It has just been brought to my attention that I may need an YHA card to be able to stay at La Primula (we've already booked it). Can anyone tell me whether I have to have a card, or whether we can just pay a few extra euros a night to stay there? Your help is much appreciated.

Does anyone have any information on how to get to Como by train? I would be coming from Bergamo, and would like to have an idea about the travel time and price. Thanks!

Does anyone know any good campsites near Varenna, Menaggio, Bellagio or Tremezzo?

Would someone please tell me what I can do at Lago di Como in November? Aren't most attractions closed by October? I'd really like to experience the lake district but I'm limited to a November visit. I'm leaning towards Como over M. and G. Should I bother to make a day trip out from Milano (by train)?? Or should I skip the lakes because of bad Autumn weather and lack of open attractions (like gardens and villas)? Your opinions are highly valued. Thanks!

We are looking forward to our holiday to Lake Como in 2-3 weeks' time. My husband and brother-in-law both smoke and would like to know the price of cigarettes and tobacco, with a view to bringing some home if it is not too expensive. Can anyone help?

we are planning a trip in october. is october too late in the season to go to lake como. where is a good place to stay and how do you get around. we would fly into milan. how do we get to como or hotel from milan.

We are planning a trip to Lake Como this summer and are unsure which town to base ourselves in. We have ruled out Como itself as we prefer smaller towns. Can anyone suggest which is the better of Bellagio, Varenna or Menaggio - or other similar alternatives.

Things like ease of traveling to other towns on the lake and how quiet or not, quality restaurants.

We will tour the lakes from Lake Maggiore, around Lake Como.
We would like to visit Swiss border towns via auto or boat.
What are the documents requirements? We are both citizens of the USA, and will rent the auto in Italy.
