Hello,
I am traveling ot Montalcino and am wondering if the wineries and wine shops are open on Sundays. I have received mixed information but from what I have gathered in Rome and Florence, most places are closed on Sunday. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

Will be in Montalcino -- arriving June 11th and departing June 12th.
Would like recommendations for a winery tour please. If possible we would like to stay at hotel connected to winery.
Any ideas, suggestions will be appreciated.

2 females, 42 & 73 (both car-less), taking a bus from Pienza to Montalcino in hopes of visiting Sant'Antimo in the morning. Can someone suggest a way to get to the Abbey without taking a car? I know of 2 buses to the abbey, but they leave at 710am and then not until 145pm. Our bus from Pienza drops us off around 730am, so we'll miss the first bus and I'm planning to photograph the interior of the Abbey in the morning, with the light streaming in so the 145pm bus won't do. Are there taxis to hire? Or is it possible to hitch a ride? I don't think my mother can handle a walk, if it's very far or very hilly. Suggestions?

With a short trip spanning a weekend, what do you recommend? It's next week, 10/9-14, and we'll have a car. Festivals? Wineries?

Several years ago we saw fireflies in Sorrento (in June). Does anyone know if there are fireflies in Tuscany in May? We don't have them in California and they are so magical.

Hi,
We are taking a train from Rome Termini to Chiusi. From there we would like to go to Montalcino then possibly to Siena. If we go to Siena we would take a train directly back to Rome.
I am having difficulty figuring out how to get from Chiusi to Montalcino by either train/bus?

Has anyone ever stayed at Hotel Giglio in Montalcino?
what is the hotel like?
where are good places to eat nearby?
where is a good winery to try Brunello?
do any of the wineries give free tastings?
where is the best place to buy Brunello?
Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out the easiest and quickest way to get from Rome to Montalcino without a car. The train seems inconvenient since it requires switching in three different towns (Chiusi, Siena, Buonconvento). I am wondering if there is a direct bus option from Rome, how often it leaves, and how long it takes, or alternately, whether there are buses that go from the train station at Chiusi directly to Montalcino. Would appreciate your advice!

Do you know tour companies that offer day trips into the wine region, especially Montalcino and Montepulciano from Florence? Is departing from SIena a better idea? I know we can use the SITA bus network and do it on our own, but just wondering?? Thanks for any help you can offer.
