Curitiba Flowers

Help.

Does anyone know where I can order Christmas flowers for my fiance in Curitba prior to my arrival on Christmas? I would like the name and phone number or email address of a good florist in Curitiba who can deliver before Christmas because I won't be able to purchase them when I arrive on Christmas Day. (They need to communicate in English since I do not speak Porteguese). Thanks...

Hi there,

My partner and I will be in Curitiba for three nights later this month, and I was thinking of booking the following hotel:

FULL JAZZ SLAVIERO
RUA SILVEIRA PEIXOTO, 1297 BATEL

Is this location convenient to things to do, places to eat, and so on?

Thanks in advance!

Curitiba About Race Issues in Curitiba
Posted: Sat November 27, 2004 12:25 PM UTC
Curitiba seems like a beautiful place to live. My husband & I are considering moving our software company Curitiba.

Let me apologize if I unintentionally offend anyone. I have come to understand that many Brazilians are proud of the diversity of their society (and rightly so). However, I have seen a few studies and reports that indicate that my daughter and I may be not be accepted.

We are an interracial couple. My husband is Italian, Irish and Norwegian. I consider myself African American, however I guess Brazilians might consider me "mixed race" as I have an African, French, Native American, and Irish heritage. I am also concerned that our daughter might also encounter difficulties.

I realize that the US is famous for its racism, however we have lived in large urban and progressive areas in the East Coast, Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, so I have not regularly encountered much overt racism that is prevalent in other parts of the US. I am afraid, that I might encounter a different kind of racism than I accustomed to or prepared for.

As people who have lived, visited and worked in Curitiba could you perhaps give me your perspective of race issues there. Studies and reports alone, are not always the best way to access a situation.

My Concerns:
~Will my daughter receive fair treatment if she attends school there?
~Will people refuse to rent and sell property to us?
~We are planning on hiring up to 20 employees. Would the average worker be comfortable working for and accepting the authority of an African American woman?
~Will restaurants and other businesses refuse me as a customer.

Curitiba seems like such a progressive, forward thinking city. Is it possible that some of the things I have read are isolated incidents? If they are true, is it possible that things have improved in recent years. Or, do I need to understand that If I move to Curitaba, I might be exposing my daughter to unneeded pain and jeopardizing the growth of our business.

Thanks for sharing your views with me.

Posted: Thu June 24, 2004 05:23 PM UTC
What nis the best, and fastest, way to go from Curitiba to Foz Iguacu? We will be visiting Curitiba in August, for one week. It has been recommended that we see the falls while we are there. We would be travelling with two small (under 2 years of age) children.

Curitiba CURITIBA - Looking for a FABULOUS day spa for luxurious beauty treatments
Posted: Tue February 3, 2004 04:58 PM UTC
I am spending a few weeks in Curitiba (been before) and I'm so exited to return. I am going this time with a friend and we want to spend a day at a really upscale spa. We want to get facials and massages and pedicures and all that yummy stuff. I can't seem to find anything (in English anyway) on the web about the different "spa's/salons" in the Curitiba area. Any help, recommendations, or websites would be so appreciated! Thank you!

Curitiba Apartments to rent while traveling in Curitiba Brazil
Posted: Wed December 24, 2003 03:30 PM UTC
I will be moving to Curitiba sometime around July 2004. I will be looking for an apartment to rent for at least 1 year. I will be doing alot of weekend traveling to various tourist locations around the area. I'm told the public transportaion system is very good. Would leasing a vehicle or using public transportation be the best way to see the sites of Curitiba and surrounding areas?

I speak only English. Will I have difficulty comunicating? If I were to try to learn a little of the language, would Portuges or Spanish be the one I should learn?

Also, what could I expect to pay for a 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment? Furnished and unfurnished?

Thanks,
David

Has anyone ever taken the Train Ride to Paranaguá out of Curitiba Brazil? Also could you some recommendations for reasonable but air-con and private bath accommodations. We will be traveling by bus so if there is something near the bus station that is nice that would be helpful.

Curitiba Bars and dance clubs in Curitiba
Posted: Mon October 6, 2003 03:18 PM UTC
Where are some good bars and dance places in Curitiba? I absolutely LOVE little, cheap holes in the wall with great Brazilian dance. No techno, please.

A major concern is safety, since I go out fairly late and come home fairly drunk. A lot. But, hey, I like it.

I'm from the SF bay area and have been in Portugal (mainly Lisboa and Coimbra) for seven months.

I used to do a little Capoeira in the US. Ny nickname was beija flor, or hummingbird, because I was always all over the place. That's why I love dance, especially Brazilian. The words "beija flor" mean flower kiss. But I spent so much time in Capoeira getting up close and personal with the gym mats that I decided on my name, meaning "one who kisses the floor."

Curitiba surfing / recom. beaches near Curitiba, Parana ??
Posted: Mon January 20, 2003 10:47 AM UTC
Hallo dear Friends & Travellers,

I´m going to spend 3 monthes in Curitiba (parana) from February to end of April, 2003.

Now I wonder if anybody knows if there are some nice beaches around this ares within 2 houres of drivingtime from Curitiba, maybe with some "surfspots".
If non of yours is surfer, maybe anybody saw some surfers somewhere in Parana.
And if somebody of you actually did surf down there, I would be interrested in the conditions, behaviour and so on.

If so, please tell me.
3 monthes is a long time, with a lot of weekends which I would like to, in addition to visit some other poínts of interrest, spend on some nice beaches enjoying the summer down there.

Curitiba Curitiba, Parana, Brazil ... a good place to live?
Posted: Fri January 17, 2003 09:52 AM UTC
Does anybody know something about living in Curitiba?

My company sends me for 3 monthes there, and I convinced my girfriend to quit her job and come with me !

Now I heared that Curitiba is an "untypical" Brazilian City, where the people are "cold" and even Carnevall is not celebrated !!

Could anybody convince myself that it was still a good idea to go there with my girlfriend, or was this a big FOULT !!

Please help,

Best regards,

Yours,
Markus
