From "Firenze Campo Di Marte" to "Firenze Santa Maria Novella" at night (11pm) Posted: Sun September 6, 2009 11:01 AM UTC
Hi,
I am schedule to arrive from Rome at Firenze Campo Di Marte by 11pm. I would be traveling with Family & Luggage. I wish to go to Firenze Santa Maria Novella because that is where my hotel is.
Please let me know what is the safe & low cost means to travel between the above 2 stations? If I need to take a train, where can I buy tickets? How much will it cost? How much would a taxi cost? Availability? Same for Bus.
Thanks for all your help.
Regards
Mahesh

Day trip from Florence to Cinque Terre Posted: Fri September 4, 2009 04:31 PM UTC
Me and my wife would like to take a day trip to Riomaggiore Cinque Terre. Unfortunately we can allow only one day for this beatiful region. Can somebody advice how ro maximize our time. I guess, we have to take the train to La Spezia. Do I have to take another train to Riomaggiore or we can hike there. Do I need to buy train tickets in advance or not. Is anybody knows the most economical best way to get there and back in one day.

Apartments near Florence Posted: Sun August 9, 2009 12:12 AM UTC
We will be travelling to Italy and are looking for self-catering accommodation near Florence for two people for two weeks from mid-October. As we will not have a car we will need to be close to public transport. We would prefer to be within about an hour's train trip from Florence.
Does anyone have any suggestions for reasonably priced holiday apartments that fit these needs?

Half a day in Florence Posted: Sat August 8, 2009 12:57 PM UTC
Hi,
We will be in Florence from 8PM until next day 1PM.
Please advise us what best places we can see within this time.
Is it possible for us to visit any scenic places in Florence within this time?
Or do you think it is absolutely impossible spending just half a day in Florence?
Your advise is appreciated.

Re traffic fines in florence Posted: Tue August 4, 2009 12:04 AM UTC
We hired 2 cars in Florence last year and used them to travel down to Amalfi. The cars were returned to a depot in Sorrento as agreed. After returning home we got notification of 8 traffic violations for driving through restricted areas in Florence....something we were completely unaware of never having been in Italy before and having no warning from the car hire company. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Studiolo in Palazzo Vecchio Posted: Thu July 23, 2009 01:39 PM UTC
I read on this website that it is possible to see the Studiolo in the Palazzo Vecchio. However, I read in a guide book that it is possible to see it only from the doorway - that one cannot go inside. Has anyone been there recently, and do you know if it is possible to go inside the room. For how long is one allowed to stay in the room? Thank You, Margaret Shere

Academy or Archi Rossi hostel? Posted: Mon July 13, 2009 04:01 PM UTC
I have found these 2 to be pretty central located in florence and the pricing wise first is about 150 us dollor a night for 3 of us if we stay in a 3 person mixer room and about 97 if we stay at Archi Rossi, but it seems to me most of the hostels in Italy does not have kitchen, maybe some microwave that is about it, but they all provide breakfast it seems and some have promotion of free pasta or pizza every night except sat.
is that so? which one should I pick or is there are even better acommodations that have self service kitchen?
many thanks

Shortcut into Uffizi Museum / Best way to park the car Posted: Wed June 17, 2009 02:38 PM UTC
Hi,
My wife and me are looking forward to our Tuscany journey in June/July. One of the sightseeing spots we need to go is the Uffizi Museum. From earlier trips to Florence we know that there are long queues at the ticket counter.
I wonder if it is a good idea to stand up real early and be the first at the ticket counter? Or is buying tickets online the safest way?
As we stay near Siena, we come to Florence by car - do you have an advice where it is best to park the car outside of the city and take the train / bus?
Thank you very much in advance,
Mario
