State of Rajasthan Would a lady take my daughter’s place in the train “Palace on Wheels” from 17th to 24th of September
Posted: Tue June 17, 2008 12:19 PM UTC
Would a lady be interested in taking the place of my daughter for a week in “the Palace of Wheels” from 17th to 24th of september ? I booked a trip in that wonderful train last january but unfortunately my daughter can’t come, and I booked a twin room in the train and it is too late to cancel ; the price is 2 695$ ; for further information, here is the website : www.palacetours.net, click on India Nepal…, then on Palace on Wheels holidays…, then on “a week in Wonderland”. You will have the details. I am a very easy going french woman of 54 and would love to meet an english speaking person.

Posted: Mon February 18, 2008 12:47 AM UTC
hello
I will be arriving in new delhi in late march. I have about 3 weeks until I have to get to kathmandu. Here are the cities we think we would like to visit (definitely open to suggestions!)

agra
jaipur
varanasi
udaipur
pushkar

darjeeling (this will be after kathmandu, before thailand)

Can someone recommend some additional cities and let me know in what order it makes the most sense to visit these?

Many thanks

State of Rajasthan Quiet place to chill in Rajasthan or North India?
Posted: Tue February 5, 2008 08:24 PM UTC
I’m looking for an inexpensive (under 1500R, 60$ or £30) friendly hotel or lodge in Rajasthan or elsewhere in North India to chill out for a week or so. It must be quiet and peaceful with a garden or roof garden and the room must be clean with an ensuite shower/WC. I would like good food either in the hotel or nearby. Simple is fine! I don’t want anything posh! I don’t want a spiritual retreat place or go to Shimla (too cold!) Any suggestions, please

State of Rajasthan Backpack or wheel case for India
Posted: Tue January 15, 2008 04:29 PM UTC
I have a doubt on my upcoming trip to India: backpack or wheel case? I´ve always find more convinient wheel case than backpack on my trips (including those to desert zones in middle east), those wheels are a gift when tired and hot, but on India I´m doubting. What were your experiences? is a case with wheel too uncomfortable for buses and trains?

Hi everyone I am traveling with a friend in February to India can you help me with some information on the following:

What is the best way to get around Rajasthan by train.

Where do I get timetables and how do I book. Can you give me a rough idea of how much money you need per day (train fares not included in this) using sleeper trains as our accommodation where possible. I have read all the forum answers but just want some current information as must of it was posted in 2006.

Can anyone tell me what will the temperature be in Shimla during day and night time by mid December ? What time will it gets dark ?
I'm taking the afternoon toy train from Shimla, arriving Kalka at 20.10pm. The connecting train to Delhi departs at 23:45pm. Can anyone suggest me what must I do during the almost 4 hours waiting ? Is there a waiting lounge at Kalka Railway station or I will be frozed to death ? TQ.

State of Rajasthan Jodhpur to Jaisalmer
Posted: Thu October 18, 2007 05:15 PM UTC
Hi,

I am planning to travel from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer by bus. According to Lonely Planet, RSRTC operates half-hourly bus services from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer. However when I checked the RSRTC website (http://www.rsrtc.org/time_table.asp), I can't find this bus service.

Does anyone know whether this bus service exists for RSRTC? And if it does, what is the departure time like?

Thanks a million.

State of Rajasthan approproate dress for women
Posted: Thu October 11, 2007 08:52 PM UTC
As a woman in her 40's traveling with a male partner round the golden triangle next week, what would be the most appropriate clothes to pack, considering that I don't wear trousers. I wear mainly calf length skirts but have some just above the knee sun dresses for hotter climates. Do I have to cover my arms or can I wear sleeveless Tshirts with a fine shawl? Obviously I would dress with decorum when visiting temples, but not sure about the rest of the time. Can anyone advise me please?

Thanks
