Pisa pisa supermarket tents!
Posted: Wed July 23, 2008 09:00 PM UTC
me and my travel buddy have a bit of an issue. we fly in to pisa and plan to camp there for 2 nights but we want to buy a tent on our arrival to pisa. we really want to spend as little as possible and are looking for a very cheap 2 man tent. in britain you can get a £15 /about 18 euro tent in a supermarket and we were wondering if the supermarkets in italy sell those type of tents too-and if so, is there such a supermarket in walking distance of the city centre? any help would me hugely appreciated!

Pisa Wine tastings around Pisa??
Posted: Tue July 22, 2008 05:29 AM UTC
Me and my boyfriend are going to Pisa on Sat 26/7 and will be stying for 5 nights... I´ve browsed the internet to find vineyards and winetastings, but all the ones i find costs between 120-1000 euros (!!!) PER PERSON!
Is there any places close to Pisa where we can go by ourselves and visit the "production" or does everything require pre-booking? Is there any places not quite so expensive??
Thanks for quick answers!

Pisa Pisa Tower
Posted: Tue July 1, 2008 03:35 AM UTC
We will be in port (Livorno) for one day July 7 for 12 hrs. We are interested
into going to Pisa & possibly Lucca. The last time we were in Pisa (1992) the
tower was being repaired & tourists were not allowed inside. How did you book
online? Is the entry time fixed or flexible? Was there a long wait? We are
trying to determine the amt of time to allocate to these 2 places. Is the train from Pisa to Lucca direct and what is the trip duration? Is the return to Livorno from Lucca direct?Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Pisa Day trips?
Posted: Wed June 25, 2008 07:59 PM UTC
I'm pondering Pisa in October.

I know how to get to Lucca and (I think) Volterra and intend to visit both, but would welcome other suggestions for day trips from Pisa. Is San Gimignano feasible?

I'm especially interested in history/archaeology but I won't have a car. I've been to Florence, and don't want to include it (or Siena, or Fiesole) this time round. I'm open to organised daytours, but prefer to travel independently when I can.

Thanks for your ideas.

Pisa How long to allow to visit the Tower please?
Posted: Tue June 24, 2008 10:17 AM UTC
We are planning a stop in Pisa on our train journey from Cinque Terre to Florence and are trying to decide how much time we would need to visit the tower, how much to climb and how much for any other worthwhile sites. We only have a night in Florence before taking the train to Alberobello so any time in Pisa is at the expense of time in Florence. Can anyone help please?

Pisa Leaning Tower - can you go inside it now ?
Posted: Sat June 21, 2008 12:26 PM UTC
I understand that since about 1990, you have not been able to go inside the tower. But now the shoring-up of the foundations is complete. Is it possible to go inside the tower now ? If not, is there a date it is scheduled to be reopened ?

Pisa Beach near pisa, help with getting there and advise which one.
Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 09:44 AM UTC
Hello all, my honeymoon is fast approaching (2 weeks to go) and we will be in beautiful italy. We will be staying a few days in florence, the plan is to use one day to visit pisa and a beach.

We will get up early and get the train to pisa. Only reason for going is to be total tourists and take photos of ourselves 'holding up the tower'. After that we would like to go to the beach. As most of our hols will be city based we would like to take one day to relax on a beach. I have checked out a website for viareggio which i believe you can reach by train from pisa. The only problem is that it doesn't look like a relaxing beach. Packed full of sunbeds and no where to throw a towl down.

Please can anyone advise me on which beach to go to and how to get there (by train from pisa?). Also we need to get back to florence later on. Would like to make a day of it stopping for an evening meal etc. What is the latest we would be able to make it back (by train). We will later be in Naples and will try and visit the Amalfi coast but from what i can tell this is more rugged coastline than beach.

