Naples Cruise ship dock to Molo Beverello?
Posted: Wed March 19, 2008 10:21 PM UTC
We will be arriving aboard the Carnival Freedom cruise ship. If anyone can answer this it would be great.
1. Is the ship docked in an area near Molo Beverello so that we can access the hydrofoil to Capri easy? Ive read Molo Beverello is where you catch the ferry's and hydrofoils.

Naples First time in Naples!
Posted: Sat March 8, 2008 04:46 PM UTC
We will be arriving aboard RCCL cruise ship. If anyone can help with these questions it would be great.
1. Is the ship docked in an area so that access to the city is easy? If not, how do we get to the city?
2. If I want to go to Pompeii, should I take the ship's tour or is there a better way to do it. I hate getting stuck on a tour that takes all day. I understand there is a train that goes to Pompeii. Is it near the cruise terminal? How much to get to the train station?
3. What other attractions are there in Naples? Any must see places, must eat pizza places, must see cafes?

Naples Car on hydrofoil
Posted: Thu March 6, 2008 05:10 PM UTC
Does the 15 Euro include taking the vehicle with me. I really don't need it on the island (vespa), but I've rented it for 10 days and not sure what to do with it for 3 days while on Ischia.

Naples Train Prices from Naples to Salerno
Posted: Wed February 27, 2008 01:22 AM UTC
We would like to travel from Naples to Paestum in May. We cant find ticket prices on trenitalia for the local trains that run from Naples to Salerno/Paestum. Does anyone know roughly how much a ticket costs one way for the local trains (coded R Regionale on the train type). I assume they are all second class type tickets.

Hi. I am wanting to travel from Rome to Naples on the 18th June 2008. I have checked the Bahn German rail timetable and those for other train companies and for some reason I can only find trains that run up to the 14th June???? Can someone please reassure me that there would be a train going from Rome to Naples on these dates? Surely there is one? Why can't I get any timetable information? Any help would be appreciated. i just dont know what im doing wrong. Thank you

Naples Taxi Ride from airport to hotel
Posted: Wed February 13, 2008 01:58 PM UTC
How do we choose a reputable cab company at the airport in Naples Italy? We are going to be carrying each one bag and don't want to take the shuttle to the center of town. We are staying at the Hotel Nuovo Rebeccino for one night before getting a car service to the Amalfi Coast.
Thanks in advance.

We have reservation there in June and I gather on line that about 50% of the people love it and the other 50% dislike it. Anyone been there lately. Is the staff friendly and location real good for visiting Naples-Thanks-Gene

Has anyone recently visited this museum? If so, you do know which days it is open. Some guide books say Tuesday is the day it is closed, others that it is closed on Wednesdays. For some reason, the website is unobtainable - I've been trying for two days now!

Naples Six Hours in Naples
Posted: Sun February 3, 2008 07:53 PM UTC
We arrive in Naples by ferry at 7:00am in late May and plan to continue on to Rome by train. If we go to the train station and check our luggage would it be worthwhile to spend several hours in Naples? If we were to check the luggage by 8:30am and needed to be back at the train station by 3:00pm to get the train to Rome, it would give us approximately 6.5 hours to do some exploring. Would it be worth the effort and how would you suggest we spend the 6 hours?

Naples naples italy--Having second thoughts
Posted: Mon January 28, 2008 10:48 PM UTC
OK-People on this site have convinced us that crime is really not a big probnlem in Naples or no worse than other cities and one just has to be careful.
Now comes the next latest news which I thought was over with and that is garbage that stinks. Is this just in a few areas or does it permeate the city.
Would be great if somene who lives there could respond rather than a guess or opinion from an outsider.Thanks-Gene

Naples Hotel names near Naples
Posted: Mon January 28, 2008 06:40 PM UTC
I used to live in Capodichino (military) and plan to return in March. I plan to take a cab from Rome and stay in a small town ouside of Naples for a few days. I forget the names other than peinetamare. Help on the small town names near pozullio. Later I plan to go to Ischia and I forget the name of the hotel which had 2 pools side by side (thermak and jump a wall to the clorine pool). I've spent hours online looking for it. It also had a pool side bar outside. What is the temp expected in March?

