We have four days between cruise and flight and we'd like to explore a little beyond C at the beginning of May.
The challenge is . . . one of us uses a wheelchair (manual, foldable, lightweight, some mobility with assistance).
Plan is to rent a car in C. and drop off at FCO. Train travel with luggage would be impractical.
We're seasoned tourists and up for a challenge - but Tarquinia and Ostia look formidable on the YouTube videos I've researched. We love old towns, beautiful countryside, history, culture, food. Would be happy to spend two days here and two days there, if there's things to see and it's reasonably easy getting around.
Can a VT expert offer suggestions?

Can anyone recommend a reliable taxi/shuttle service to use to take us from the cruise terminal at Civitavecchia Port to Fiumicino Airport? Also, how long does the journey take approximately?

Hi all, just a question for anyone who might know the coastal area around Civitavecchia.

We are taking the train from Roma to CVT the evening before our cruise - I'm finding a chunk of accommodation in Civitavecchia is full - does anyone know if there are any of the small towns and villages on the railway line on the way there that might have a nice B&B that would be recommended? We would get off the train earlier and then take another train the following morning of the cruise.

Many thanks for your help

Four seniors need a safe and easy way to travel from Fiumicino airport to Civitavecchia to catch a cruise. Is the train best? What is the cost? Do we go through Rome? How far is the train station in Civitavecchia to the port? Thanks.

Hello,

I am planning a Mediterranean cruise in July 2011 with my family, my son 19 and my daughter 14 and i have been wondering which cruise line to choose, I have found one on Holland America Cruise Line for ten days at the same price with Royal Caribbean for 7. Which company is better? Do teenagers go on Holland America? I have found Holland America interesting but I worry that not may young people go on the cruises. By the way any web pages to book cruises? Thanks for your help

We will be stopping for one day and plan to take the train in from Civitavecchia to Rome. The cruise itinerary says it arrives at 7am. About how long does it take to get from the ship is docked to the entrance of the port? I've read there is a shuttle bus that will do that, and then the walk to the train station is just a few blocks. Is it a good idea to buy train tickets online ahead of time or just wait until we get there? Is there a chance that the earlier times will be sold out? Do the trains generally run on time? THanks for any help.

Can someone tell me the easiest way to get to Rome from Civitavecchia? How long will it take to get there ... how much time should we allow for "in case time"? Is there a bus as well as a train? If there is, which is the better option? Are the train/bus stations close to the cruise terminal? Thank You :-o))

We will be in Civitavecchia and we have already done the Rome thing, we would like to get the train to Tarquinia, can anyone give me directions from the cruise terminal the railways station, is it walkable or do we need a taxi. Have been on the trenitalia web page, but all the trains are N/A so not sure, if and when the trains are running, We don't mind trying for the train if the station is not too far away.
Thanks

Hello

Does anybody know if there is an easy way to get to the new Aqua Park in Civitavecchia. It is apparently 3 miles away. There will be 12 of us all together. I'm not sure if many taxi drivers would want to take us such a short journey when many people will be wanting tours of Rome.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi, I am looking for a safe and dependable transfer or guided tour for 10 people on a cruiseline from Cittivechia into Rome in 2 days. We'd like to find something reasonably priced, but also with a dependable tour guide. Can anyone suggest any for us? Our preferred price range is about US$150 - US$200 pp.

Our alternatives at this point are a 6 person minivan tour for US$2300 (about US$383pp), a taxi for 3 at US$700 (about US$233pp - transfer only), or the train which is very affordable, but only allows us 3 hours to explore Rome. We dock in Cittivechia at 8am, and need to be back by 4pm. We'd like to find something that will maximize our alloted time - about 6 hours in Rome.

Our cruise will end in Civitavecchia, and we would like to rent a car for a few days. Are there any car rental agencies very close to the cruise port, or will we need to get to the downtown Civitavecchia area in order to pick up a car? Thanks very much.

I looked up the following hotels:

1. Hotel Baia Del Sole
2. Roses De La Ville
3. Hotel San Giorgio

All the above mentioned hotels are in Civitavecchia (Italy; Rome)

I have a client that wants to stay in a single room for one night.

He has requested a bath in his bathroom, how can I find out if the hotels do offer this facility?

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a tour company that offers an 8-hour shore excursion from Civitavecchia priced around 150 Euro per person, or a 6-hour bus tour originating in Rome for about 120 Euro per person?

Thank you, Josh

Is there anybody on this flight making the same journey and would like to share the shuttle (and cost). Jayne (240Euros return to be shared by passengers, met at the airport by company, picked up on disembarkation) excellent service last year in Venice.

One day in Civitavecchia on a cruise ship on July 5/2010. Last time we explored the town; this time we plan to rent a car and would appreciate some suggestions about possible destinations. Ostia comes to mind, but some local knowledge will surely be welcomed.

Has any one here taken a cruise that disembark in Civitavecchia since Christmas day? I'm looking to book a flight but unsure how much time I should allow to disembark and get thru port customs. I would like to book the 1220 flight heading back to the states. But unsure if that would provide enough time. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you
