Genoa Travel from Genoa to Nice
Posted: Sun April 13, 2008 04:04 PM UTC
I need to book a ticket from Genova to Nice at the beginning of June. I have to be in Nice for 12.30 md and was hoping to get the 8.55 morning train, but there is nowhere for me to book this ticket. I have looked at both Trenitalia and SNCF sites (RailEurope was not at all helpful and said that there must be engineering works). The train shows on the timetables on the internet but it says that tickets for that particular train cannot be booked on the internet. Is there any other way of getting to Nice for 12.30md, please? Does anyone know a way round the train ticket booking problem (everyday it is showing as not bookable - although it was a couple of months ago!)

Genoa 6-8 hours in Savona Genoa....
Posted: Thu April 3, 2008 08:42 PM UTC
My husband and I will be cruising the Mediterranean in May and will be stopping for 10 hours 9-5 in Savona Genoa. We would prefer to "freelance" rather than sign up for the cruise ship tours. What would you suggest? What are the "must sees" in Savona Genoa which we could gently visit while spending time strolling and enjoying the city with plenty of time for a non-touristy lunch? Or would we be better to hire a taxi to see some special sights? Oh! And does anyone have recommendations for a lovely lunch? Thanks! Marilyn

Genoa Genoa Layover
Posted: Mon March 3, 2008 12:58 AM UTC
I have 2 hours to kill around lunch time to switch to the train to Nice. Reading these posts it sounds like Genoa is like Naples less the charm...LOL Put my 2 bags in a locker and get lunch nearby, or wait it out and pray I'm not whacked in the station? It will be a few days before Easter. Thanks.

Is there transportation available at the Genoa Airport (GOA) that will take me from the airport to the Port of Genoa to sail on the Carnival Splendor European Cruise on July 2, 2008? If so, what is the fare in U.S. dollars per person?

Genoa Questions for DOMENICOCOCOZZA AND JETGIRLY:)
Posted: Sat September 15, 2007 08:45 PM UTC
Thank you so much for your replies. I am sorry that I am unaware how to reply directly to you instead have to post again to mass forum...my apologies. I have a few more questions if you can advise any help I would sincerely appreciate it.

To DOMENICOCOCOZZA: Thank you for your reply:) Have you heard of this Maura Guesthouse? I was planning to book through Ryan Air but it does not say wether they have a late check in??? We will arrive 12:20 am if train is on time. Thanks!!!

To JETGIRLY: Thank you for your reply:) You are right I have not thought about that. I did plan us to take the later train as we arrive at 6:45pm from Ryan Air then need to take Terravision Bus from Milan Bergamo Airport to the Milano Centrale Train Terminal at 8pm(I think with getting luggage and gettting to bus it will take at least 45 min, what do you think?) The bus site says plan an hour for travel so arriving at 9 pm into Milan centrale I thought was cutting it too close to depart at 9:10. I know when we purchase the Terravisioin tickets we can take any bus that day if we get in earlier or later as they run on the half hour or so. Do you know if RailEurope will allow us to take the train at 9:10 if we arrive there by then but have tickets for the 10:25(they were different prices on the website our tickets being more expensive for the last train)...I could not find anything on the website about taking earlier or later trains if we miss our ticket time.
Will look into Milan overnight may be easier but heard many praises of Genoa.
Thanks!!!

Genoa Cruising from Genoa
Posted: Sat September 15, 2007 05:58 AM UTC
WE are a little familiar with what to expect after reading the posts. My husband, family and I will be traveling to Genoa by train from Milan. It is set to dpt Milano Centrale at 10:25pm and get into Genoa at 12:20am. Okay so dark and scary and unfamiliar are all concerns at this hour. We plan to reside in the Guest House Maura for the evening before we sail the next day. Can anyone help with the following:

How far is it from the Genoa train station (Piazza Pri-according to the train website) to the following address, Via Bruno Buozzi 30/3, Genova, italy, 16126 and what is the safest way at this hour?

Has anyone heard of this guesthouse?

How far is it from this guesthouse to the MSC cruise terminal?

Best way on return from Cruise terminal(MSC Cruises) to the train station in Genoa(Piazza Pri) and approx time it take to get to train station from cruiseport?

If you do know any pricings for the travel within Genoa please let us know:)

Thank you so much for any help you can give.

God bless,
Jabibi

Genoa Genoa airport into Town Centre. Later Transfer to Savona Port
Posted: Sat September 15, 2007 12:05 AM UTC
Hello!

We are taking a cruise from Savona and will be flying into Genoa airport.

We were going straight from the airport to the port, but on reading these pages we'd now like to stay a few days in Genoa! Would three days be sufficient to see everything?

Would anyone know how to get into Genoa from the airport by public transport?

Would anyone know how to reach Savona from Genoa also by public transport.

Many thanks for any help. (I can't wait to have some Italian ice cream - even in the winter!!)

Genoa 1 Week in Genoa
Posted: Fri August 24, 2007 02:59 PM UTC
Hi Guys,

as part of our Europe Trip, we are thinking to spend a week in Genoa. Can you be kind enough please to suggest us (3 guys 23 years) where and how to spend this week.

For sure we are going to the Aquarium, and shall we dedicate one day for the aquarium or is it too much?

Are there any other places of interest, even outside Genoa, we heard San Remo is not very far and we are thinking of going there too.

We will have no car, so everywhere by bus.

By any chance how are the clubs in Genoa, are they wild as much as Malta? and I guess u have to pay for the entrance ey?

Thanks bforehand

Genoa Train Genoa airport to Vernazza
Posted: Fri July 6, 2007 01:24 AM UTC
Hi there,
we are arriving at Aeroporto Cristoforo Colombo and are trying to work out the easiest and quickest route by train in the early afternoon from the airport to Vernazza. The information I have found is a bit confusing. Can someone please help?

The options I have found are:
1) Take the Volabus to Principe Station in Geno and take a train to Vernazza from there (but there doesn't seem to be a direct train so where would I swap? Monterosso???)

2) Take a train from Genova Sestri Ponente to Vernazza via Monterosso.

I find the Trenitalia website difficult to navigate so any help would be greatly appreciated. For a start, which is the best station to be departing from? Do we buy tickets from that station? As there do not appear to be direct trains to Vernazza where is it best to change trains?

Thank you in advance.

There seems to be the possibility of a day cruise from Genoa to Cinque Terre and back in the same day. Does this service start in June? Has anyone taken this trip? Can you stop in a town for a while and take the boat back later in the day?

Hi,

In June, I will be in Sestri Levante (about 30 mi/48 km, one hour by train from Genoa). Is there an easier way to return to Bologna instead of train to Genoa, then two trains to Bologna?

Does anyone know when the bus leaves Genoa for Milan Malpensa Airport? There is one direct trip each day at 11:30 a.m. from Malpensa to Genoa. But I can't find the schedule in the reverse direction. I plan to be in Genoa in early August 2007.

Hi All,

I have just moved to Genoa and have not yet figured out how to move myself in the local area from point A to point B. To date I have been walking miles in the hot August sun!. Does anyone know where I can get a bus itinerary that details all bus numbers and where they go? is there perhaps a website? Thanks in advance for any help.
