Pantanal Pantanal in August

I'm going to be traveling to Rio in late August and we were thinking of doing a side trip to Pantanal and Iguaca as well. Are those areas worth visiting in August?

Pantanal is it really worth it?
Posted: Mon January 29, 2007 05:34 AM UTC
I'm planning a trip to brazil and I'm finding that I don't have enough time to fit all of my top spots in. I love nature, animals, etc... So I've always wanted to see the amazon, the pantanal, and iguazu. But now I want to add on Bonito and of course there's rio. Since I just had a baby recently, I no longer have the luxury to go for very long. So I'm thinking of skipping Pantanal and Bonito. The pantanal looks as if it might be kinda drab with just lots of birds (I'm not into birding) and the super cool animals are not regularly seen (i've seen coatamundi, crocs/alligators, deer, etc.) And bonito may be similar to spring diving in Florida with the large tarpon and manatees. If anyone's been to these places, I'd greatly appreciate your opinions. If I have only around 10 days or so (and even those laden with my feeling guilty)...is the pantanal and/or bonito really necessary?

Pantanal Corumba to Bonito
Posted: Tue October 3, 2006 05:25 PM UTC
We are travelling from Corumba to Bonito on a Sunday and the direct bus only runs Mon to Sat. Is there other buses we could get? Can we get a bus from Corumba to Miranda, then from Miranda to Bonito? Does anyone know which companies operate this route.

Pantanal pantanal tour from corumba?
Posted: Fri January 13, 2006 12:22 PM UTC
Hello! does anyone know of a reliable and cheap! tour company which does 4/5 day tours leaving from Corumba? or is there a cheaper way to see the pantanal? i'll probably be travelling on my own and havea pretty tight budget! (im just a lowly backpacker!) Have been looking at Ecological Expeditions, they look good but have no prices on their site! Has anyone taken a tour with them recently? What did you think? Thank you!

Pantanal camping at night
Posted: Sun December 18, 2005 02:16 AM UTC
Hi All

What’s the temperature in Pantanal in winter?
Especially, is it possible to camp in the area of Chapada dos Guimares
at night without turning into a block of ice? Is Chapada considered much colder than the other parts of Pantanal?

Thanks

Pantanal Pantanal and Bonito Questions
Posted: Sat June 18, 2005 06:17 PM UTC
I am planning on visiting the Pantanal and Bonito in August and have a few questions.

Many of the pantanal tours advertise horseback rides as part of the tour. I don't really like horses and I exceed the weight limit for most horses, so I don't think that's an option for me. If I can't ride the horses, will there be other options on the tour (boat ride, hike, etc.) while the rest of the group is on horses, or will I be stuck at the camp/pousada/fazenda while they are out?

I noticed that many of the tours in Bonito require a wetsuit. I'm worried that they may not have one large enough to fit me, so would like to find options that wouldn't require me to wear one.
How cold is the water in August?
Are there tours (hikes, rafting, snorkeling) that do not require a wetsuit?

Thanks for your help

Pantanal Pantanal Trip ?
Posted: Thu August 5, 2004 09:00 PM UTC
3 of us will be travelling all over Brazil during August & September, using an airpass. We want to see the pantanal, so we have booked a flight into Campo Grande and we leave 5 days later.

Will it be easy to book a 3 or 4 day tour/trip into the pantanal, once we arrive in Campo Grande?
Are there any good companies that we should look for, or bad ones we should avoid?
How much will a trip into the pantanal cost?

Thanks for your help

I'm going to brasil in 3 days and I absolutely want to see the pantanal. I haven't yet decided which town is the best to arrive and make a nice tour, considering that I only have 4 days to stay there and that I would prefer not to sleep in a camp. can anybody help me please?
do you think I can book directly when I am there or do I need to make a reservation before leaving?
thanks a lot!!!

Hi all!
We are travelling around Brazil during the month of September. We were thinking about going to Pantanal to see the uncomparable wildlife in there.
We would depart from Recife, but don't know where to go to join a tour or which is the best place to go... Looking also for cheap tours because our budget is not too big at all!:-)
ANY SUGGESTIONS APPRECIATED!
THANKS!
