Hoi An Any information on Palm Gardens Resort
Posted: Sun January 14, 2007 02:03 AM UTC
We are going to Hoi An in the middle of the year and we are planning on staying at the beach in Hoi An.

We have been tossing up the pro and cons of a few of the resorts down at the beach, but I have not been able to find one report on the Palm Gardens Resort at Hoi An beach on VT.

Has anyone stayed there recently, and if so, what were the impressions of the Palm Gardens Resort. It is listed as a five star property, however, I have found star ratings in SE Asia to be highly ambiguous.

Hoi An Post
Posted: Thu January 4, 2007 04:21 PM UTC
Just wondering if anyone may have some advice (or comforting thoughts :)) I sent a large parcel home to Canada on Nov. 18 via airmail from the Hoi An Post Office. They told me it would take 3 weeks to arrive home. My friend sent a package home the same day and it arrived just on time. So far its about 7 weeks late and I missed giving out Christmas presents :( I've had no luck in receiving an e-mail response from VNPT about where it may be. Is there someone in Canada I can talk to? I'm starting to feel a bit sick about it as its a lot of wasted money on a student budget...Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it!

Hoi An Courier service from Hoi An to Hanoi
Posted: Wed January 3, 2007 01:42 AM UTC
Is there a service that provides delivery of items taken from Hoi An to Hanoi? If so, can someone please let me know who offers this?

I'll be heading to Hoi An in two weeks and are planning to get a lot of clothes made, but don't want them shipped home. I'll be taking a dosmetic flight from Hoi An to Hanoi, but knows that the luggage allowance is very limited. I would need to have someone take some of my luggage and delivering them to me in Hanoi, before I leave for the US from there.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Hoi An Better to pay the extra luggage penalty than mailing home?
Posted: Tue November 14, 2006 07:27 PM UTC
I was wondering if anyone had used Vietnam Airlines recently and had to pay for the additional luggage penalty? If so, what was the fee? I can't get access to their website at this moment. I'll be flying to Hanoi on Vietnam Airlines before heading home to LA.

What is the rate for air-shipping items from Hoi An to Los Angeles?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hoi An More tailors questions
Posted: Tue November 14, 2006 07:21 PM UTC
Hello,
I'll be in Hoi An in January and wanted to get a few knit dresses tailored. I've read several recommendations but was wondering if anyone had a good recent experience with a shop that make good quality knit/jersey dresses or shirts.

Also, is there a shop within the cloth market that tailor knit dresses well? or should I go to shops outside the market? I would like to see a variety of knit fabrics instead of just suit-type fabric.

Thanks in advance

Hoi An Yaly Couture- Wedding Dress
Posted: Thu September 28, 2006 10:26 PM UTC
I had some stuff made at Yaly Couture last year and am now wondering about getting a wedding dress made there.

I had a great experience there and all my clothes were perfect.

I am wondering on what everyone's opinion is regarding their ability to make a wedding dress from a photo that I have??

I know it's an oft-asked question but... I'm travelling to Vietnam in Nov and I'm keen to spend the majority of my time in Hoi An. I've heard so many conflicting reports on the weather there at that time. Does anyone think this is a bad idea?

Hoi An Wedding dress and suit
Posted: Tue August 29, 2006 04:06 PM UTC
Hi from Madrid,
In one week we are travelling to Vietnam and are thinking of getting our wedding dress ans suit done in Hoi An. I heard that Thu Thuy Silk and Yaly to do a good job, but I donīt know if they do wedding dresses (if they have the material, like lace etc.). Has anyone done this before? How much does such a dress cost? I sent an email with a picture to Thu Thuy Silk 3 weeks ago but got no answer. And how much does it cost to send it to Europe and is it secure (a big package for example)?
Thanx in advance for any tip!

Hoi An Painter from Hoi An!!!
Posted: Fri August 18, 2006 04:21 PM UTC
A couple of years ago I was i Hoi An, Vietnam. I bought a couple of paintings from an elderly man who had his own gallery. The paintings were from different places in the city. I think it might have been at Tran Phu St. but I'm not sure.
If anyone have the proper address or name of the shop/artist please help me. The paintings were really bright colored and very beautifull - see the picture!

Hoi An Greenfield Hotel Hoi An
Posted: Tue August 15, 2006 06:40 PM UTC
Has anyone experience with the Greenfield Hotel in Hoi An. They offer Standard rooms for USD 20 and Deluxe rooms for USD 25 (have balcony)overlooking the ricefields or with swimming pool view. The hotel is located abt 500 mts from the city centre, has a swimming pool and even offers free cocktails :)) at the swimming pool bar. We will stay in mid November so I don't know whether the weather will be good enough to use the swimming pool.
ths in advance for your info.

Hoi An Hue vs. Hoi An
Posted: Tue August 1, 2006 09:33 PM UTC
Hi Everyone,

I have a few questions.

1. Firstly there are 8 of us traveling and we are looking to spend new years eve either in Hue or Hoi An. What would you recommend and why?

2. Where do you think we should stay? We are on mixed budgets so we were thinking of staying in a 2-3 star hotel or in a guest house. What would be a good 2-3 star hotel? And does anyone know of a guest house who can accommodate all 8 of us?

3. Initally we were going to spend 2 nights in Hue and 3 nights in Hoi An but we've been told there is not much to see in Hue and you can do it it in a day trip from Hoi An. Is this true? What are your thoughts? Is Hue that small and can we seriously do a day a trip from Hoi An?

4. Because there are so many of us traveling, we were thinking of hiring our own driver on some of the days. Do you know where I can hire a driver (with an 8 seater van) for the day and how much this would cost?

Look forward to hearing everyones thoughts - and thank you for taking the time out to read my post and respond.

Many Thanks :)

Hoi An Family accommodation

Hi, My family will be travelling to Hoi An in Sep (4 of us, 2 adults and 2 sixteen year old girls). I would appreciate any advice on where to find a clean and comfortable room (or rooms if they connect) that would be suitable for us (We don't need 5 star). Any tips on how to book from Australia would also be helpful. Many thanks John

Posted: Fri July 21, 2006 04:46 AM UTC
Am planning to visit these 3 places in 5 days.

Fly into Danang may stay 2 nites @ Sandy Bay. Any comments on hotel or other recommendation ?

Take Day trip to Hoi An. Resort has shuttle into Danang town - but how do we get the bus to HA? Are there express-bus (abt U$3)?
Do we need to buy ticket early or it is ok to get on day itself ?
Any site for bus schedule? Can we get round trip ticket?
Suggest day program in HA ? Or shd we just hire a driver for the day to HA?

After leaving Danang plan to take Express Train to Hue ? Again do we need to get train ticket earlier or on day itself?

Any hotel (3*) to recommend in HA & Hue ? Those with site to pre-book wld B good.

HA has many tailors - what abt read-made wear - any honest shops.

And sight & food.

Thanks

Hoi An General question re: tailors in Hoi An
Posted: Tue April 25, 2006 11:38 PM UTC
Hi guys! I was wondering if you could tell me:

1) if tailors can make cardigans, i.e. do they have the fabric for it - fine knit wools, etc. Or is the only kind of wool they have the harder stuff for suits and/or coats?

2) Also, when you get shoes made, do they give you a selection of leathers to choose from? I want to have some boots made but want them to be in a matt leather, not shiny.

3) And if they have non-shiny silk?

Thanks heaps!!!
