I will be in Gangtok early part of March 2004, what can I expect weather wise and any suggestions for sightseeing and hotel. Not a trekker, older gentleman travelling solo so mostly into culture and architecture etc. Any and all suggestions appreciated. Maybe some else will be there who would like to join in. Aloha "O"

I am planning to travel and trek to sikkim. Can any one suggest the beast way to trek in sikkim.
1. Can i (+ a friend) trek alone (from Yuksam to Dzongri) or do we need a guide? 2. How expensive are these guides and how much it might cost. 3. Bing an Indian do i need any special pass to travel within sikkim? How easy is it to get these passes and what do i need (address proof/ date of birth proof) to get these passes? Can u suggest a nice place to stay in sikkim ( I am student basic suggestion are welcome). |

i am going to sikkim end of july....for the gochela trek...is this a god time...mine is a small group and we will be using tents.should the rain be a factor? anyone that has gone on this trek can help...

I want to tour Sikkim between 6th and 15th of June, 2003. The places I want to visit are Gangok , Peling and Yumthang. Is it a good time considering the monsoon in India sets in from early June?
I can't do it earlier as I would not get leave. Considering the same should I go ahead with my travel plans? |

I am going trekking in Sikkim in early May, for 7 days, with a small group. We will be in tents, of course. Any hints or info. about how cold it will be overnight at that time, and in the day. Hope someone can help, Jill
