Ilha de Fernando de Noronha what's the weather usually like (at the end of March, beginings of April)?
Posted: Wed April 9, 2008 09:31 AM UTC
Hi VTs

I was thinking about visiting Fernando de Noronha at the end of March, begining of April next year, so one ofmy main concerns was the weather. I checked the current weather on the usual website, like weather.com, and it's not looking good.

I also looked for comments on the local weather and found the following info. Here (http://www.noronha.com.br/english/environ.htm) they say that:

"The climate is tropical, with two well defined seasons: the rainy season from January to August, and the dry season for the rest of the year. The heaviest rains occur between March and July, sometimes reaching almost 8 inches in 24 hours in March and April. October is the dryest month, when rainfall will not be greater than 0.36 inch in a 24 hour period. The average temperature is 77° F, with a variation of only 7.4°. The hottest months are January, February and March. The relative humidity varies little from 81.5 % due to the islands characteristics. Average annual sunshine is 3.215 hours per day, with a maximum in November and a minimum in April."

Here (http://www.discoverbrazil.com/destinations/brazil/fernando-de-noronha-weather/) they say that:

"The island can be visited any time of the year. Temperatures are always warm and mild (26°C or 79°F), with a gentle breeze. The climate is tropical, with two well defined seasons: the rainy season from January to August, and the dry season for the rest of the year.
The heaviest rains occur between March and July, sometimes reaching almost 20.3 cm (8 inches) in 24 hours in March and April. During this season the island is green and at its most beautiful and the temperature slightly cooler. October is the driest month, when rainfall will not be greater than 0.91cm (0.36 inch) in a 24 hour period. The average temperature is 25° C (77° F), with a variation of only a few degrees.
The hottest months are January, February and March. The relative humidity varies little from 81.5 % due to the islands characteristics. Average annual sunshine is 3.215 hours per day, with a maximum in November and a minimum in April. Best times for Surfing From December to February/March the waves are perfect for surfing.
Best times for Diving and Snorkeling August through December are the best months for diving and snorkeling in the Mar de Dentro (Atlantic north coast of island, facing the mainland, where the bays are more protected). Between January and March the Mar de Fora (south coast of island) is calm and excellent for diving and snorkeling."

I'm sure there are many other such comments, so my only questions are: is it really a bad ideea to visit Fernando at the end of March, beginings of April (i.e. what looks to be the hight of the rainy season) and try to do some diving? Would it be a much better ideea to visit the island in August, September, October?

Any comments/suggestions you may have will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ilha de Fernando de Noronha Fernando de Noronha

I am goingo to Fernando de Noronha with my husband and 5 kids. I am getting confused with so many tours they are offering. What are the ones I should not miss? And the ones we could do by ourselves? We will rent buggies and are trying to avoid "tourist traps". I thank you all in advance for any tips that might help.

Does anybody know a nice but not very expensive hotel in Fernando de Noronha? I am going with my husband and five kid/teens and I am thinking about staying in Vila dos Remédios, so that they can walk aroud indepedently if they wish. Are there comfortable guesthouses over there?
Thank you

Ilha de Fernando de Noronha dolphins
Posted: Mon January 29, 2007 04:15 AM UTC
I heard that as many as a thousand dolphins come into bay each day. It seems like it would be an awesome sight yet there are no pics of it and I heard that they no longer allow trips to the bay to view it. I wanted to take a trip here to see the dolphins but if it's only groups of a few here and there it's not worth the trip. Has anyone been there recently and if so are there any dolphin viewing tours in the bay any more. And how cool is it REALLY? thanks!

Ilha de Fernando de Noronha Accomodation
Posted: Tue September 19, 2006 01:54 AM UTC
Hey,

I'll be at "Ilha de Fernando de Noronha" at the end of FEB and was wondering if anyone could recommend a place to stay. I'll be by myself, so somewhere I can meet people would be best. Maybe a youth hostel? And I'll also be on a tight budget.

Cheers!

I have seen various bits of info re taking money to the island. Does the bank have an ATM? Can credit cards be used widely, or do you need to take all your cash with you.

