Hoi An City or Beach
Posted: Tue July 15, 2008 11:01 AM UTC
I am going to Vietnam in August for a relaxing week then a tourist week. I was wondering where a good place to stay in Hoi An would be for a relax.

Is the beach nice?
Or do the hotels in the city have nice pool areas?

We will be going to Hue and Hanoi after that, but thought Hoi An would be interesting but still near a beach so you could relax.

Hoi An Around Hoi An
Posted: Tue March 4, 2008 10:00 AM UTC
Hello, someone told me that there is a tour that take you along the river outside Hoi An visiting a potery village, a place for carpentry and also where they make popcorn, caramel, rice paper etc. but she wasn't sure if it was outside Hoi An or maybe Hue from where these trips can be booked. Does anyone know or has taken these tours? I'd appreciate any help. Thank you, Tira

Hoi An Can the Tailors take orders from abroad?
Posted: Sat December 1, 2007 08:15 PM UTC
We were in Hoi'an about a year and a half ago. While we were there we bought several outfits for my wife and I. At the time we were in Vietnam, we were backpacking around the world and not eating too much. We were thinner there then we are now back home in Canada. I've also started bodybuilding, so I don't fit into any of my clothes that I got while in Hoi'An.

Do some people call/email the tailors in Hoi'An for more clothes to be sent back to us? If so, do we just measure ourselves and send the dimensions?

Thanks!

Hoi An Hoi An Travel Scam
Posted: Tue August 28, 2007 10:46 PM UTC
Especially if you are a woman or women traveling alone, please DO NOT use the Hoi An Tourist Office (on the corner of Tran Phu and Le Loi, 78 Le Loi) in Hoi An to book a taxi to the airport. Their driver, Chum (license plate 8565), will pretend to get really pissed off about something and drag you (and throw your stuff) onto the side of a rural road and refuse to take you to your destination unless you pay him extra money. He is a big guy, absolutely insane and a very dangerous, and although the travel agency is well aware of this, they still make people go with him. Avoid using their services; there are plenty of other travel agencies in town!!!

Hoi An Lookinh for roommates
Posted: Tue July 3, 2007 05:24 AM UTC
I'll be in Hoi An from Jul 13 to Jul 16 ( 3 nights )
And I'm looking for roommates to make my trip cheaper so that i can spend more money on shopping in fact that if i have 1 roommate for 3 nights there i can get 3 tailored shirts . I want to stay at Phu Thinh 1 Hotel. It's inside the old town , it takes about 3 mins to the japanese bridge ( on the same street) The price are 12 usd for double room with fan and 15 usd for a double room with air-conditioner the rooms have Fridge , Hot Tub , TV . But for me the most important thing is it's inside the old town . If you don't feel like living in the old town then there are many choices outside of the old town. My Aim is just making my trip cheaper so i can get more stuff . So thank You for reading this and I hope one of you will contact me :d Thank alot !

Hoi An Tailors in Hoi An
Posted: Fri June 8, 2007 05:35 PM UTC
Has anyone living in Hoi An or been to Hoi An have used either of the following tailors? Thinh Thanh and Thong Phi. They are both located on Le Loi street. The hotel recommended them and I didn't know if they and the tailors have any kind of agreement. I just wanted to see if any one had any dealing with the tailors before. Thanks.

Hoi An Hoi An - Choosing between Life Resort, Palm Beach resort & Riverside Resort
Posted: Fri February 9, 2007 04:37 AM UTC
At the end of April our needs will be to relax after hectic days in Saigon & Hanoi. Room needs to have a private balcony or outside area to sit and soak in the atmosphere! We also like to walk and will of course want to explore Hoi An during our 2 night stay. We are not beach nuts but a view is always appreciated, either river or sea. Privacy probably main concern. We have been looking at deluxe seaview at Palm, deluxe or superior at Riverside and Junior Suite garden view at Life.

Any advice?

All comments and advice most welcome!

David & Sue

Hoi An Hoi An - Phu Thinh 1 or Thanh Van
Posted: Mon February 5, 2007 11:11 PM UTC
I've narrowed down my choices of hotels in Hoi An to Phu Thinh 1 (144 Tran Phu St) and Thanh Van (78 Tran Hung Dao St - 15USD/R/N).

Please, any comments about these places?

Phu Thinh 1 offers 14USD/R/N on the ground floor and 17USD/R/N upstairs. Which should I choose?

I prefer to stay in the Old Quarter, hoping to be in walking distance to everywhere.

Any other suggestions welcome.

Hoi An Hoi An Riverside Resort or Hoi An Beach Resort?

Planning on two nights end of April to break it up a bit between Hanoi and Saigon and to relax back a bit! We are attracted by both of these properies and wonder if anyone has opinions on them or preferences. Looking at River view Deluxe rooms in each case, or perhaps Villa at Beach Resort.

Cheers and thanks in advance, David & Sue

Hoi An Tet?
Posted: Tue January 30, 2007 11:15 AM UTC
What are the exact dates for the Tet festival? I'm going to be in Hoi An from 19th to 22nd Feb and am beginning to worry that nothing is going to be open. Does everything really shut or is it touristy enough to stay open? Also, does anyone have any recommendations on things to do in Hoi An or nearby (apart from My Son?)
Thanks in advance!

Hoi An Any information on Palm Gardens Resort
Posted: Sun January 14, 2007 02:03 AM UTC
We are going to Hoi An in the middle of the year and we are planning on staying at the beach in Hoi An.

We have been tossing up the pro and cons of a few of the resorts down at the beach, but I have not been able to find one report on the Palm Gardens Resort at Hoi An beach on VT.

Has anyone stayed there recently, and if so, what were the impressions of the Palm Gardens Resort. It is listed as a five star property, however, I have found star ratings in SE Asia to be highly ambiguous.

Hoi An Post
Posted: Thu January 4, 2007 04:21 PM UTC
Just wondering if anyone may have some advice (or comforting thoughts :)) I sent a large parcel home to Canada on Nov. 18 via airmail from the Hoi An Post Office. They told me it would take 3 weeks to arrive home. My friend sent a package home the same day and it arrived just on time. So far its about 7 weeks late and I missed giving out Christmas presents :( I've had no luck in receiving an e-mail response from VNPT about where it may be. Is there someone in Canada I can talk to? I'm starting to feel a bit sick about it as its a lot of wasted money on a student budget...Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it!

Hoi An Courier service from Hoi An to Hanoi
Posted: Wed January 3, 2007 01:42 AM UTC
Is there a service that provides delivery of items taken from Hoi An to Hanoi? If so, can someone please let me know who offers this?

I'll be heading to Hoi An in two weeks and are planning to get a lot of clothes made, but don't want them shipped home. I'll be taking a dosmetic flight from Hoi An to Hanoi, but knows that the luggage allowance is very limited. I would need to have someone take some of my luggage and delivering them to me in Hanoi, before I leave for the US from there.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
