Ciao,

Grazie. Gabriel

Palermo Overnight train from Palermo to Rome
Posted: Sun May 6, 2007 09:40 AM UTC
Hi,

I am trying to buy a 2-bed compartment on overnight train from Palermo to Rome in the beginning of June, but for some reason Trenitalia website is not allowing me to do that.. Is it OK to just buy the tickets when we are in Italy, or is it better to try to buy in advance from US?

Thank you

Palermo Fell off the truck shopping!
Posted: Sun April 22, 2007 06:15 AM UTC
Hi All, I met a Sicilian woman a few years back who told me about a market in Palermo where I could buy designer clothing seconds or that "had fallen off the truck" for amazingly cheap prices. It sounded like USA second hand pricing. Does anyone have a location and name for this market? I hope to be there in May/June.
Also, has anyone got info on a cheap place to stay or at least the coolest area for the money for a couple on honeymoon? We want to hang out there for about a week.
Ciao! Michelle

Palermo one day beach question
Posted: Wed March 7, 2007 02:26 AM UTC
We will be on the Disney Cruise in July and will spend one day in Palermo. We would like to spend most of the day relaxing at a beach. Can anyone give me instructions on how to get to the closest - nicest beach via bus or taxi and what the cost should be? Also is there a link for a bus schedule available?
We would hope the beach has bathroom facilities and a recommendation for a place for lunch would help. And any tips on things we can do in the area of the port - anything in walking distance? would be helpful too!
Thanks,
Sherri

Palermo Taxis to and from airport
Posted: Mon February 19, 2007 01:54 AM UTC
We're planning on staying in a hotel 7-8 kilometers from the airport the night before a 6:15 a.m. flight, but we have to return our rental car the night before, which means two trips to/from the airport. Does anyone know how much a taxi costs/ The hotels are quoting us 40 euros each way for a hotel van which seems awfully expensive for a 7-8 km., 15-20 minute ride.

Planning a quick 2 day visit to the city, here's some questions, suggestions welcome...

Best way from the Airport to Centro, the Bus or Train?
Thinking of booking the Opera at Teatro Massimo- thoughts?
Vucciria market, is it open everyday?

What are your Must see sights? How about best places to eat (love seafood), and any typical Palermo dishes?

Thanks for any input!

Palermo Getting to Ustica from Palermo
Posted: Tue August 22, 2006 12:28 AM UTC
Am traveling from Palermo airport to Ustica in early September. Can anyone tell me where the hydrofoil for Ustica is located and how to buy tickets?? Also, I believe there is a 5:15 p.m. ferry, is that correct? If I take the bus from the airport to Palermo, how do I get to where the hydrofoil leaves?? If I take a taxi, what is the approximate fare?? Thanks very much.

Palermo local car rental company
Posted: Fri July 21, 2006 08:47 AM UTC
I need a car for 10 days in Sicilia, a small and cheap one. Can anybody help me to find a local car rental company in Sicilia (Palermo)? I would like to contact them before my trip.

Yes, I know that big international companies have got online reservation system. But this companies have got higher prices, and I think (and I hope) that a local car rental company could offer me cheaper prices (specially in Sept). I would like to ask some of them, and than I could select the best offer.

We are going to arrive in Palermo airport in the morning, and we have to drive to Catania, to find our reserved apartment. So we don't have time on our first day to find a car with good price (as we usually do). If anybody has got a leaflet of a car rental company in Palermo, please let me know their contact (email/fax).

Thanx,
Robert
