Hey so I am heading to Kaohsiung as a student to Study at the National Sun Yat-Sen University. I am a student of languages and Chinese is one of the languages that I am studying.
My mom is worried, she thinks that I will be raped or murdered or sold to human trafficking while there.
I have been reading all I can and I just would like to know if anyone knows how likely these scenarios are so that I can calm her.

Hi anyone stayed at this hotel before? Understand it's quite new.Anyone know if it has any email address? Can't locate them on the website.
Is it advisable to take cab from airport to the hotel? I've got party of 7 adults(include 2 elderly) & 2 young children. Heard that there are taxi touts at the airport and some taxis don't go by meter. is that true? Do they have airport bus that transfer to various hotel, just like that in Taipei?

Hi, I'm planning to stay 2-3 nights in KaoShiung. Any good 3-4 star hotel to recommend? I came across Chu Yu hotel which is very near the train station and the other is Citizen. Are they good? I hv 2 young kids with me(age 3 n 5). Thinking of spending a day at the Blue Lagoon water theme park.Is it worth going?Any good place in Kaoshiung worth visiting. Tks Kelly

My cruise will dock at kaohsiung and I have about 5 hours to explore the city, anyone can help me with not to miss places and how to get there?

I'm planning to go to Taiwan to teach English and I want to be somewhere coastal or close enough to coastal. Is Kaohsiung a good area? If not, can anyone suggest some good locations. We don't want to be in Taipai. Thanks.

Any recommendations for quality hotels in Kaohsiung? I've stayed in some real dogs of a hotels that seemed stuck in the 1970's.

Hi, does anyone know of a launderette near Dah Yeong Road in Kaosiung? I'm staying at the Wen Pin hotel, it's near the intersection of Gung Yuan (or Kung Yuan) and Chi Shian (or Cisian or ChiHsien) 3rd roads, Kushan ferry end. I'll be moving to be nearer to the ferry in a day or two, so any in that area may also be of use. Really appreciated. Thanx. M

I know some beach activities are proposed, but I never heard about any beach before.

i'm moving to Kaohsiung at the start of May to teach english. i have a few questions!

1. if anyone else has taught english in Kaohsiung how was it? What kind of hours were you working? What were the other staff like? Which companies do you recommend, and who should i steer clear of?

2. I'm an artist, so any information on local art galleries, artists, classes would be wonderful.

3. Is vegetarian food easy to find?

4. I dont speak any chinese or taiwanese! i do plan to learn though. Are there any recommendable chinese classes/adult schools for beginners?

5. Are there many local haunts where english speaking people can hang out at?