Any help appreciated. Am travelling solo and am finding reasonably priced accomodation an issue but the site has been useful

Ilha de Fernando de Noronha Does anyone know how to get to Fernando de Noronha by ferry / sailboat?
Posted: Wed March 15, 2006 11:15 AM UTC
I'd like to find a way to get to Fernando de Noronha in a way that's not too costly. It's a beautiful place and definately worth the visit if you have the money to fly or take a cruise. However if there are other ways it would be really cool to know and spread the word so more people can get to go. I was wondering if anyone knows about or has tried ferries, sailboats, or some unconventional methods. The island is over 500 km from the shore, so whatever way it is it would have to be safe as well over the distance. Thanks a lot!

Ilha de Fernando de Noronha Cash?
Posted: Tue March 14, 2006 07:46 AM UTC
I'm going to Fernando de Noronha and would like to know what the cash situation is. I've heard you need to take loads of cash as there are no ATMs and just one bank. Is this still the case and how do I get cash from the bank there?
Also I will want to rent a dune buggy. Will they take a credit card or will I need to take more cash to cover that too?
What credit cards do they accept? I have a VISA.
I am going for two weeks, how much cash do you recommend I take?
Many thanks in advance.

Ilha de Fernando de Noronha Please help! : ) Should I take PADI diving school in Fernando or just dive for fun?
Posted: Fri August 26, 2005 06:21 AM UTC
Hi there! Please help!

Its my first time diving and I am going to Fernando de Noronha September 9-16 because it looks like the most amazing place to dive. I want to go to the best dive sites I can as a beginner.

Does anyone know someone who learned to dive there for the first time or did the PADI diving certification? Did they go to great dive sites? Or would it be better to just pay by the day in order to go to great dive sites?

Oh and by the way, could you recommend a great but not super expensive pousada? Im hoping to find one thats $100 US a night for 2 people, $250 R Brazil dollars.

Ilha de Fernando de Noronha Max Comfort & Fun with Kids?
Posted: Mon February 28, 2005 01:29 AM UTC
We are considering going to Fernando de Noronha with our 7 and 11 year-old daughters on March 23rd for about a week. Where would you suggest we stay for maximum comfort and good food? Price is a secondary concern. Also, what is the weather like at the end of March? Is it rainy? Finally, what suggestions do you have about activities for young kids? They are snorkelers and good swimmers. (Sharks?) Is there an eco-tour guide you can recommend? We're new members...so thank you for your help. We look forward to being of help for other destinations...as we've travelled quite a bit. Warm wishes, Pat

I'll spend a week on Fernando in February. Can anyone give me some good advices about a cheap pousada (around 20 US$ for a single)?

I'l be travelling on my own - where can I meet people there?

I already booked my flight there - do I need any other permission in advance I know about the tax but do I need anything before I go?

Thank you so much!!!

Ilha de Fernando de Noronha Diving Trip to the Island
Posted: Sun November 7, 2004 01:10 PM UTC
Hi

I also want to visit this Island for sure. Wanna go diving there... I am planning on going to Manaus first for 6 days and then come here. Does that make sense?

I will start in Sao Paolo and try to leave my excess luggage behind so I only travel with my backpack. Should be allright to bring that to the Island I guess.

Can anyone recommend a good and safe diving school? Any schools operated by Westeners?

Still must study my LP...

Ilha de Fernando de Noronha Baggage to Fernando de Noronha

How much baggage do they allow you to take to fernando. If I am over, will they simply charge me, or is there a chance I will have to leave things behind. I am on a 3 week trip including some business so have more than 15 Kilos. Is there an upper limit of what you can pay for?

Ilha de Fernando de Noronha Diving Groups in Fernando de Noronha

Posted this a week ago, and had no replies. please please, i know lots of you have been here..........Will be departing for Fernando de Noronha in a weeks time and can't wait to get there! Please could I have advice from people who have been there, on which diving school to go with. I've seen quite a few but the two main contenders it seems, are Aguas Claras and Atlantis. Don't know if this would make any difference but both myself and my boyfriend have never dived before.

Would also love to have any tips on specific beaches and tours to do . I hear that the marine turtles start to hatch around now! We are there for 6 days, so hopefully we'll be seeing most of the island. Any advice appreciated. Thank You

Ilha de Fernando de Noronha Diving in Noronha
Posted: Wed April 2, 2003 06:42 PM UTC
I expect to be in Brazil in July and hope to go to Noronha to dive. I see that there are two main dive operators there (with a third smaller one); one goes out in the morning and the other in the afternoon. These seem to be two-tank dives. Questions:

Does the boat go to two different dive sites on a single outing (one for each tank)?

Can a diver do both morning and afternoon dives?

What is a good length of time to stay there?

Thanks for any help.
