Flying or Busing in to Curitiba? Posted: Sun November 1, 2009 05:20 AM UTC
Hey everyone thanks in advance for your advice.
I am relocating to Curitiba for a short term job posting and will first land in GRU. Do you guys advise me to take a plane, or take a bus to Curitiba? I am not sure the city of GRU has buses that will take me straight there.
The only reason I would consider the bus is the luggage allowance. I know the trip to get to Tiete and then busing it Curitiba can be considerably long. I am not sure about prices though- anyone has an idea?
Finally, would you recommend flying Web Jet? I saw that they have cheap prices to fly from GRU to CWB, only restriction is the 23kg luggage allowance. My flight will land in GRU at around 11:30am, and the next flight to fly to Curitiba is at 15:30. would that be enough time to grab my luggages, etc?
Many thanks for your help.

Going to Sao Jose dos Campos for Business Posted: Fri September 25, 2009 11:01 PM UTC
I will be in Sao Jose dos Campos for business and will be there for about one week. Due to my lack of Portuguese (I know a little Spanish) I don't necessarily want to travel to Sao Paulo too often for entertainment and sight seeing.
What is there for me to do in Sao Jose dos Campos in terms of sight seeing, entertainment, night life, etc.? How safe is the city?

From Sao Paolo Airport to Nova Lima, south east of Belo Horizonte, MG Posted: Sun September 20, 2009 12:25 AM UTC
Hi,
This is my first trip to Brazil.
I'll be arriving in the morning at Garulho's Airport (SAO).
I need to know what bus(es) to take, hopefully the same line, all the way from the Airport, to at least Belo Horizonte (MG).
Should I decide to stay close by the airport, which would be a reasonable priced hotel, with average standard of comfort and cleanliness?
If someone has already traveled this, or did this rout, let me know about it, as soon as you can
Thanks!

Traveling to Sao Paulo..any tips? Posted: Sun July 26, 2009 10:20 PM UTC
My family and I are traveling to Santiago, Chile. But we have a lay over in Sao Paulo, we will be there for six hours (from 12:00pm to 6:30pm). We would like to see as much as we could in that time. But we would like info about it, if we should even leave the airport for that short of time? What customs is like? and what is near the airport that we could see or do? Any info will be much appreciated.
Thank You

American in Sao Paulo for 2 weeks business - Weekend To Do's Posted: Thu July 9, 2009 06:14 AM UTC
Bom dia, Boa tarde, Boa noite!
I'll be staying in the Morumbi area for my stay but I have the weekend free and was wondering What would be a great experience for SP? Is walking around Avenida Paulista/Paulista Jardim/Ibirpuera Park safe? Also possibly somewhere to go for a drink/dance on the evening. My portuguese is very limited(but I'm trying :0)...) I'm in my early 20's so I'm up for most anything, just want to be safe and have fun. Obrigado in advance
Cheers!

Study Abroad-Sao Paulo ou Rio de Janeiro Posted: Fri July 3, 2009 05:12 AM UTC
Like the title says, I'm planning a semester abroad before I graduate. My options are either Fundacao Armando Alvares Penteado in Sao Paulo (FAAP) or Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-rio).
I was hoping someone might have some opinions about the social life at either of these institutions or the general area that either is situated in (FAAP is dead center in the middle of Sao paulo and PUC-rio is in Gavea.
Anyon?
Alguem?
obrigado

Guarda-Volumes? Posted: Sun May 31, 2009 02:26 AM UTC
Oi,
Can someone please tell me where the baggage storage site (Guarda-volumes) is located at the bus station, Rod. Tiete? Also, were are the elevators located there?
Now, one technical question---I will be arriving from GRU with two LARGE suitcases, and was wondering how I might buy a bus ticket without going upstairs to the counters....(and dragging everything with me!) Any suggestions?
Finally, is there a hotel within walking distance of the station....ahhh, I mean one where I'm not charged by the hour! Obrigado for any suggestions.

Guarulhos - SP - Guarulhos in 7 hours Posted: Tue April 28, 2009 12:47 PM UTC
Hi,
I have 7 hours to spend in Guarulhos waiting for a connection to London. I'm thinking about going to downtown SP or a any shopping to make it easier.
I know there's a bus shuttle service from Guarulhos but I need to know if 7 hours is enough time to go to downtown and be back to the airport.
If you can reccommend any thing to do in that time, is very welcome. Also where to take the shuttle bus back to the airport.
Many thanks in advance,
Rafa

Day trips around SP Posted: Fri April 24, 2009 09:32 PM UTC
I'll be in SP with my 13 year old daughter. We'll have 4 or 5 days for sightseeing. She would love some ecotourism type things (zip line, "jungle" tour, that sort of thing) but I don't think we'll have the money to fly to the Amazon area. I was thinking Iguazu. Any other suggestions for ecotourism around SP?

