I'm travelling with some friend to Rajasthan in December 2009 - Jan 2010 for 1 month. We are at a cross roads because my style of travelling is to 'wing it', arrive and book hotels, transport etc once we are there as that will give us flexibility if we decide to veer off the itinirary we are planning. They prefer to pre-book everything ahead so that we dont waste time looking while we are there. So my question is ... do you think its necessary to book ahead in December considering its peak season or will we be ok to just arrive in cities and find accommodation then. Is it wiser to book ahead so that we dont end up sleeping on the streets?
Has anyone been to Rawala Narlia and if so is it worth stopping over there?

Hi, we will be spending our honeymoon end of November visiting the golden triangle and Ranthambore for 10 days. We will be staying in mid-range to high-end hotels throughout our stay. My question is whether taking vaccination is a MUST? Would we be ok as long as we avoid eating any raw food including salad, tap water and dairy?
We area couple in our 50's travelling to India in Feb/March 2010.
We have done alot of research and are reasonably happy with our itinerary and places to stay. What we do not know is how to get around. We have to be in Delhi for 2 weeks so should we arrange travel for Rajasthan inside India?
Our plan is fly Delhi to Jodphur (2n). Hire a driver Jodphur (overnight Rakenpur (1n)) to Uidapur (4n ). Drive Uidapur to Bundi ( via Chittorgarh)(2n). Then Bundi to Pushkar( how ?)Pushkar (2n)to Ajmer ( bus? )and train to Jaipur (1n although may skip this) and Delhi in time to fly home to Aus.
It doesn't matter how much I read on the trains system I am totaly confused about carriages and wait lists and how to book. Also should we travel 2AC or is there 1 AC and or the shorter 2AC corridor if we do sleeper?
When we are in Delhi should we get our guest house in Delhi arrange the train legs for us? ( We also plan to go to Agra by train and Amistrar ) Also a driver and car. Can we just have a driver for some of the Raj trip not all of it? how does it all work? Help?
My partner and I will travel to Rajastan soon. We have previously traveled in Kerala and so are aware of the travel times between Indian cities. We would like to see the major centres of the area, Jaipur, Udipur, Mt Abu, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Delhi and Agra, but spend about 4-5 nights in each area seeing the sights, doing day trips as we wish, but avoiding to some extent the hectic travel even if it means missing some things others would see. We would like comfortable warm and friendly homestays, with people who can give good local insight and advice. We arrive in Delhi Dec 12 and leave Jan 10. Any advice is most welcome
I am planning to travel to India for 2 weeks in Jan/Feb with a friend, and we're thinking of spending the first week (7 days/6 nights) in Rajasthan. We are keen on seeing the following four places: Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Ranthambore National Park.
However since this is going to be a short trip we understand that time might not permit us to visit all four. In that case, any suggestions which three of these four we should visit and propose some sample itineraries?
Has anyone stayed at Hotel The Wall Street in Jaipur before? I would welcome first-hand feed-back, since my travel agent is offering to 'upgrade' me free of charge to this hotel for my two night stay in Jaipur in October.
Hi,
We are 4 adults and 3 children (all under 4yrs)planning a trip to Rajasthan end of of Sept. We will be flying in from Bangalore. Can you pls suggest a best itenary for 9 days? What we are looking for is-
1. We definitely have to go to Ajmer Sharif
2. We dont want to do more than 2 or max 3 cities. We would rather relax in 1-2 places.
3. We would look for places that are scenic, close to nature - off the hustle bustle of typical cities though we wouldnt mind just a few must see palaces etc. but just to a minimum
4. What would be the weather like during end of Sept?
Can you please suggest a good itenary with possible hotels to stay? Something off the beated track...
Would anyone have traveled from Ahmedabad to jaisalmer using trains. We are planning our trip starting in Ahmedabad. Our itinerary at present is (subject to change with suggestions) from Ahmedabad to Jaisalmer, to Jodhpur, to jaipur to Agra to Jaipur/Ajmer, to Udaipur and Chittaudgarh and then back to Ahmedabad.
We tried to find train routes from Ahmedabad to Jaisalmer but can not find the trains running between these two stations. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
I want to go to Rajasthan in a month. What would be the best itinerary and how would it be best to do a camel trip if I go. What is the easiest way to travel between the cities?
I am having difficulty locating accommodation at the end of December for my budget (Rs.300 pp/night. Does anyone who has stayed at the Vinayak Guest House have an opinion on their location and quality of accommodation. Thanks for your time.
I am thinking of taking the 22.20 train from Udaipur to Ajmer. It arrives in Ajmer at 03.45 in the morning. Obviously I will then have to make my way to my hotel. Thinking of walking since it is only a 10 minute walk. Would it be safe to walk in central Ajmer at this time. Alternatively what sort of transport would be available from the train station?

Hello everybody!
Can anybody give me an idea about the state of the Udaipur lakes? I've read that they've partly dried up recently, and that they are very filthy. However a decent monsoon rain, and some new canals were supposed to help.
Anybody been their recently? Should it still be included on my tight India schedule?
My husband and I are traveling to Jaipur and we will do a "circle" visiting Bundi, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Pushkar and back to Jaipur. Our idea would be to have somebody to drive us around. The total number of days we want to spend in the area would be around 6 to 8. We asked the fare to a tourist agency and they told us it would cost US$675. Is it a decent price? It seems to be too expensive, what do you think?
I really want to visit Kumbhalgarh fort and wildlife park, but am totally cluless about logistics! please let me know if you have any information and prices for:
-A cheap hotel near Kumbhalgarh
-Getting to Kumbhalgarh from udaipur airport - taxi cost? Or pre arranged coach tour etc?
any other tips or comments from those who have been here would be appreciated!
We are a family who is going to travel in Rajastan. We wanted to hire a car with a driver via "Indian Horizon" tours agency, which gave us the best deal for 24 days. Did any one use their serviece? Any comments?
