Hi

I am thinking of going to South India for a holiday during August this year.

The main reason for the visit is to go to the Rameshwaram Temple.

Having not been there before would a 10 day tour (incorporating Chennai - Kanchipuram - Mamallapuram - Pondicherry - Trichy - Madurai - Kanyakumari) be too agressive i.e too much to do in a small amount of time?

I want to have a tour tailored to me and as when I feel like it i.e not time constrained. Any recomendations? Would it be better to hire a driver and car in Chenai and go along or is it better to go for a more formal tour? How much would this cost for 2 people?

I would like to fly out from Bangalore or Mumbai (ideally it would be great to visit both) back to Singapore. Is travel within India by plane easy?

All up I would think I would spend 15 days in India.

We are planning to visit Kodaikkanal by last week of July or first week of August.. Will the weather be totally rainy??

Which hotel or cottage is better to stay

Can anyone please tell me what the facilities and services are like on the TN Express to Delhi. I'm planning to take my parents there but considering it is a 33 hour journey wondering if it's a good idea because of their age. I want to be sure that they will be comfortable all the way. Appreciate any advice.

I am arriving in Chennai by train from Trivandrum on Monday morning (June 23rd).

I am looking for a decent, clean, fan-cooled room with own bath in the 500 Rs range. Is this possible?

I want to attend the auto expo at the Chennai Trade Centre. It is in Nandambakkam - which I understand is some 8km from the city centre. Can anyone give me options and costs to get there - i.e. bus, rickshaw, taxi, train?

i ahve seen beautifull images of the temples of madurai. these were images overviewing the many temples from somewhere upon a buiding. Are there places that offer great views over the temples, are they accessible for tourists? i have heard you cant climb the temples.

Planning to be in Kodaikanal on 25th & 26th June. Need advice on the following :

1) Are any Bed & Breakfast/paying Guest or private Bungalow facilities available for a homely stay there. Is yes, then could you send in contact details. If no, then best staying place with a homely atmosphere.

2) Planning to hire a Qualis or similar vehicle from Madurai, visit Rameswaram, Kodaikanal & return to Bangalore. Any tip or advice on the same & the likely rates.

What is the shortest rout to reach Rameswaram by air ? Chennai or Coimbatore.

Vincent and I are two French students who are going to stay 3 months in Chennai for work. Our office will be in the industrial zone of Chengelpattu.
Where do you advice us to stay? Chennai seems too far away (1 hour); is Chengelpattu nice? What about Tambaram? Do you know other nice city to stay?
Is furnished rental the best?

i would like to know how to get to kodaikanal from palakkad by road. distance and details if possible for a group of six adults and five children

I and my wife ( we are 59 and 56 year old) will reach Coimbatore from Delhi by air around 1100 AM. We wish to go to Ooty, as early as possible, but on a reasonable budget (we are Indian middle class). We do not want to travel standing in buses. We need suggestions. Can I get a shared taxi at Coimbtore airport, which will take us directly to Ooty. If not, then are there shared taxis available from Coimbtore city. If yes then from which place in Coimbtore. How much these options will cost per person.

I also want advice on the quality of TTDC (Tamilnadu tourism) hotel at Ooty, where I have booked my accommodation for stay.

I will be traveling to Mumbai via Chennai this April with a one-night stop-over. Can anyone suggest a decent, clean with A/C budget hotel near the airport? (i know that the airport is way out of the city). I was informed to check out hotels in Kennet Lane.

And would you also know if that budget hotel can arrange an airport transfer from and back?

I'll be travelling around Tamil Nadu at the end of March, and am looking for a beach to relax at for a couple days at the end of my trip. I'm not looking for a picturesque beach, I'd just like a clean place where I can swim and lay on the beach. Is the beach at Mamallapuram decent? We're planning on visiting this city anyway, so if the beach here is ok, we'll just stay a bit longer. Our tentative route is from Chennai to Ooty to Madurai to Mamallapuram, so if anyone can recommend a better beach on the coast between Madurai and Mamallapuram, much appreciated.

What's the best way to get to Mamallapuram from Madurai? Are there trains that run between them, or can I take a train to a transfer point and then a bus from there to Mamallapuram? Thanks for any advice!!

I will be arriving on the early mrng Qatar airways flight and connecting on to a Kingfisher Domestic flight to Coimbatore.
Can some one guide me on the airport transfers between the International and Domestic terminal. Is it walking distace or are there any airport buses which take you there.
My flight arrives at 0340am and plan to connect on to 0615am departure flight.

I am coming into Chennai for business late Saturday night, and would like to pick up a SIM for my unlocked mobile phone - Can anyone tell me if Airtel stores are open on Sunday, or will I need to wait until Monday?

I am staying at the Park Sheraton and am also curious if they sell SIM there - several "business-focused" hotels I have stayed in in the past offered this service.

We would very much like to travel by car from cuddalore to tambaram via vellore, thiruvannamalai, sri perumpudur, kanjeevaram etc. Ho far is it? Is is doeable as a day trip. How are the roads?. Would really appreciate the advice. How hot is it in the 3rd week of March?Are we being too ambitious to cover all these places in one day. How much would a one way taxi fare cost?
