Como train service from como to switzerland
Posted: Sun March 30, 2008 11:26 PM UTC
4 of us are spending time at Lake Como, then have reservations in Wengen for a couple days. Having difficulty figuring out how to get there. I can get partial reservations from the Como S. Giovanni station to Lauterbrunnen through sbb.ch, but am nervous @ buying advance tickets unless we are sure we can get all the way to Wengen. Can we get train tickets when we arrive--or will it be too crowded in June? And is it easy to travel from Italy to Switzerland by buying a ticket in Italy? I'm doing the planning for our group and don't want to mess it up. Thanks for any help you can give us! Abels/Indiana
P.S. Then I hope it's possible to get from Wengen to Milan for our flight home????

Como Transport Bergamo airport to Como Nord Lago
Posted: Sun March 9, 2008 12:11 PM UTC
Help! I've read all the forums and train timetables and am now totally confused. Which is the best way (apart from expensive taxi) to go from Bergamo airport to Como Nord Lago (our hotel is just near this station)? Also, any help on costs and times would be helpful. We intend to travel around on ferries and also use the local buses etc - can we buy some form of travel pass to last from Monday to Friday?

Many thanks.

If you could only visit one of Lake Como or Lake Garda during an Italian tour, which would it be? And why? Where would you recommend to eat/stay? I'm planning a 25th wedding anniversary for next May and am looking for clean, safe, friendly accommodation and experiences (all on a budget)!!!

Thanks!

Does anyone know if extra trains run from Como to Monza at the time of the Formula1 GP, September 7-9? I've seen lots of information for extra trains from Milan.

Or can anyone recommend an easy way to get to the circuit?

Thanks

Como Searching for points of interest.....and more
Posted: Fri August 10, 2007 08:10 PM UTC
I just found this WONDERFUL website today. I'm hooked and it's nice to see everyone so helpful and so many of you. If I could have the honeymoon like from “1000 places to see before you die” I would have lived a perfect life, almost. By the way, it’s where I learned about Lago di Como. To the point.

September 10-16, 2007 I will be spending the first part of my honeymoon at the Metropole Suisse Hotel in Como. This wasn't my first choice, but after 3 other hotels were booked, I took it. At least it is in a convenient location. I also have a rental car along with my new Garmin GPS (I have load a considerable amount of Points of Interest to it already), which I hope to exploit and can travel to some of the harder to reach and smaller towns in the area.

What are some of the must see and must eat places that you guys have encountered? I love authentic food and willing to try about anything. I just emailed a restaurant called Il Caminetto (sp) where on Thursdays you can take a cooking class! What about the fabulous wines they must have in the lake region?

Rental Car- If we want to go to Bellagio or similar for the day is it worth driving or just take the hydrofoil? I hear parking is a pain! What are the best places to park?

My fiancé has told me that she isn't taking any clothes with her since she is going to Malian and Paris (two of the fashion capitals of the world) on the honeymoon, she is just going to buy everything. Any suggestions? My cousin lived in Italy for a couple years and was saying in Switzerland they had designer outlet malls cheap? Anyone know truth to that?

I love history, the old churches, forts, markets, you name it and I want to see it.

I know Como doesn’t offer much of a night life, but all I’m looking for is a local pub that stays open late…er, hopefully full of locals we can get to know! I love meeting new people and hearing the stories.

Again, I really appreciate any suggestions! Grazie!

Como Riva al Lago B & B in Como
Posted: Mon April 30, 2007 04:39 AM UTC
Does this place look like their web-page or has the one photo on VT been altered for artistic effect. I am taking some others who have not been
to Italy..and probably wouldn't want to stay in the VT photo. Making
reservations and could really use an answer. We only have one night and
the pub sounds great, and it seems convient before we leave for the states.

Como Best way to Lake Como
Posted: Wed April 4, 2007 02:35 PM UTC
What is the best way to travel from Bergamo airport to Lake Como? Don't mind trains but would preferably like to take a bus all the way. Possible?
We will be arriving at 9.30am and on the return journey will need to be back at Bergamo at 8.30pm on a sunday night.

Any info will be gratefully received.

Como Flights and things to do
Posted: Sat December 30, 2006 10:24 PM UTC

Hi,

My mother's just moved to Argegno, on the western shore of lake Como and of course I'm off to visit her next week. ;-)

We want to spent some time in & around Argegno but also visit Como (a second time for me after a day trip from Milan 4 years ago). My fiance hasn't been there yet and I want to show him round.

Apart from going on walks, we'd like to visit Gravedona in particular. Any other suggestions of must-see places? I know most villas are closed over the winter. Does anyone know whether the furnicular to Brunate is open? And I've seen Pigra mentioned, not too far from Argegno. What is there?

As the boats seem to work frequently, except perhaps for Saturday 6th January, we intend to get a day pass & do some village hopping Thursday or Friday.

One question I do have is if anyone has recently flown from Bergamo to the UK. Were you allowed wine in your cases (not hand luggage)? How strict are they at Bergamo airport? We brought some lovely vino home from our last few trips to Italy and would like to do so again.

Thanks alot!

Hi

Does any one know if the bus to/from Como and Bellagio run during the winter, particularly in December 28-Jan 4th

Thanks, I am planning a trip to Milan and am considering a short stay in Bellagio or Como - i know it will be chilly but would like to see a few cities on the lake.

Also, does any one know if the hydrofoil is running at this time?

Thanks,

I have heard that you don't need to catch the Bernini Express to do this bit as all the trains go the same route through the mountains - has anyone got any information/advice about this. Also is it easy to do?
