We will be stopping in Livorno during a cruise in Late September and would like to know the best way to get from the port to the train station. The cruise line says the terminal will be Alto Fondale - Darsena Toscana/14

We want to travel to Florence for the day and only 10 - 12 hours in port. Thanks

Hi. Been reading all the posts on transport from Livorno and out to the outlying areas. Question: I read that cruise packages are a rip off and compared to doing, say Florence, on your own, this is true. BUT-- do you think the Tuscan hill towns are just as manageable on your own with the different train switches on the way to Siena as well as the bus rides to San Gimignano? I will be on a cruise visit in two weeks and am realizing how rushed a self made trip to the hilltowns might be. So I am either considering renting a car (also a complication for parking reasons) or just doing the "rip off" cruise excursions. For Siena and San G., what do you think?

we are having a day stop at livorno, italy on a cruise we are doing in july.
we would like to get a train from livorno to florence and maybe lucca, can anyone tell me if the trains go direct and how far florence and lucca are from livorno.

We are visiting livorno next month and would like to visit Pisa and Lucca. We are a bit undecided which town to visit first. We want back to the ship for 2 pm as we have somehting organised for the p.m. If we do Pisa first we would leave Livorno at 8.00 arriving at Pisa around 8.30. According to the Field of Miracles web site it states that the Cathedral is not open until 10 a.m. and I would like to see inside the Cathedral. Can anybody advise me if the site is correct as the Baptistry is open at 8.30.

In September I am going on a cruise which calls at Livorno from 7am to 7 pm.
I have alrady visited Florence and Pisa on more than one occasion. Can anyone suggest anywhere else to visit? Like to use public transport.

We need to be at Livorno port by 0700 hrs to go to Corsica. We have a campingcar 7.6m long and 3.25m high. Is there safe overnight parking at the port of Livorno? If not where is the nearest overnight parking availability? The only one in our camping guide is 10kms away at Catagnano. Thank you for any help.

We will be in Livorno for the day on Nov. 13, Monday. On our last visit we went to Lucca and this time we are looking for another daytrip using the local train or buses. We stopped in Pisa along the way so we're looking for other options. Any suggestions from those of you who call Livorno home or who have done trips of this sort?

What about San Gimiignano? Too far?

Thanks so much to Hivaoa1 for letting me know that the Livorno antique market no longer exists. I loved reading your Livorno Page! We may just rent a car at the cruise ship port and drive to Arezzo. If not, are there any antique stores or areas in Livorno to shop for antiques on a Sunday? We sound like old people but we're only in our 30's but we love antique shopping. If anyone knows if there are antique shops in Livorno, please let me know.

Will be docking in Livorno via cruise ship for 10 hours on Sunday, October 1, 2006. We love antique flea markets and heard that the biggest one is in Arezzo. How long will it take to get to Arezzo by car? If we don't have time for Arezzo, we read that there is an antique and modern show on the first Sunday of every month in Livorno, in the Venezia Nuova area. Does anyone have any information on this? If there is an antique and modern show on October 1, 2006, we were thinking about just spending the day exploring Livorno. Would appreciate any info.

Can you tell me how reliable Tuscany by Taxi is? We will be on a cruise ship coming into Livorno and thinking about hiring them for the day for a ride into Florence and possibly Pisa.

We will be docked in Livorno for one day and have rented a car. What is the best way to get from the ship to the car rental agency? A bus or taxi? We would like to drive to the Cinque Terre area. We know we can't see all the villages, but would like to see two. Is this feasible?

hi all, i am in croatia at the moment and will be flying to Rome, then a train to Livorno. I get in at 11pm an will need a place to stay for just the one night before I catch a ferry to Corisca. Can anyone recomend a place that is easy to get to from the airport and easy to get to the ferry? there is 4 of us traveling. It need not be fancy, jsut clean and safe for one night. I am hoping to get a reservation so I dont have to look when I get there.
