Bangalore first time in Bangalore
Posted: Fri May 23, 2008 02:27 PM UTC
Hi!
I am going to Bangalore for 3 weeks in June-July. This will be my fist trip to India and I can hardly sleep at night, I am SO excited!!!
I do not know what to expect - but I believe that that is the fun fo travelling, right?!
I am going to be volunteering in an orphanage on the outskirts of Bangalore. I have no idea of what my job there will really entail or what my working hours will be, but I am quite sure that I will have some time off here and there to go discover the area a bit.
So, I guess I would welcome ANY suggestions of things to see/do/explore/taste/wear/read/play/visit in Bangalore and the area that would be safe for a young female travelling alone. (I am REALLY into photography and children - I am a teacher here in the USA)
Thanks!

Bangalore Self drive MPV hire in Bangalore
Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 11:54 PM UTC
My brother who lives in Bangalore, and I, are planning to meet up in Kerela, and then drive back to Bangalore.

Schedule is Bangalore-Cochin-Ooty-Bandipur-Mysore-Bangalore. We are looking to hire a MPV (Innova/Sumo) for 10-12 days on a self drive option. I have looked at the majors (Avis/Hertz/Europcar) but find their cost too prohibitive.

Can you tell me if it is possible, and maybe pass on some contacts. My brother is a new banglorite and wouldn't have the contacts.

Thank you for reading this post, and much appreciate any help you can provide.

We are planning a trip in late dec - early jan. The route we would like to do is Chennai or Bangalore, then going to Hampi (2 days) and proceed to Coorg (3-4 days). Would like to know is anyone has done this route and what is the best possible transport and route for this trip.

1. Are the road connections good between these places?

2. Are there places between Hampi and Madikeri that we can make a stopover at?

3. Absolutely recommended things to do in Coorg.

Bangalore Bringing wine from abroad to Bangalore
Posted: Wed November 28, 2007 01:33 PM UTC
I am told that one can bring TWO WINE bottles into Bangalore while returning from abroad.

Does anybody have experience or know, whether one can get more than two bottles, without paying duty or getting the bottles seized?(for personal consumption and not for commercial purpose)

Will the customs people at Bangalore airport allow like 5 or more wine bottles?

Also, apart from the standard two bottles, is it allowed to get two bottles of liquor? or is the total quota is two bottles irrespective of wine or liquor?

Please do help
