Livorno How long wil it take?
Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 08:12 PM UTC
If anyone could answer these questions:
1. How long will it take to drive from Livorno to Florence?
2. Is it easy getting from the cruise ship terminal to the main highway to get to Florence?
3. Is it easy to find the parking lot at the train station in Florence, or is there a better place to park?
4. How much does it cost to park in the train station in Florence?

Livorno cruise ship excursion or on our own?
Posted: Tue April 15, 2008 05:30 AM UTC
My husband and I will be on the RCCL Independence of the Seas in June 2008 and one of our stops is Livorno. We are undecided as to whether to take the cruise ship tour or go on our own. It seems to be rather easy to go to Pisa and also Florence on the same day if going by train. I would appreciate hear from anyone who has done this recently, Do you know the name of the port that RCCL stops at and also I would like to hear from anyone else who will be on this particular cruise which originates in Southampton.

Livorno What is a person supposed to do?
Posted: Sat April 12, 2008 03:50 PM UTC
Ok, so a stop in a hillside Tuscan village sounds like it is out of the question simply due to lack of time. Would you recommend renting a car in Livorno, driving to Florence (3 hours there), heading to Lucca (1 hour?), Pisa (30 minutes?) and then heading back to the ship? Or, can it also be done by train? Livorno to Florence to Lucca to Pisa to Livorno? I would like to see these three places if possible.

Livorno Is a car a good idea?
Posted: Fri April 11, 2008 09:57 PM UTC
Hi,

I have been told emphatically that driving in and around Naples is a no no, unless I am interested in a coronary or for my blood pressure to explode. I am heeding the advice of those who have gone before and those that might live there. My question here is, what is it like to drive from Livorno to Florence, then to Pisa and then maybe to some small village or town in Tuscany. Is the traffic negotiable and resonable or will I regret it. I will be in the area for one day (off a cruise ship) and I would like to see Florence and Pisa for sure and then maybe if there is time,( I know there probably won't be), maybe squeese in a Tuscan town. If it can be done, which Tuscan town would you recommend that is charming and quaint?

Livorno One day in Livorno!
Posted: Sun April 6, 2008 06:31 PM UTC
Please help with these questions: Visiting for one day aboard cruise ship.
1. Can I see both Pisa and Florence in one day by train?
2. Would it be possible to do it with a car rental?
3. Is it easy to navigate the roads from Livorno to Pisa and to Florence?
4. How long will it take to get to either by car?
5. From Florence, are there any Tuscan towns or villages we can visit on the way back to Livorno?
6. How far is San Gimignano from Livorno or Florence?

Livorno Livorno - Fit Pisa and Tuscany all in one day?
Posted: Wed February 20, 2008 02:28 PM UTC
My Husband and I are going on a cruise in mid June and one of the stops is Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy. We would love to see Pisa, but there is an excursion that really has caught our eye. It is a 4 hour excursion starting at 1:15 p.m. You travel through the Tuscan countryside and visit a small vineyard that produces wine. They give you a tour, show you how it is made, and then have a wonderful wine tasting. I have always wanted to do something like this. We have from 7:00 a.m. until 7 p.m. to do whatever we want while in Livorno. Anyways, does anyone think that it is possible to visit Pisa in the morning and then be back in Livorno or near it to catch the Wine excursion at 1:15 p.m.??? How long/far would it be from Livorno to Pisa and then back again roundtrip?

Livorno Another port question
Posted: Mon January 7, 2008 07:59 PM UTC
Hello everyone,

Sorry if this is a redundant question, but I couldn't find any information elsewhere.

I'll be arriving by cruise ship to Livorno in April and the cruise agent said that we will be docking at Piazzale Rosciano #6 in Livorno. I'm not sure if this is the right spelling. I've looked on Google maps but don't see anything.

Can someone tell me where this is and how do I get from the train station to this dock area?

Thank you in advance.

Livorno Livorno to Florence
Posted: Fri September 14, 2007 02:30 AM UTC
I will be in Italy soon and one of my stops is the port in Livorno. I want to make it to Florence and visit the Chianti region (I will take a tour from Florence with a guide). I need to know which is better, bus or train. Also, if it takes a train about an hour to get there, how long will it be in the bus? What is the difference in price between the two? How late do the buses run? How do I know which one to take? My tour will be over around 7:30 at night and I need to get back to the port in Livorno. THANKS for all the help.

Livorno Livorno to Florence
Posted: Fri August 24, 2007 04:03 PM UTC
Royal Caribbian were unable to tell me the name of the dock that their ships tie up at however I searched the Port of Livorno web site and read that the cruise ship dock is "Porto Di Livorno 2000" Do you know if this is correct and if so is it an easy walk to the train station or do I need to get a bus?
I have also heard that the trains are not reliable and we could easily miss our ships sailing time. Do you have a comment about this?

Livorno Cruise
Posted: Sat August 18, 2007 01:07 AM UTC
I am taking a Mediterranean cruise with a stop in Liborno. How would I go from the Liborno port to Lucca? I thought there is a train station in Liborno but when I accessed the Italian Rail.com, trying to find the train schedule from Liborno to Lucca, a message came stating that "Liborno" is unrecognized.

I need your help as I would like to visit Lucca.

Thanks..

Livorno Cruise Excursions a Rip Off?
Posted: Wed May 16, 2007 03:16 PM UTC
Hi. Been reading all the posts on transport from Livorno and out to the outlying areas. Question: I read that cruise packages are a rip off and compared to doing, say Florence, on your own, this is true. BUT-- do you think the Tuscan hill towns are just as manageable on your own with the different train switches on the way to Siena as well as the bus rides to San Gimignano? I will be on a cruise visit in two weeks and am realizing how rushed a self made trip to the hilltowns might be. So I am either considering renting a car (also a complication for parking reasons) or just doing the "rip off" cruise excursions. For Siena and San G., what do you think?

Livorno Arriving at Pisa at 8.30 a.m
Posted: Sat May 12, 2007 10:32 PM UTC
We are visiting livorno next month and would like to visit Pisa and Lucca. We are a bit undecided which town to visit first. We want back to the ship for 2 pm as we have somehting organised for the p.m. If we do Pisa first we would leave Livorno at 8.00 arriving at Pisa around 8.30. According to the Field of Miracles web site it states that the Cathedral is not open until 10 a.m. and I would like to see inside the Cathedral. Can anybody advise me if the site is correct as the Baptistry is open at 8.30.
