Hi,

I am planning to be in Catania from Thursday 15th to Thursday 22nd October.

I want to find first a public library where I can study during the day and second in case it is warm a lido still open at this time of year?? (I am from England).

Anyone resident there can tell me anything interesting that tourists usually don't know.

hello there, any suggestions for a quite fancy restaurant in Catania? Being from Tuscany where we have great food/wine I am looking forward to not having just a great service but great food also (possible with fresh fish).

i will be traveling with my husband and two kids aged 5 and 7. I would like to take the kids for a day in etnaland and than maybe swimming or someplace to enjoy with kids for the next day. can you please help me where is it possible to go . maybe something kids would love to see and enjoy..... it will be a hot time as we will be travelling from malta to sicily on the 25 evening of august and back to malta 27 evening. please i be happy to have some information. i also would like a clean hotel or guest house but i need one with our private bathroom. nothings extra ordernery but something clean and not so old...... please help as i have been going abroad but to catania i never went . i be happy to take the kids where they enjoy themself.

We are travelling to Sicily in early November and are needing to get to Castiglione di Sicilia via train or bus - can anyone advise if this is possible? The only railway line I can seem to find is the "Cirumetnea" but it seems a little unclear whether it stops there or not. Also is it better to purchase the tickets there - and if so where from?
We are also staying in Taormina if it is easier to get to Castiglione from there.

Please could someone assist me. I'm trying to find the best spot to book a Hotel for 1 day and night in Catania. We're a family of 2 adults and 2 kids under 8 years of age and we're wanting a really comfortable, good, 3/4/5 star Hotel situated close to the Airport as we have an early flight out the next morning i.e. Monday 13 July. We arrive from Panarea on 12 July midday and obviously want to fit in some small sightseeing. Where is the best place to stay? I've looked at the Grand Baia Verde Hotel on the cliff - that looks good, but is it not out of the way? So, there I thought the Liberty was the place and now I see it's in a bad area?

Do any of the Hotels accommodate families with 2 double rooms and an interleading suite i.e. 2 bedroom family suite? Most of them have come back with wanting to put us all in one room with a foldout sofa for the kids- what's with that?


I need to book something asap today, so please post a reply as soon as possible.

Hi I am planning a trip from malta to Taormina in August and want to also visit Catania. If i wee to stay 1 night in Catania where would you recommend? or if i want to just spend aday there what should i do?

I also need to know how regular buses are to Taormina and how late they travel or where to get this information. Many thanks.

I am traveling to Catania the second week of March from Philadelphia,PA. I was wondering the best hotel to stay at near shopping, nightlife, pubs, etc. I am travelling on business and will need to get to Sigonella NAS as well during the week.

Any suggestions? I really would like to stay somewhere where we can walk to pubs and such.

we will be visiting Catania in September and our accomodation is in Adrano. I was trying to check whether there is any place for wine tasting in Catania. Don't know whether someone can help us?

We are also looking to visit typical Sicilian Villages -do you suggest any village in particular we should visit? Places next to the sea would also interest us. We will surely be visiting Taormina.

i would like to travel from catania train central station to Napoli, me and my wife will be coming to catania with catamaran from Malta by sea. Is it possible to get our train ticket's on the day of our arrival or do we have to book befor?. If yes how much it will cost us and how long do the trip take's.

Hi, I'm going on a trip to Sicily for 3 days and 2 nights July 16-July 18 with my girlfriend for the main purpose of going to Etna but I just need help with buses, shuttle services, and taxis. Is there regular services going to Etna and how much would a taxi cost to like Nicolosi?

We arrive probably around 1700-1800 in Catania out of the airport on July 16th.

Hi, I'm looking to go with my girlfriend for about 4 days to Sicily with the main purpose of going to Mount Etna and then Taormina if there's time.

Can anybody give me information on the cheapest places in Catania, Milo, Zafferana Etnea, and Nicolosi? looking to spend no more than 40 Euros for a room (Or so I hope to anyway).

I also would info on transport from Catania to upslope Etna towns/villages.

The dates I'm talking about is between 12 July-20 July

Hi!

I hope you can help me answer a few questions. I will be visiting Sicily for a week now in June and will start in Palermo. From there I plan to go by car to Corleone, Agrigento, Enna, Syracus, Catania and Taormina. Palermo and Catania will probably see the most of me.

I'm particularily interested in seeing the greatest sights, experiencing the most delicious foods and wine and meeting local people during the evenings where there's music and some life.

Can you help me find the best, though not necessarily fancy, restaurants in these cities, recommend some good wine I shouldn't miss out on and mention the most fun places to go out during the evenings?

I have read several of the VT member pages, but would still appreciate some input on where the gems are hidden :)

Hi! I'll be taking a cruise and one of the stops in is Catania. There are organized outings with the cruise line but i was hoping my boyfriend and i could tour on our own. I was just wondering if it's going to be difficult for us to navigate around-pretty much having no idea where we're going when we step off the boat. Just curious if anyone has any tips or advice!

Was just wondering whether there is an IKEA outlet in Sicily.

Can anyone help me with any shops in Catania who have nice usefull wedding souvenirs... A website or some pictures will be very helpfull so I can take an idea where to go as I am coming for a day trip.

I am planning to visit Sicily for 5 days in late March 2008. Please would you kindly advise the following:

1. Is Catania the best place to stay if we are spending a day in Mount Etna, say, overnight stay in Catania?

2. Assuming that Catania is our 'base', what trains or buses are available to catch to go up to Mount Etna (I read this on some websites before)?

3. What 'destination' should we be aiming for for a day-trip to the Mount Etna?

4. How much does it cost? Transportation? Entry fee to the National Park?
