I am planning to travel to Buenos Aires In JUne/July and then to Bariloche. Someone recommended Hotel Panamericano or Yau Yau. Any ideas? From Bariloche, we would take the tour thru the lakes, thru Cruce Andino Mountains up to Puerto Mont. Fly from Puerto MOnt to Santiago and then back to US.
Can you share ideas?

Snowboarding in Bariloche Posted: Wed June 24, 2009 10:54 PM UTC
Can anyone offer advice about arranging snowboarding near Bariloche? I already have a hostel (Penthouse 1004) booked in July but wondered whether I need to book lessons, transport, hire etc. before I arrive? Any reccomendations for who to take lessons with? I have never snowboarded before so would like group lessons for beginners in English. Also do you know if it is possible to hire snow wear i.e jacket and snowboarding pants or should I bring these with me? Am trying to pack light as continuing my travels after Bariloche. Any advice would be most appreciated!
Thanks:)

cross andes tour Posted: Sun January 4, 2009 04:58 PM UTC
I will be in Bariloche on Feb. 10-13, 2009 and plan to leave Bariloche taking the cross-andes tour to Puerto Varas. I assume that there are several operators of such tour. Am I right?
If positive, I would appreciate opinions on which operator is good both cost-wise and quality-wise.
Thanks a lot in advance

time to stay, places to see, where to stay and Lake Crossing Posted: Mon November 3, 2008 02:43 AM UTC
In December we are planning to visit Buenos Aires, then Iguasu Falls, and the to Bariloche. How many nights should we plan to stay, what should we see. Should we take a tour when there? Where would you recommend we stay. We like a bit nicer accomodations. Also do you recommend taking the Lake Crossing to Puerto Montt

How to get around Bariloche? Posted: Wed July 16, 2008 04:25 PM UTC
I'm visiting in October and would like to hire a 4WD to see the lakes. Where is a good place to do this in Bariloche? I'd also like to drive to Peninsula Valdes on the Atlantic coast from Bariloche to see the whales - any tips? Is it possible to do this drive at this time of year and how long will it take?

Anyone know of ideas how to get from Pucon, Chile to Bariloche? I've heard that you can take a bus to Puerto Madryn, and then to Bariloche, but is there a direct bus that goes from Pucon to Bariloche? Any help would be great! Also, any recommendations on hostels in Bariloche would help as well.

Lake Crossing Puerto Montt to Bariloche or viceversa around June 30 Posted: Sun April 29, 2007 05:28 AM UTC
I am planning a trip with my wife for our 25th wedding anniversary. I am considering this route, but I admit that I am a bit nervous because of the winter season. Please advise:
* Is it too cold to take this tour around June 30? what is the average temperature in Bariloche and Puerto Montt? and how long it takes to go from one to the other at the end of June?
* I read that July is very crowded in Bariloche, but I imagine most people go to ski. Neither my wife or I ski, although we might be interested in a one-day instruction for the fun of it. Is it reasonable to expect hotel availability around this time of the year? Is it worth to visit in the winter if we are not skiing? By the way, I can pay up to $100 per night for hotel. Any recommendations?
Thank you

Honeycomb Chocolate Posted: Sat April 28, 2007 06:10 PM UTC
While living in Argentina in the early 70's we had the delight of eating a chocolate that was very light and airy. It was full of small holes and when placed in the mouth began to melt immediately. Since returning to the U.S. I have been unable to locate it and was wondering if anyone knows the name of this delicious chocolate and where I can obtain it. Thank you in advance for any information you may be able to supply.

Hey,
Myself and two of my buddies are travelling to Bariloche in June 15th for a week. We have booked a house from Barilcohe Appartments 15Km out of town, they are suppossed to be luxury Houses by the Lake.
Just wondering if anyone could recommend an intinery for the week?
Does anyone know anything about the houses/company I'm talking about and would you have any tips?
Will it be lively there at that time of the year?
How cold will it be?
We have heard that there's a brewery in Bariloche?
Cheers,

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to El Calafate! Posted: Wed February 21, 2007 03:11 AM UTC
Hi all,
Well in the planning stages for the last sector of our round the world trip - South America. All very exciting and all very daunting! It's so big....LOL.
At the moment I researched and got us as far as Bariloche, from here we want to head south to El Calafate, the month will be July/early August - winter of course. I found a tour that went down but only in summer, Aerolineas are quite expensive to fly and dont fly direct until the middle of August.
So, buses - maybe take a bus to Comodoro Rivadavia and another onwards? Has anyone any recommendations? Done this trip in winter? Have any other suggestions?
I have tryed looking at viabariloche and andesmar without any luck!
We are short on time and money for this trip!Any idea of timetables and bus fares ?
Many thanks in advance
Ali

Skiing-best time? Thinking August Posted: Wed January 10, 2007 04:52 PM UTC
Considering a trip to Bariloche for skiing this summer. In preliminary reading, sounds like July is to be avoided because of crowding from school breaks. But I recently read something about college breaks in August which I might like to avoid as well. Is there a "best time" in the month of August or is early September a better bet?
Thanks!

We're going to be in Bariloche for a few days in Sept. (probably flying from Buenos Aires) and would like to take a bus from Bariloche to Puerto Madryn around Sept. 9/10. Any recommendations? Are the buses reliable and are they likely to have schedules for this time? Prices? How far ahead should we book?
