Fortaleza Renting a flat/apartment in the district of Iracema. Business in IT, media, webb..
Posted: Wed March 22, 2006 03:47 PM UTC
Hi all,

I am looking for an apartment/flat in the district of Praia de Iracema (Fortaleza) for 3 month to start with from May to August. I have stayed at the Hotel Casa Do Praia at Rua Joaquim Alves, 169, Praia de Iracema a couple of times before, but I am now looking for a one or two bedroom apartment or flat. I am looking for a location not to far from the beach and Dragao do Mar. I am planning to relocate from Sweden to Fortaleza. I do have some business ideas in the area of IT, media, webb. If someone is interested, please let me know.

Regards,
Henrik

Fortaleza re-locating to Combuco
Posted: Sat February 18, 2006 11:56 AM UTC
Hi everyone

This is Mike and Vanessa from Portsmouth England here.
We are looking to relocate to Combuco in Ceara and would welcome any advice at all regards the local area - things to do etc. Is it safe, restaurants and shops, is there much development in the area, is the planned golf course going ahead and as we may be opening a small bar in Combuco are their many foreign holidaymakers there.
Any remarks/advice would be most welcome.
Thank you all.

Fortaleza How safe it is?
Posted: Sat February 11, 2006 05:53 PM UTC
I want to go to Fortaleza, in Ceará, Brazil, and I would like to know how safe or unsafe it is. I mean, is it like Salvador de Bahia, where everybody warns you not to go out walking at night, but always take a taxi? Or is it like Maceió, where you can walk along the seaside at night without any problems?
Is it easy to move around by yourself?

Fortaleza Flights and Real estate
Posted: Fri February 10, 2006 02:41 PM UTC
Two part question.

First are there any direct flights from MIami to Fortaleza? I can't find any and i think it is ridiculous not to have one. It seems like such a waste of time going through Sao Paulo

Second, I am looking to buy beach front land or houses outside of fortaleza, preferably south. If anyone has any good contacts, then I am all ears. Thanks!

Fortaleza Moving to Fortaleza
Posted: Wed January 11, 2006 09:58 AM UTC
Hoping that someone can give me some advice on a move my partner and I are planning.
We are currently living in Spain, I am English and she is Brazilian, we plan to move to the Fortaleza area, purchase a property of around 120,000R and set up a small business venture, maybe a beach type bar or small restaurant.
My concern is the general living aspect of Forteleza what are the good and bad areas to live, how realistic is the plan to open a small business and is there any work in Fortaleza (I am a mechanical engineer, and can also work as plumbing and general repair work as well.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Fortaleza 6 hours layover... what to do?
Posted: Fri November 25, 2005 08:38 AM UTC
Soon enough it appears that i'll be having a 6 hours layover in fortaleza - and am wondering what to do...

i guess preferably we'd like to head to the city center or some village/attraction near the airport... but do bear in mind that we'd like to do something where we can keep our money on us (hence swimming is out of question, I guess).

any ideas are welcome...
thanks in advance

Fortaleza Planning to visit in December
Posted: Sat October 22, 2005 10:03 PM UTC
I will be traveling to Fortaleza in mid-December. My 16-year-old son is competing in an international sailing regatta. We are staying at the Marina Park Hotel. Will I need to rent a car? How safe is the city, especially the area near the Marina Park Hotel? I understand cetrtain beaches are better for swimming than others. Is the beach near the Marina Park Hotel good for swimming? Whre are the better restaurants in the city located -- especially for seafood? Again, will I need a car, or is public transportation (taxi, bus) reasonably good?

Thanks you!

Fortaleza Is it ok to live in Praia do Futuro?
Posted: Mon October 10, 2005 01:25 AM UTC
Hi Everyone,

I'm moving with my family to Fortaleza in Nov 2005. I live for the beach and want to be close enough that I can get down there are swim and be home again in 60 minutes or less.

I'm not a sunbather, I just swim. I want to be able to get up from my desk and go for a swim during my work break each day. No taxi rides or 20 min car rides.

From what I can tell, Praia do Futuro seems to be the best beach in the city for swimming so I have been considering finding an apartment there.

However, I've communicated with a few people already in Fortaleza and they advise against it, saying Meireles and the like are better. But I believe the people advising me, may go to the beach once a month, have an icecream, maybe a swim and go home again. Nothing wrong with that and I'm grateful for their advice but I work on a different priority.

I 'need' to swim, daily if possible.

What do you think about Praia do Futuro? Given my wishes and your knowledge of the area, do you think it would be a good place to live?

Thanks for any input you might have.

Fortaleza living and working in Brazil
Posted: Sat September 17, 2005 01:53 PM UTC
Okay, first, let me apologize for having NOTHING in my account. I am a peace corps volunteer in bangladesh, and do not have frequent internet access. I will develop my profile ASAP tho.

on to the business...

I am interested in travelling to Brazil following my experience here (just extended four months, will leave march '06 -- arrived aug '03), after learning some portuguese at the language immersion program at middlebury college in VT. i want to do more than just "travel" through brazil. From this experience i have learned the value of both living and working in a place, speaking the language, and getting much more than a superficial tourist walk-through.

That being said, ive read many posts on this site, and it seems to be very difficult to aquire the necessary forms, visas, permissions to stay in Brazil for an extended period of time. I would be interested in teaching english, and have read some posts on the "Cultura Inglesa" where foreigners are able to teach. I also have a passion for capoeira, and though i am just a beginner (i have been teaching myself here, practicing basics with guys in my town), i really love it. i even went home for ten days last year and took the only 3 capoeira classes available in that span of time. Fortaleza is my ideal destination right now, as it has come highly recommended by a friend for real capoeira, and they even have a program with one Mestre there to feed poor kids who come regularly.

ANY information you all could relate back to me would be very useful regarding living, working, etc, in Brazil. Even if you aren't sure, but know where I could get more information, this would be helpful as well. As I said, its difficult to get internet access here, but I need to research this before committing to it. I dont know much, if anything, and I seem to get conflicting reports when I do receive information. I figure those whove been know best. I will head to brazil regardless following my time in southeast asia, its just a matter of for what and how long. thanks for your help and advice.
