Curitiba airport shuttle buses
Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 02:25 PM UTC
My flight (if on time) arrives in Curitiba at 23.30. Allowing for delays etc. I may not get out of the terminal before- say - 1 am.

Does anyone know what time do the Aiport Shuttle Buses or the normal buses stop be running into the City?

Curitiba Train tickets
Posted: Sat March 24, 2007 08:05 PM UTC
Dear members,

I have tried this website http://www.serraverdeexpress.com.br
I also gave it to my travel agent In Brazil. I want 2 tickets on the left side for the train journey. This has been recommended in these forums as well as Lonely planet guide. My travel agent In Brazil says that seats are allocated in random and is unable to promise me seats on the left side. I am planning that particular journey for 25th May'07. I think being so much in advance there should be a way for it. Or is it first come first served and you can choose your seats?

Is ther any 1 st class compartments or all seats are passenger class/economy class?
input much appreciated.

Curitiba Moving to work in Curitiba for 6 mths and want to find an apartment
Posted: Wed January 3, 2007 01:25 AM UTC
Dear all

I am assigned to work in Curitiba for 6 mths starting from late Jan 2007 by the company and will come with my wife.

The company finds me a hotel with just a microwave and fridge. As we like doing our cooking and importantly six months is not a short period and staying in a hotel will definitely drive us crazy, we wish to find a furnished apartment with two bedrooms, kitchen, belcony and basic electric appliance.

My questions are:

1. Can I easily rent such an apartment for 6 mths in Curitiba?
2. What will be the normal rent for an apartment say 70 square meters?
3. By what source could we find these informations?

Your advise/help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Curitiba Best way to travel from Curitiba to Buenos Aires
Posted: Mon February 13, 2006 01:01 PM UTC
Ola,
I am going to be in Curitiba at the end of March for the Global Biodiversity Forum, I can't wait. I'm planning this trip at the last minute as I have only just managed to get funding to go to the conference, and would love to be able to visit a friend of mine in Buenos Aires after the conference. I don't think I'll be able to afford a flight though... could anyone tell me how much I should expect to pay for a bus ticket to Buenos Aires, and how long the journey would take?

I'm planning on travelling to Curitiba and Ilha do Mel in January, but I have a bus ticket to Camboriu (I'm coming from Argentina). Which is the best way to get to to Curitiba (or directly to Paranagua) from Camboriu? Are there frequent buses? Does anybody know a bus company that makes this connection? Thank you!!!

Curitiba Money matters Curitiba
Posted: Tue December 6, 2005 08:23 AM UTC
Hey,
I was just wondering, for those that live in Curitiba, how long will 10,000 dollars or around 20,000 to 23,000 reais with the current exchange rate, last me, a single traveler. I would like to live a rather comfortable life...nothing too lavish just a 1 br furnished apartment, monthly fees for jiu jitsu and muay thai at the academia ChuteBoxe, eating out a couple times a week, and going out on weekends? Also, I would like to go to some beach cities while I am there (Ilha do mel, Floripa, and any other nice beach towns). I would probably take a 1 week trip to a beach city every month/month and a half. Also, I would like to teach some english, but don't have a TEFL or any type of certification. Also, are there any big festas on the same scale as carnaval or oktoberfest(blumeneau) near curitiba from january until the time I would leave? Thanks in advance.

Curitiba Transportation and travel time between Curitiba, Joinville, Balneário Camboriú?
Posted: Thu September 8, 2005 07:06 PM UTC
Also would apreciate any info about those cities. I originally wasn't going to Blumenau, but since I'm traveling at the time for Oktoberfest, I feel it would be a crime NOT to visit. Also any info about lodging or points of interest in and around those places would be apreciated. Thanks.

Curitiba Please help me plan my vacation in and around Curitiba
Posted: Tue August 30, 2005 07:08 AM UTC
Hi. I've been to Rio 4 times and loved it, but this time I thought I would do something different. Here is how my itinery and my plans look like (so far):

Oct 4: fly in Curitiba around 7:30PM.
Same night: take overnight bus to Iguazu falls.
Oct 5,6: stay in Iguazu.
Oct 6 night: take overnight bus back to Curitiba.
Oct 7 morning: arrive in Curitiba, tour Villa Velha. Overnight in the city.
Oct 8 morning: take the train to Paranagua, then ferry to Ilha Do Mel.
Oct 8-12 on the Island
Oct 12 10:50 AM fly out Curitiba.

Like I mentioned before, I've never been in the region, so I apreciate any comments, suggestions, tips, etc. As you understand my flight days are pretty much set but I haven't booked anything between the flights yet, so nothing is carved in stone. If you think I should spend more time in one place rather than another, or have any other suggestions, please let me know.

I do have a couple of specific questions:

1. What's the weather like on Island Do Mel in October? Can one actually swim in the ocean? I was on Ilha Grande same time last year and really enjoyed the weather: warm and pleasant, not nearly as hot as Rio in January. Is it much colder on Isla Do Mel?

2. What time should I live the island in order to get to the airport by 10AM. Are there any boats that would take me from the island so early? Should I avoid trying that and go to Curitiba the day before (spend night in the city)?

2. What do you call the bus with those fully reclining seats in Brazil and what coould be the cost (ballpark) from Curitiba to Iguazu? Also, do I need to book in advance?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Curitiba Emerging bairros no Curitiba ...
Posted: Mon April 18, 2005 06:54 AM UTC
Hello, Jeff here. My wife and I are planning on purchasing an apartment in Curitiba. Can anyone tell me where the emerging areas are? We would like to live in a place that is relatively safe, with younger professionals, artists, or university students. We're not necessarily looking for yuppie or posh places, but more for emerging 'lagalzinho' places. Also, what are the traditional neighborhoods that are good?

Many thanks,
Jeff.

Curitiba History in Curitiba?
Posted: Wed March 30, 2005 09:11 AM UTC
Oi,
I will be passing through Curitiba on my Brasil trip at the end of the year. I am very interested in historic architecture. What does Curitiba have to offer? Like palacios or baroque churches? I have heard of an italian neighborhood, which has interesting architecture and many restaurants.

Unfortunately, when I see pictures of Brazilian cities, it usually only shows the skylines full of skyscrapers and tall buildings, and you know they basically all look the same...

Which other city in the south of Brazil do you strongly recommend visiting?
Obrigado!

Curitiba Questions on Moving to Curitiba
Posted: Sun January 23, 2005 09:56 PM UTC
My wife’s father is in Cabo Frio, Brazil and is considering a move south to the Curitiba area. He is a commercial HVAC engineer, experienced in the repair of air conditioners and refrigeration/freezer units. Do you have any recommendations on which neighborhoods he and his wife and 3 children should live in, and is Curitiba good for business and job opportunities? Any recommendations you have in moving to Curitiba would help.

Obrigado!
