Outdoor activities in the Bariloche area Posted: Thu February 9, 2006 04:06 PM UTC
Hi, we plan to be in this area in the end of March.
We both like the nature/outdoor activities (hiking, biking, kayaking) and found out there is a Nahuel Huapi trek, but what to do beside that?
Also- how crowded is it in the last week of March?
thank you!

Bungalows Ruca Piren Posted: Thu February 9, 2006 11:26 AM UTC
Hi all,
Does anyone have an advice/information about Bungalows Ruca Piren? It has been suggested as a cozy place to end my holiday (before taking an extend series of flights to Melbourne).
Also, I'm considering booking the bungalows at Alaska hostel for a few days at the start of my stay for the two of us. Any advice from the locals about these plans?
Thanks!

Lakes District - Chile or Argentina? Posted: Sat February 4, 2006 04:52 PM UTC
I would like to visit the lakes district for 5-7 days this March. We prefer hiking, kayaking, simply outdoors to visiting restaurants. Ican not decide which area to visit.
Do you have any suggestions? We'll be coming from either El Calafate or Puerto Natales. Thank you!

Things to do in and around Bariloche in March Posted: Sat January 14, 2006 05:28 AM UTC
Hello all,
My iternerary for the short trip to Bariloche has been finnalisd. I will be visiting Bariloche for 4.5 days after spending 15 days on the end of the earth trip from Gap Adventures (http://www.intrepidtravel.com/trip.php?code=gape) and another two days at Iguassu Falls.
I know that Bariloche boasts some of the very spectacular views in the region as well as being in the lakes district, allows many excursions ov the lakes to islands, and nearby national parks.
I was wondering if any people on this focum will have advice about what things are must-see in the region that I can do without a hore car. Physical activity in the first few days will be welcome as we are very fit and enjoy hking, etc.
We arrive in Bariloche at 3:30pm on the 13th of March and leave at 12:30pm on the 18th of March.
Any advice will be gratefully accepted.
Kind regards
Eddie

Buenos Aires -> Bariloche -> Santiago Posted: Tue January 3, 2006 12:05 AM UTC
Hi everyone.
I have an unexpected stopover in Bs-As from the 12th to the 18th of March, and was hoping to fly to Bariloche, have a few days there, and then go to Santiago via Puerto Montt... Does anyone have advice about whether this is feasible on such a short notice.
Also, if such a trip does make sense, what would be the best way to travel from Bariloche to Santiago? My flight back to Melbourne leaves Santiago early on the morning of the 19th of March.
Thanks a TON in advance for any advice.
Regards
Eddie

Bariloche for the summer...share an apartment? Posted: Wed December 14, 2005 02:04 PM UTC
Hola!
I´ve just arrived in Bariloche, and looking for an apartment, house, or bungalow for the summer. Anyone interested in sharing a place?
29 y.o. non-smoking, friendly female from San Francisco, CA. I work from home (computer programming), but like to do outdoorsy things as much as possible. That is the reason that I´m here, after all. :)
First week here has been rather lonely, since I´m staying with a family temporarily, so not meeting people at hostels, and as much as I chat with locals about my situation (just moved here, looking for new friends) no luck there. Prefer to meet up with residents or someone staying for longer than a few days, but beggars can´t be choosers. :) Look forward to meeting people from the forum sometime!

Lakes Crossing Posted: Fri December 2, 2005 10:45 AM UTC
Hi,
My husband and I are going to Argentina from the 14th Dec to 2 Jan.We would love to do the lakes crossing from Argentina to chile but from what I can see it looks quite expensive. Can anyone make any suggestions? Should we book the trip through a travel agent and if not where do we make the necessary arrangements. We will stay in BA for 3 days and then we want to go South to Bariloche and eventually Ushaia. Also I'd really appreciate any suggestions for accommodation in Bariloche that will not be too expensive.
Thanks :-)

Bariloche to Buenos Aires Posted: Sat November 26, 2005 12:05 PM UTC
We would like to travel by land, in comfort, from Santiago to Buenos Aires - taking about two weeks - through the Lake District. We would like to do it in short daytime trips - traveling no more than 5 hours a day, staying two nights in "interesting" places along the way. The part that I can find very little about is the overland part from Bariloche to Buenos Aires.
Open to any suggestions.
Thank you,
Sanscott

Hello. I'll be in Bariloche from July 31 for a week.
I've been there for several times when i was a teenager and i'd like for suggestions for night life for people around 26-34.
Also places to go if you rent a car for 1 or 2 days.
Thank you.

Buenos Aires to Bariloche on Omnibus Posted: Thu March 10, 2005 06:42 PM UTC
I am thinking of taking the 20 hour bus trip to Bariloche from Buenos Aires from the Retiro Terminal. However, I have 2 suitcases and my backpack...if I store my suitcases underneath, and have my backpack with me, is this safe if I sleep part of the way, or should I worry about my backpack being stolen? Also, has anyone had bad experiences with anyone stealing their luggage when stowed underneath the bus? Thanks!

Fishing and travel in Bariloche, Argentina Posted: Sat January 8, 2005 06:07 PM UTC
Has anyone rented a vehicle. Is it better to get one there or book it in the states? What is the weekly cost. Also..I'm 55 and I want to stay in the Patagonia area for at least a month (Feb.-Mar.05) to fish. I'm blown away by the $3-5 thousand weekly rates for guides, etc. Are there local guides. I fly fish. I've travel a bit and can't understand the costs here at Bariloche. I thought the peso was down and still the prices look like the states. Also, are there hotels for 20 a night. I have spent time in hostels. They are fine I just wonder about the noise. Any information on cars, fishing, or accomodations. I would GREATLY appreciate the help. Sorry I have no picture. I'm not digital savy...yet. :)
