Hue Hue after the flood
Posted: Thu October 1, 2009 05:27 PM UTC
Hi everyone!

Just wanted to get an update on the situation in Hue after the typhoon Ketsana hit it a few days ago. I've read a couple of news but it didnt really give much info so I'm hoping i can get news from those living around the area.

We have a scheduled trip on Oct 29 and I've emailed the hotel (Holiday Hotel) asking how they are but no response, I do hope they are fine. SO any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jekie

Hue Hue accomodation

I amlooking for reasonable clean accomodation in HUE, currently looking at Orchid hotel, primarily based on reviews around the net, anyone stayed there recently that can confirm the posts from earlier this year and last year. Or any recommendations of better 3 star places.

Cheers

Hue transportation around Hue
Posted: Fri August 21, 2009 11:01 AM UTC
Hi all,

I just realise the bridge across the river to the citadel is huge! Not something you can easily walk across from the city centre. Are there busses to the citadel and how much would they cost ? Where can I take them ?

Also , what's the current reasonable rate of hiring taxis cyclos, etc ?

I'll be staying at the Tha Binh 2 hotel, anyone travelled there by bus before ? and where can I take the bus from the city centre back to the airport ?

thanks much , this will make easier in case it rains, or I get too tired of
walking.

cheers!

Hue HELP IN HUE
Posted: Wed July 1, 2009 08:21 AM UTC
Hello!!

Planning a trip to Hue and was wondering if anyone can help me plan the places to visit in Hue. We are a group of 6 adults and would want to go around by ourselves so that we don't need to be rushed instead of going on a packaged tour. We will be in Hue for 2 nights then we move to Hoi Ann for another 2 nights before heading back to HCM.

Are there any not to be missed places? We are interested in historical and adventure type of activities. Do you think it is better to hire a car/van to take us around on specific places of interest? Also, are there any places between Hue and Hoi An that we can pass along when we move to Hoi An?

Your inputs will be highly appreciated!

Best,
Jekie

Hue Is a bike OK?
Posted: Sun June 14, 2009 02:40 PM UTC
If I rent a bike, is it OK to ride it in and around the Citadel and Forbidden City? If there are areas that are off-limits to bikes, can they be parked and locked safely somewhere? Also, I read from a guide book that one could bring a bike aboard the boats that ply the Perfume River so you could ride off to some of the temples along the banks. Is this true and feasible?

Thanks for any replies.

Hue lost honeymoon photo cd!!!
Posted: Sun October 28, 2007 09:29 PM UTC
Hi there, I know this is a really long shot but my husband and I (Jim & Rachel Brindley) left our honeymoon cd in the CD drive room 12 at the 'Thai Bihn Hotel'10/9 Nguyen tri phuong, Hue (opposite cafe on thu wheels). We have tried calling them and emailing but think language a bit of a barrier. The Photo's are of Sikkim (north india)-written on CD. This was a while ago now but still desperately hoping! Please let us know if you are staying there or planning to. If someone can help us perhaps email pictures we will try to repay you somehow.
Thankyou!!

Hue Does anybody stayed in Green hotel Hue?
Posted: Sun October 21, 2007 06:51 PM UTC
Hi everybody! My husband and I want to spend two nights in Hue at the end of november. Does anybody stayed in Green hotel? We have a good offer to stay, but we don't know if this is a good hotel (location, services...). Our other option is Saigon Morin hotel; it cost a little bit more, but we have good references. What do you think? We would appreciate any advice. Thank you

Hue dinner on the river?
Posted: Thu February 8, 2007 06:44 PM UTC
I am headed to Hue with a group of graduate students in March. Its my first time in Vietnam and I am looking for a place to throw a party (heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks) and I read that one can have dinner on a boat. Does anyone know if there is a restaurant on the river or on a boat that might fit this bill? Any suggestions on where to throw a party in Hue? Thanks!

Hue Traveling from HoiAn to Hue Festival 2006
Posted: Mon May 29, 2006 09:32 AM UTC
I read somewhere that the Hue festival happen from 3-11 Jun. I will be in HoiAn till 8 Jun before onwards to Hanoi. That being the case, it makes sense to stop by Hue to experience the festival. I have reserve 8-11 Jun. Is this too much?

How do I go from HoiAn to Hue???? Is it better to arrange via travel agent for the transport + accommodation in this case?

Which are the hotels will be good during the festival and what must be visited?

many thanks for any valuable advise as I am quite lost what to do in Hue and what to expect during the festivavl.....

Hue Hai Van Pass, by train or by bus?
Posted: Mon March 27, 2006 05:12 AM UTC
Hi there,

we will be travelling from Hue to Danang/Hoi An in early April. Hai Van pass is repetitively shown on all covers.

So what you reckon, it's more spectacular overseeing the view from the train or from the bus? How's the road condition?

The train costs around US$4 from Hue to Danang, where we will then be picked up for free by our hotel to Hoi An.

The bus, cheaper likely. But how's the road condition? and the bus situation? crowded?

Train seems to be more convenient. any suggestions dude?

many thanks in advancE!