Would appreicate any help anyone can give.
Jacqueline
P.S. Really can't wait now :)

Pisa Travel from Pisa Airport to Florence
Posted: Thu April 3, 2008 03:11 PM UTC
Hi, we are flying into Pisa late afternoon on a saturday. Our plan is to spend a few days in Florence and then head dow to Lago Trasimeno for a few days. (Looking at wedding venues in surrounding area)

We'll obviously need a car when we leave florence but wondered if it was easy enough to travel from Pisa to Florence by public transport and if it would be worth the savings on the extra few days car hire.

Your thoughts appreciated!

Pisa Pisa airport to Siena via bus/coach?
Posted: Mon March 31, 2008 11:40 PM UTC
Hi all,

Just wondering whether it's possible to get a bus/coach from Pisa airport to Siena? I'm aware of a train which runs there (you have to change at Empoli, so I'm told) but I quite like the idea of going by bus/coach.

Has anyone done this?

Any comments or help would be appreciated guys!

Pisa Wanna sell me a bike?
Posted: Wed March 5, 2008 10:08 PM UTC
Does anybody know where could I buy a used mountain bike?
I'll come to Italy in june to have a cyckling trip (3 weeks).
I think it's cheaper to buy bike than rent it, what do you think?
Has anybody done that way: bought a bike from a local dealer and sold it back for the same one after trip?

Tips are welcome!:)

Pisa CAR PARKING
Posted: Fri February 22, 2008 04:23 PM UTC
Hi

I've read all the reports about parking, thanks for hopefully keeping me away from fines.

Does anyone please know of somewhere we can park our trusty Megane for a few hours or so- I'm more than a bit wary of driving into the wrong part of town and getting a ticket several months later. We're going in May 2008

Thanks

Pisa Transportation Viareggio to Pisa Airport
Posted: Sun February 10, 2008 07:54 PM UTC
We are staying in Viareggio and have a 11:10am flight our of Pisa. Our departure will be on a Saturday in June 08. Is there direct train service from Viareggio to Pisa Airport? Is there bus service? How much time should I allow. I remember changing trains in Pisa years ago and it seems that we had to go down steps under the tracks and back up and with baggage this was not much fun so I'm trying to avoid it. Recommendations would be appreciated.

Pisa Trip to Leaning tower

Hi

We are coming to florence for 3 days and will be flying into Pisa. How far is The Leaning Tower of Pisa from the airport. Is it easy to get transport there and what would be the cost. It would be a shame to be so close to something so famous and not go to visit.

Thanks

Pisa Exploring Pisa on your own
Posted: Thu January 17, 2008 07:17 PM UTC
We are arriving in the port of Livorno in April 2008 on a Royal Caribbean cruise. We would like to explore Pisa on our own for the day, including walking up the Pisa Tower steps. Can I please get some help with the semantics of the trip, remembering we are on a tight budget?

We need to know how to get to Pisa from the ship (train/bus/car). We need to know if we should get advance tickets to climb the tower (I thought I saw you can book it online). We need to know if our English only tongue will be a large language barrier preventing us from succeeding on our own without a guide.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

Pisa help?? travel between pisa/lucca/florence
Posted: Sat January 5, 2008 02:43 PM UTC
Hi there,

can anyone help??? im arriving in Pisa Sat 23rd august 08 in the evening and wish to see the Leaning tower first thing sunday 24th(i understand booking advisable) and then to get a train to Lucca for the day and then on to Florence. From Pisa........ is Lucca enroute to Florence??!! (excuse poor Italian geography! but if its going the right way i didnt want to go back to Pisa to then only have to travel from Pisa to Florence as we are staying in Florence on the night of Sunday 24th) and if so does anyone know if we can store 2 suitcases at Lucca train station for the day whilst we look around? do we then need to get a taxi into Lucca itself from the station?

Do i need to prebook (and if so, is there a website) train tickets or just get at station on the day?

Final question.... in Florence is it worth the hike to the prada/gucci outlets as some reviews ive seen on tripadvisor say its not worth it??!!!

thanks for your help
