Perugia Trains from Rome Termini to Perugia or Assisi
Posted: Sat September 5, 2009 11:18 PM UTC
Hello,

I have read a few articles that you need to change trains at Foligno on the way to either Assisi or Perugia. However, having checked the schedules on treinitalia.com, it seems there are direct trains from Rome to these 2 cities without transferring. Is that true?

For instance:
http://orario.trenitalia.com/b2c/nppPriceTravelSolutions.do?car=A&stazin=rome+termini&stazout=perugia&datag=09&datam=09&dataa=2009&timsh=09&datag_r=12&datam_r=09&dataa_r=2009&timsh_r=10&stazin_r=perugia&stazout_r=rome+termini&timsm=15&timsm_r=15&lang=en&nreq=5&channel=tcom&npag=1&lang_r=en&nreq_r=5&channel_r=tcom&npag_r=1&x=32&y=11

If I were to take the train departing Rome termini at 11.57am, I don't need to transfer elsewhere?

Can someone let me know what fare 39/AS means? I don't really understand. Is this the fare to go with if I were to buy a ticket online?

Cheers

Perugia Perugia in October or November?
Posted: Sun July 27, 2008 05:27 PM UTC
My wife and I are planning a trip to Perugia for two weeks either in October or November. I have commitments in October that I could cancel but that would be inconvenient. But, am concerned that if I go in November it would be too cold for walking about the city comfortably and I'd miss the fall colors in the countryside. Would appreciate hearing about what the climate and atmosphere in town is like from people who've been there during October and November.

So any of you out there can write to me at benaddey@yahoo.it and I'll introduce you to Perugia!

Perugia January 2008 in Perugia - Is it sleepy? Accommodation?
Posted: Tue October 23, 2007 08:11 PM UTC
Hi All,

I might get January 2008 off work and visit Perugia. The purpose would of course be to learn Italian language but also to have some fun.

So, here are my questions:

1) how is January in Perugia - is there any life? any students? anything going on or is it a bit sleepy?

2) should i come with my car? is there a problem finding parking?

3) how much would one month rent of a studio apartment in Perugia be?

Thank you!!!

Perugia Supermarket open on a Saturday afternoon in Perugia??
Posted: Sat April 7, 2007 08:17 AM UTC
We have rented a house in S.Enea which is about 15km from Perugia. On our way there we want to call into a supermarket and stock up on provisions for the first few days. Are supermarkets open on a Saturday afternoon? Knowing Italy and its erratic opening hours I'm worried we might get stuck without food for a couple of days!! All help appreciated. Thanks.

Perugia Age groups at Universita per Stranieri

Hi - am thinking about doing the 3 month course next year. I get the impression that students are mostly early 20's. I'm 37 and have a lot of friends in their mid to late 20's but was wondering if anyone can tell me if I am likely to be the oldest person there.....hey, if Martin Sheen can do a BA at Dublin Uni at his age, I should be fine, right?

Perugia questions galore
Posted: Wed June 28, 2006 11:24 PM UTC
I will be here on July 2nd through July 7th.

What must I see and do? Where should I eat? How close to Florence am I? How much by train to get to Florence for a day or two? What are the low cost carriers if I want to fly to Sicily for a day?

Also up for meeting anyone there, since I am working and will be by myself.

Perugia Affordable hotel or pension in August
Posted: Sat June 3, 2006 06:07 PM UTC
I am choosing between two hotels--Hotel Priori and Residence Baldesca. Both have quoted me 40 euro for a single room with private bath. Both are in historic center. Any suggestions on which is the better choice in terms of location, size, character, etc.? Has anyone stayed in their single rooms before? I'm an experienced budget traveller. Other suggestions also welcome. Thanks.

Perugia Day trips from Perugia
Posted: Sat June 3, 2006 06:01 PM UTC
I'm planning to spend 5 nights experiencing slower paced hill towns in Umbria on my next trip to Italy (a contrast to my 7 nights in Rome). I'm thinking about making Perugia my home base with day trips to Gubbio, Assisi and maybe Spello too. I'm limited as follows: I will NOT have a car (train and bus transport only), I am on a tight budget, and I am traveling alone. Some questions to those with experience: Is Assisi worth a visit despite the busy tourism? If I had to choose between Assisi or Spello, should I do Spello instead? What guide books have the best/detailed information about Gubbio and Spello or other hill towns that are accessible by public transportation? Do Gubbio or Spello have any affordable, centrally located hotels/pensions? (Like 40-50 euro for a single room?) To some degree I've decided to make Perugia my homebase because of price, although Perguia sounds nice. Any other tips are very welcome!

Perugia chilling out in Perugia?
Posted: Mon December 5, 2005 03:33 AM UTC
Norah and I are going to be in Perugia the first week of January. We are already prepared for the cold. We want to know if anyone has any good suggestions for comfy places to relax, that are "chill"--you know, cozy with a nice laid back atmosphere. We are looking for cafes or restaurants or pubs that we can sit in, have a glass of good Italian red wine and maybe do some people watching and meeting. Anyone know of a place or places that fit this bill?

Perugia Visiting in January
Posted: Mon August 8, 2005 03:58 PM UTC
We are going to Perugia the first week of January 2006. We are expecting it to be cold but probably not as cold as the weather we are leaving here in the Northeast, US in January. Should we plan for rain? Snow?
Does anyone have any nice little secret places in Perugia that they would like to let us in on? We won't tell anyone, we promise. We are looking for small cafes or bars that are high on character. Or interesting little book stores or galleries. Places that a local would not be afraid to hang out in.
We like to experience places from the inside out. Not just the typical things. We should be able to find them on our own.

Thanks,

Norah and Jeff

Perugia what to do in perugia at all
Posted: Sun July 24, 2005 08:54 PM UTC
i've been living and studying in perugia for almost 1 month so far, i like this little city but sometimes i do feel quite bored since when i was at my country i loved going out with my friends, there was so much to do, like eating out, visiting different places, especially going shopping! but the shops close so early here and i always can't figure out why the shops don't open on sundays, i also thought of going to discoteca or something, but my friends said they really suck here, so i wonder if anyone could please tell me if there's anything worth seeing or visiting in perugia, or ANY GOOD SHOPS(for clothing pr accessories)!!!that would be great helpful since i still have to stay at this little place for another 6 months, thanks a lot!!!

Perugia Top Votes for Day Trip-I'm indecisive!
Posted: Tue May 24, 2005 05:30 PM UTC
Hi...I'll be in Perugia for a very quick visit--July 5-6--. I've been to perugia a couple times before, although it's been 5/6 years. This time, I am with a friend of mine who hasn't ever been to Umbria. I was trying to come up with a daytrip from Perugia. I have been to Assisi, Gubbio, and Spoleto. But I can't decide what to do this year...All are wonderful. Soooo, I am looking for someone else to put their two cents in and basically nudge me in the right direction. Any votes for where to re-visit --or somewhere new-- to take my friend? (I'm sort of leaning toward Assis....????)
Has anyone ever been to Spello or Todi? Are those interesting day trips? She's not much into Etruscan history, but does love a good walk-around, so hills and hiking are plusses....

Thanks for your decision-making for me! ;-)