Naples See Naples an die?
Posted: Tue January 22, 2008 11:22 AM UTC
I'm flying in to Naples from London in March, arriving at 7-8pm. and plan to drive along the southern coastal route. Do to the time of our arrival (it'll be dark) we had thought of staying for the first couple of days in Naples but having read about the city I'm having second thoughts because of the crime level.Every piece I've read refers to this with dire warnings about car snatching and mugging with little or no police interest, and apart from experiencing the atmosphere of the city there seems to me to be little reason to visit it.
We do tend to just meander about, not with a group, and I think sensibly without swinging bags or cameras and trying no to attracting too much attention to ourselves. We aren't timid having visited other notorious cities (for example Cairo,Mumbai,Delhi,Istanbul,Marrakesh but of all our city visits the only one we have been robbed in is Rome, and Naples seems many times worse.
Have I got this wrong, can anyone who knows the city persuade me that it's worth some time?

Naples Ferry to Capri - Postiano? Luggage storage at the train station
Posted: Wed January 16, 2008 11:40 PM UTC
Where do you catch a ferry to Capri? I'm looking to go to Capri on 2/15 and am curious about the times and pricing and return trip and exactly where you go for the ferries if I'm walking down Corso Umberto? Also are there ferries to Postiano and if so how long/cost/times? Lastly is there a luggage storage facility at the train station and how much does it cost for all day? Thanks in advance!

Naples a month in naples.... plus, subterranean spaces?
Posted: Tue January 15, 2008 02:37 AM UTC
hey all,

ill be spending one month in naples next fall and im wondering about some logistical/cost-of-living stuff. first of all, is flatshare the cheapest way to go? if so, can anyone recommend a good flatshare-finding website or suggest another way to find a room to rent? how much is a legitimate price for a modest place? what is a good cheap neighborhood? secondly, transportation: would it be advisable to buy a one month metro pass? how much might one spend on food over a month?(buying groceries, plus going out occasionally?) is it an expensive city for going out? I apologize for this barrage of questions. finally, a stranger question: does anyone know anything about explorable subterranean spaces in the area? i'll be in the city to write about a few of these underground spots, but i'm wondering if there are other underground spaces (tunnels, crypts, vaults, bunkers, grottoes) that natives know about.

look forward to any replies. thanks!

Naples Capri/Naples Railway station to Port of Civitavecchia
Posted: Thu January 3, 2008 03:05 AM UTC
I want to travel on the 14th June 2008 with my wife, 30 year old son and his wife from Capri to a cruise ship at the Port of Civitavecchia arriving by about 3 pm that day. I am able to arrange to get to Naples Railway station by Hydrofoil and taxi. What is the most efficient/best station to travel to with a minimum of train changes and best method to get to the port, presumably by taxi from the station.

Naples Hotel near train station
Posted: Tue December 25, 2007 07:43 PM UTC
Hi everyone. Me and my husband are going to Naples June 30-July 3, 2008. We would really like something near the main train station that is not too expensive, since we will be in Italy for 3 weeks! We've been looking at hotel websites/reviews/etc., and there are quite a few that look good. However I am torn because they pretty much all have an equal amount of good and bad reviews. If anybody could recommend anything, we would appreciate it very much! Thank you!

Naples getting to amalfi from naples
Posted: Wed November 28, 2007 04:22 PM UTC
We are flying into Naples June 8 2008 and would like to possibly arrive in amalfi by ferry-
1) we were advised to take the bus from the airport to the train station
2) possibly take a taxi for approx 15-20 euros from the train to the harbor
Does anyone know if this is the best way to arrive at hotel la bussola on amalfi which is near the harbor?
What is the ferry schedule liek that time of year? if we miss one ferry, how long do you have to wait for the next one? which company is best and do you get good views?

Naples How safe is Pozuolli to teach english??
Posted: Tue November 27, 2007 11:05 AM UTC
Hi, I really need some advice about how safe I'd be in Italy. I got offered 2 tefl jobs, one in Pozuolli, just outside Naples and one in Vecinza but I'm not sure which to take. The south appeals more but I've read so many reports that Naples is unsafe, is this true?? I'm also afraid that there might not be much to do in Vecinza. Does anyone have any experience of these cities and also any idea of how much rent would cost??

Thanks so much!!

Naples Naples and safety
Posted: Sat November 24, 2007 06:05 PM UTC
We have been to Italy many many times and many times to the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento and many other ciites in Italy. We want to spend four days in Naples as we have always wanted to see it.
We get so many warnings from other Americans that it is not safe to walk in Naples at night to walk to dinner which is a common practice in most Italian cities. We were also told that the port area can be dangerous. Are people exaggerating or is Naples truly not a place to walk to dinner and walk around after dinner. We are staying in a five star hotel near the port and don,t know how far restaurants etc are from the port area or how far to shops in the city etc. Any advice from locals or someone who has spent time there would be appreciated. If safety is an issue then we will simply arrange four days in another area-Thank you--Gene