Tres Coracao Posted: Mon April 13, 2009 01:11 AM UTC
I need to go from Sao Paulo to Tres Coracao.
What are some of the ways to get there? Are there buses that go to Tres Coracao?
Where would I catch the bus, how long is the ride, and how much is it?
If there is someone who is really knowledgeable about this, I would appreciate any kind of information. Thank you.

Are metro card good forever? Posted: Mon March 30, 2009 11:21 PM UTC
Yeh, I opened up my map of Curitiba and some Sao Paulo metro cards fell out: a multiplo card and a few unitarios. It has been about two years since I've been to SP, but I'm thinking about stopping through the big city later this year. Will the metro cards still be good to use or do they expire after a set time? Just wondering.
BTW - I head back to beautiful Brazil next month but will spend all of my time in Rio.

going from Sao Paulo to Iguazo Falls Posted: Mon March 30, 2009 09:23 AM UTC
What is the best way to get from Sao Paulo to the Iguazu Falls? Can one go on his own by bus or plane without a tour and is it a problem to go by oneself from the Brazilian to the Argentinian side? How long is the bus trip? Does one need two days or is one day enough to get to the falls from Sao Paulo and back again? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sao Paulo Airport Bus and Public Transportation Posted: Sat March 7, 2009 11:35 PM UTC
Is there an airport bus from Guarulhos International Airport to Sheraton Sao Paulo World Trade Centre Hotel on Nacoes Unidas Ave in Brooklin Novo? If so, do you know where I'd be able to access the timetable and bus fare costs?
I would also like to know how to get to the Port of Santos for the Royal Carribean Cruise Line from the hotel mentioned above.
Since I have two days available, would I have enough time to make a side trip to Iguazu Falls?

Is this Hotel Good? Posted: Fri February 20, 2009 11:24 AM UTC
Hi,
I will be visiting Sao Paulo during the first two weeks of March 2009. I have reserved the room in the following Hotel
HOTEL - MAKSOUD PLAZA
ADDR: ALAMEDA CAMPINAS 150 TELEPHONE: 55-11-31458000
SAO PAULO, SP 01404-900 FAX: 55-11-31458001

Does this neighborhood good in terms of having restaurants, bars and a good night life around. Hotel is quoting $135 per night ( as this is within my range of around $200/night budget). Any other inputs would be appreciated.

Transport from GRU to Santos via Expresso Brasiliero Posted: Fri January 30, 2009 01:13 AM UTC
Thanks a lot for the response on how to get to Santos from Guarulhos airport. I read somewhere that you can pick up this bus on terminal 1.
Where can you purchase the tickets or can you just pay the driver as you board. Additionally, does anyone have any experience on this bus service as to safety comfort?
Regarding the transfers from Sao Paolo to Santos, Royal Carribean refuses to provide and sell transfers unless your flight arrives the same day as the cruise departure. My husband and I arrive in Sao Paolo a day prior to the cruise so as to allow any flight delays so now we are looking for other ways to get to our cruise ship in Santos.
Thanks.

3 weeks in South Amercia Posted: Wed January 14, 2009 06:42 AM UTC
I plan to go 3 weeks to S. Am, but I know time is too short, so I limit to 2-3 countries - Brazil, Argentina, and/or Peru. My options are wide open as I have never been to S. Am. In future, I plan to do another trip to Chile and Antartica.
Question now:
What is the best places to visit among 2 or 3 countries as above with 3 weeks?
Please name the places + possibly transportation (bus, train, plane). If someone can roughly suggests the routing will be much appreciated.
Many thanks !

Transportation - Return to Guarulhos airport Posted: Tue January 13, 2009 11:46 PM UTC
We are flying to Sao Paulo in April - first time! One of the posters noted that there was a shuttle from Guarulhos airport to the Blue Metro station. Is there a corresponding return shuttle from the Blue Metro station to Gaurulhos? Has anybody used this means (shuttle/Metro) to get into Sao Paulo downtown from Guarulhos?
