort out the rest of our holiday and leave three days in the middle for going to Iguazu, would we be able to book a flight and hotel in Iguazu a lot closer to Feb. My worry is that we leave it too late to get the flights. Can these internal flights be booked days or weeks in advance without a rise in price?
Also we are looking at returing from Igu and staying in an Estancia for a few days o/s BsAs. When should we book the estancia as the longer we can leave it the better. This is our dream holiday and dont want to ruin it with travel chaos....Any help/tips are greatly appreciated
Many thanks

Buenos Aires I am in Buenos Aires
Posted: Thu April 3, 2008 11:00 AM UTC
Hi there,

I am already in BsAs!! It is soooo wonderful! I arrived last night and stay at LoiSuites in Recoleta. Anybody want to meet up? I had a great dinner at 12am last night and it was freaking cheap and fantastic!! During diner, I was approached by a few of men dressed in black suites offering some nightclubs. I am a very big fan of a night club! but is it a strip joint or just a dance club as the card the men handed me seemed to be prettey seductive? Some example are Playgirl, hippotamus and hella's. Is it safe for me to go in or will i be facing some troubles?

If any of you travelers wanna meet up for a drink or anything, please contact me directly at bajuaku(at)yahoo(dot)com

Loves from BsAS,
Matt

Buenos Aires Manicure / Pedicure in Buenos Aires?
Posted: Fri March 28, 2008 02:39 AM UTC
Hello! I am visiting BsAs in November and wanted to get a manicure or pedicure (or both) while there... I do nails at home so I'm interested in their techniques!

A very clean, sanitary place please, for this germ-aphobe :-)

How much can I expect to spend?

I have heard good things of 2 places, Lulu of London and The Nail Company. Has anyone been to either of these? Any feedback? any other places?

Thanks a ton, kisses, Julie

Buenos Aires Hello Buenos Aires! Come join the "Hot Train of Psychotic Goodness!"
Posted: Thu March 27, 2008 01:14 AM UTC
.....I'm not quite sure what that is, but it sounds enticing! ;-)

Hello VT Friends,

It has been YEARS since I have posted one of these, but I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity!

We'll be making our rounds in South America and after spending 2 weeks blazing through Patagonia, we will find our way to BUENOS AIRES ready for some fun nights (and a hot shower!). With a colorful group of VTers in tow, we would love to meet up with some of the locals (and not-so-locals) and spend a fabulous night out in this exciting city.

We'll be spending 4 nights in Buenos Aires from Nov. 27th to Dec. 1st before flying off to Brazil---so a VT Meet on that Friday, Nov. 28th would be ideal! We also hope to catch a fútbol game that Sunday if the Boca Juniors are in town.

Before posting on the "Meetings and Events" page, we'd like some ideas from folks on a great place to meet up for some fine wine, dining, and dancing. One suggestion from our fine Trekking Guide, gfinesilver, is to meet up at "Catedral." We can enjoy tapas and Tango Lessons all in one place!

Any other suggestions where we can host a "VT South American Fiesta" in one of the world's most exciting cities?

The colorful cast of characters confirmed to appear:

Gypsystravels
Bond_Girl
Girl_KS
Ohh_Tbone
ChrisRJ
Geisha_Girl

Along with a bevy of other "non-VT-guilty-by-association" individuals who will also be along for the ride.

Come on out! We'd love to meet you! Chime in with suggestions!

It's over 8 months away folks, so plenty of time to make your plans and book your flights! (VT Staff--- this means YOU!) Let's head south for the winter!

(Autographed VT Thongs from the event will be available!) ;-)

See you there,
