Hi, I'm visiting Sorrento and want to spend some time in Ischia, but not sure how long to spend there.
I know it's much bigger than Capri which I believe can be seen in a day or so, so I'm not sure how long I would need. I have a friend who visited Ischia just for a day and said that they only had time to see the port town and so didn't do justice to the island.
What towns/villages should I definitely visit, which should I not bother with (using public transport)?
How many nights should I stay? 1 night, 2 nights?
Where is the best place to be based? we want somewhere that is fairly busy at night, ie, lots of restaurants etc rather than somewhere that is more remote and quiet.
Hope someone can maybe help with this.
Thanks
Sophie

My fiance and I will be taking a cruise through the Mediterrean as part of honeymoon this October.
Two questions:
1. What is the best beach for laying out/swimming and enjoying the thermal springs?
2. If we're traveling from the main port on Ischia would renting a moped or taking a water taxi be a viable option for transportation to the beach/springs?
Thanks!

What are the places you would suggest going to on Ischia island, we're going there in early September and we wanna write down a few places to go to, if you have been to Ischia and know some beautiful places, please suggest them...
And I mean places to go to not Hotels or places to stay in...
like "beautiful cliffs, seaside places" and so on...
We want to see the nature in there, and maybe the castles, churches ...
and maybe some really cool museums ( in that case the adresses and the exact names of these museums)

We want to visit Ischia for the first time this winter January 2-6 with our 19 year old daughter. Should we take our rental car over from Naples on the boat, or should we get one on the island instead?
We know it will be quiet since it is cold, but we love thermal hot springs and it is the only time we can go. The side by Forio looks very nice so are considering Royal Palm Hotel or something in that area since we will have a car to go into porto Ischia if we get bored. Or should we stay in town so our daughter has more to do? Any other recommendations welcomed! Our favorite hot springs so far are in Oregon and California, USA.

Hello - Can someone recommend a hotel about $200 euros/night (during first 2 weeks of June) that would have a nice thermal pool and nice clean rooms? Also we would love a terrace overlooking the sea.
Grazi!

Hi, I'm staying in Ischia (lived in Naples 4 yrs) and I use to stay at a hotel that had 2 pools outside 1) thermal and a wall u crossed to reach the cool pool. It had beautiful gardens surrounding the pools. I've searched the net for hours trying to find it. Any ideas?
Thanks

I'd like to take a morning boat directly to Forio - it seems I need to take one from Molo Beverello at 10:25 AM? I'm not sure if it's a hydrofoil or a
ferry, but it seems better to go directly to Forio than to Ischia Port. I've been told it's better to stay near Mergellina port than Beverello, but I don't think there's a good schedule to Forio from there.
Does anybody have any hotel or ferry suggestions to share? I leave for Europe in one week!

Hi guys,
I'm Carole, 36, and I'm thinking of booking a week in Ischia in July/August 07 in order to relax after attending a wedding in Madrid, Spain and after sightseeing around Italy.
I'll be going alone to Ischia. Never been to Italy before and I don't speak Italian. Well, I'm half Spanish/half French so I'm not too bothered about the language bareer (Italian is pretty similar to Spanish & French) but is there any risk of being hassled there as I'll be out and about on my own?
Thanks for advising
Carole

Is one side of Ischia better to stay in? Does one have more nightlife, ie...clubs & discos? Planning on going this June.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
