como in august Posted: Sat July 25, 2009 03:25 PM UTC
We are planning to be in como from aug22 to aug25. We are planning to stay at the Metropole suisse hotel. Is that a good hotel? . How is the weather then? ,are the shops open ? .What all can we do in 3 day?
I am also trying to decide the best and easy way to get to como from the airport. I am thinking about getting a taxi to como from the airport since we will be so tired after a long transatlantic flight. Do I have to book a taxi before or just get one outside and how much does it cost.
thanks

Transportation to Varenna Posted: Sat June 13, 2009 02:54 PM UTC
Dear VT - Four ladies are trying to get to Varenna from Lucerne Switzerland on a Sunday in July. I know I can get a train to Lugano, Milan, or Como San Giovanni. The problem is getting from one of these destinations to Varenna. I really don't want to have to go to Milan and back out if I can help it - it seems like a waste of time. I have been advised that the como station is at a distance to the ferry stop would require a taxi - how expensive?-and the hydro foils may not run that regularly. I see there is a bus that goes from Lugano to Mennagio but cannot see if it runs regularly and on Sundays. I am attaching a bus link that I have found for the bus. I cannot read it as I cannot read italian
http://www.sptlinea.it/pdf/invernale_0708/C12.pdf Can anyone please help me with this question. Thanks so much

How to get from Como or Lugano to Gardone Riviera on Garda Lake? Posted: Mon May 4, 2009 09:04 PM UTC
I am going to holidays to Garda Lake. I already booked a hotel in Gardone Riviera, but now I have problems to find out how to get there from Lugano using a public transport. Are there any buses that go from Lugano or Como directly to Garda Lake? And what is the closest point near town Gardone Riviera with bus connection? For the trains, I think that the only option is to go via Milano and then with the bus, which seems to take quite a lot of time...If anybody can help me with this information, it would be great!!! Grazia :)

Rental apartments at Lake Como Posted: Mon July 14, 2008 08:55 AM UTC
My parents just booked cheap flights to Bergamo, and will stay quite long.So the thought that they would like to rent a cheap flat from lake Como, from place where is a train connection. They first were planning to rent a car(they have driven around Europe several times, and like it),but have heard that car-rent in Italy is expensive(around 60e a day,is it true?).Problem is,that I have only one week to help them, because I´m soon meaving there myself(To Bergamo, not to Como). So if someone knows helpful tips to find cheap apartments,it would be a big help!Problem number two is,that they are leaving at August,so the tinme is running. My father needs my help, because his English isn´t so good, and most of renters don´t speak German, witch he speaks very well.So it really is a hurry. And there´s a formula1-competion at that time,so places are getting full..I´ve allready checked VRBO and Interhome, and coupple of small companys.if someone knows new tips-it would be more than helpful!

train service from como to switzerland Posted: Mon March 31, 2008 12:26 AM UTC
4 of us are spending time at Lake Como, then have reservations in Wengen for a couple days. Having difficulty figuring out how to get there. I can get partial reservations from the Como S. Giovanni station to Lauterbrunnen through sbb.ch, but am nervous @ buying advance tickets unless we are sure we can get all the way to Wengen. Can we get train tickets when we arrive--or will it be too crowded in June? And is it easy to travel from Italy to Switzerland by buying a ticket in Italy? I'm doing the planning for our group and don't want to mess it up. Thanks for any help you can give us! Abels/Indiana
P.S. Then I hope it's possible to get from Wengen to Milan for our flight home????

Transport Bergamo airport to Como Nord Lago Posted: Sun March 9, 2008 01:11 PM UTC
Help! I've read all the forums and train timetables and am now totally confused. Which is the best way (apart from expensive taxi) to go from Bergamo airport to Como Nord Lago (our hotel is just near this station)? Also, any help on costs and times would be helpful. We intend to travel around on ferries and also use the local buses etc - can we buy some form of travel pass to last from Monday to Friday?
Many thanks.

If you could only visit one of Lake Como or Lake Garda during an Italian tour, which would it be? And why? Where would you recommend to eat/stay? I'm planning a 25th wedding anniversary for next May and am looking for clean, safe, friendly accommodation and experiences (all on a budget)!!!
Thanks!
