What to do for 3 nights in Pisa? Posted: Wed August 26, 2009 01:46 PM UTC
We're going to Pisa on Mon 21st Sept arriving at 9.30am and leaving Thurs 24th Sept at 22:15 so we have four whole days.
Obviously want to see the tower and go up, was thinking of buying tickets when we arrive on Monday for another day and we are staying in Marina di Pisa so would like to have a lazy beach day.
What others things can you suggest we do/see? We would like to hire moped bikes if possible if not we'll get bus/train around.
Also what is an average price for meals in Pisa? I am really looking forward to trying some traditional Italian food :-)

Visiting Pisa Posted: Sat August 8, 2009 12:53 PM UTC
Hi,
We are planning to visit Pisa end of September.
If we plan to be in Pisa around 2 PM, do you think we can see Pisa to a decent extent from 2 PM?
Will it become dark early in end of September?
Or do you advice me to be in Pisa early morning.
As we are planning to spend first half of the day in Florence, we can be in Pisa only at 2 PM and we need to catch our return flight next day at 12PM.
So please advice us if this is OK and what all best places in Pisa I can visit from 2 PM until next day 10AM?

Pisa in a day Posted: Mon July 20, 2009 09:48 PM UTC
Hi all, I need a suggestion.
My wife and myself are heading for a trip to Italy during Sept-2009. We are forced to keep it short, so we'd be having two days for Florence and Tuscany.
Here is our itinerary:
.....
Day 3: Venice
Day 4: Early morning train from Venice to Florence, reach Florence by 10 a.m. or so, check in at the hotel, spend the whole day in Florence
Day 5: Pisa and Tuscany. We have to reach Rome by late evening.
Day 6: Morning return flight to US
Now, regarding day 5, how do you suggest to make it the best? We will go to see the tower ofcourse, and then? Should we keep our luggage in Florence, roam about and be back by afternoon? Or we should check in somewhere else (Pisa etc), spend the whole day sightseeing and head for Rome in the evening?
We are equally interested in history and nature, so feel free to suggest something.
Thanks

Pisa San Rossore station Posted: Thu June 18, 2009 10:01 AM UTC
Hi everyone
I have been reading all the fantastic tips on travelling by bus/train to the leaning tower. I wondered however, when catching the train from Pisa Centrale to Pisa San Rossore, what the destination on the departures board will say (as probably San Rossore will not be the train's ultimate destination), so what destination should I look for on the departure board? It would be great if someone can answer this question as my knowledge of Italian is pretty useless
and I want to try and make sure I have the journey/s planned as much as poss before we arrive.

PISA - PUBLIC TRANSPORT TO/FROM BUS/TRAIN STATION Posted: Fri June 5, 2009 10:03 AM UTC
I have another question on Pisa if anyone would be kind enough to answer it.
Which method of transport from Florence to Pisa (bus or train) would leave me nearest to the Leaning Tower?
Are the bus and the train stations in the same place (like many cities) or are they in different areas of Pisa?
Is there a regular bus service from Pisa bus or train station, to the Piazza de Miracoil?
How often does the bus go and return to Pisa Airport.
Thanks again

Train fare from Pisa to Florence Posted: Wed May 20, 2009 01:44 AM UTC
I read about in the Pisa forum here that the train fare from Pisa to Firenze is about 5.6 Euro and takes about an hour, but when I checked the schedule on http://www.raileurope.ca/, the price quoted is CAD 63 which is about 40 Euros (2nd class) and it also takes around an hour. Why is there such a big difference? Which one is correct? Are there different type of trains? Or is there a different town named Pisa and Firenze?
I am confused.

Pisa - Tower entrance tickets Posted: Tue May 12, 2009 09:26 AM UTC
Hi
Does anyone know if you have to pre-book tickets for the leaning tower?
I have a Thomas Cook travel book (published 2006) which says that you must either book online, or at the booking office in person at least 15 days before you plan to visit.
Is this information still correct? Is it not possible to just turn up and buy a ticket or is it advisable to book online, as I would imagine the queues are big in summer???
Are the tickets timed?
Thank you

Where is the Restricted Traffic Zone in Pisa? Posted: Tue April 21, 2009 12:22 AM UTC
I read about people being fined for driving in the restricted traffic zones in Pisa. Is there any web site that details the restricted areas and the time? Is it restricted to traffic 24 hours a day or only during specific period?
Where is a good place to park? Is it safe to leave luggage in the car? We will be on the way from Cinque Terre to Florence and just want to stop by Pisa to see the leaning tower. What is the best way to do so?
Thanks,
Raymond
