heritage inn ,old delhi Posted: Sat July 5, 2008 04:19 PM UTC
hi, i hope someone can help.i have recently been in touch with the above property with a view to staying for a few nights next march.they have requested a 50% deposit{total of £125} before they will reserve the room.
all was well until my son came home , he found it odd that they were requesting a large sum of money.
i then went to show him the website[whichi had found impressive!} and the web site expired yesterday{july 4th}.
there are only two reviews on this property and that is the trip advisor ones.they both give excellent reviews.
help, can anyone assist please? laney

Fog in Delhi Posted: Sat June 28, 2008 09:39 AM UTC
My husband and I are planning to take our parents to visit Delhi/Agra/Jaipur at the end of the year. Unfortunately we have only 7 days to spare - 27th Dec to 4th Jan. We understand that fog plays havoc with flight arrivals and departures. We will be travelling from Chennai to Delhi and wondered whether it was safe to take a flight without the risk of having our flights cancelled or re-routed. Whatever happens we have to get back to Chennai by 4th Jan to fly out of India. We are wondering if we should travel by train to avoid flight disruptions caused by fog but this would eat up two whole days out of our 7 days although it would be a lot more fun. Any information and advice would be appreciated. Since we don't want to waste too much time on travelling around Delhi could you please recommend hotels or B&Bs in a central part of the city. Many thanks.
Cheers

Golden Triangle tours Posted: Fri June 27, 2008 10:29 PM UTC
My girlfriend and I are going to be in Delhi for a week in September and have been looking at some of the “Golden Triangle” tours. We have never been to this part of the world and are trying to keep things simple. Anybody have recommendations for a good company? How does one book a tour like this? Any suggestions or comments good or bad would be appreciated!

Ganj river Posted: Wed June 25, 2008 02:13 PM UTC
I couldn't figure out whichway the Ganj river runs. We would like to see Ganj and go by the shore. Which city or where is it that we see the steps going into the Ganj or where people to bath in Ganj? What city is it? We always see them in the movies.
If too far, is there a city close to Delhi that we can go and stay for day to see Ganj? We could do like a 7 hour train trip or so but longer.
Many thanks

Aware of flight delays Posted: Fri June 20, 2008 12:56 PM UTC
Hello, I'm going from Jaipur to Varanasi via Dehli. The most convenient flights have 2:10 hours change: Indian that comes to Delhi at 12:20 and Spicejet that departs to Varanassi at 14:35.
However, I'm aware of flight delays that occur often in India according to travel reports. I believe if Indian is late, money for Spicejet burn. What would you suggest:
1. Booking both flights and hope Indian is in time
2. Booking only Jaipur-Dehli and purchasing Dehli-Varanasi flight at the airport
3. Instead, booking both flights of the same airline , Kingfisher (very inconvenient time though).

Currency Posted: Wed June 18, 2008 09:08 PM UTC
Will be traveling to Bangalore soon. What is the best rate method to exchange currency? Should I purchase rupees here in the US, or should I wait until I get to India, and go to a bank or currency exchange? How about selling back rupees? Thanks!

Taxi driver for Delhi trip Posted: Mon June 9, 2008 04:50 PM UTC
Hi there
Will be in Delhi next month for 3 days before the start of our tour to Agra, Jaipur, etc.. Can anyone recommend a good taxi driver to take us to see the main sights of Delhi and how much will we be charged for each full day of sight seeing? We are not too bothered about the driver being a guide and accompanying us around the sights, just really need the transport and for the driver to be waiting for us.
Does the overall price include tips or are these extra? If extra, how much is an appropriate tip? We usually take guided tours, hence all the questions.
Thanks in advance!

Hotel Options Posted: Mon June 9, 2008 04:05 PM UTC
As most places that I have looked at do not take reservations so far in advance-- I arrive September 30th -- can anyone reccomend a decent hotel. I would like to spend no more that $50.00 per day. It must be clean. It should be somewhat easy to get to by the Metro. It should have a bar or be close to a plce where I can get a beer after a day of sightseeing. And finally it must be close to decent restaurants.
Thanks in advance

Driver from Delhi to Agra Posted: Mon May 26, 2008 05:42 PM UTC
We would like to find a driver to pick us up at the Radisson hotel around noon of January 24, drive us to Agra. We would like to return to Delhi late in the afternoon of the 25th.
Would this require two separate drivers? What is the best way to do this?
What do you suggest?

OPTICIAN Posted: Sat May 10, 2008 08:39 PM UTC
I will be in and around Delhi from July to October this year and I would dearly like to buy myself a couple of pairs of spectacles. Does anybody have any suggestions? If so how long ought I to allow for their construction?
That's the important part of my visit! However, if anybody has any accommodation suggestions ( my tastes run to spartan, central-ish and clean) then I would be very pleased to listen.
I am a soon-to-retire teacher from Cambridge, UK.
Many thanks,
