Portofino Bus stop in Portofino
Posted: Tue December 4, 2007 08:19 PM UTC
Hello,

I'll be arriving in Portofino by cruise ship. Can someone tell me how to get to the bus stop in Portofino so I can catch a bus to San Margherita?

I can't seem to find a decent map depicting where the bus stop is.

Thanks for helping out.

What is the best way to travel from Rome to Portofino at the end of September? The trains to Santa Margherita seem to be very, very slow (4+ hours). Are their any better ways?

Portofino Is travelling in March a problem (portofino, cinque terra + como)?
Posted: Sat February 3, 2007 07:38 AM UTC
Hi!

planning to fly into Milan during 2nd week March, to visit portofino, 5 terra and como. Just wondering if the winter-spring transition will change anything? Specifically
(1) are the walking trails closed;
(2) are ferries on lake como running; and
(3) If I drive from Milan to these places, will I still run into traffic jams, like those in summer?

Grazie in advance!

Portofino Can I do Cinque Terre & Porotino from Florence in a day?
Posted: Mon January 1, 2007 04:28 AM UTC
I know this may seem CRAZY - BUT is it possible to leave Florence by rail early in the AM and visit 2 towns in the Cinque Terre and then Portofino for an hour or two AND return back to Florence that same day??? How many changes in train are involved? We do not have a car, so I am completely dependent upon rail and bus lines. We plan to visit in late March.

I really appreciate any help you have to offer!

Mille Grazie!

Portofino Day out in Portofino from Nice
Posted: Sat July 1, 2006 11:29 PM UTC
We shall be in Nice in August and would like to visit Portofino. I understand parking there is a nightmare. Would it be better to get the train or is it worth driving to another nearby town and getting a bus, train or boat from there?

Portofino Driving to Portofino and Santa Margherita L
Posted: Fri June 9, 2006 04:17 PM UTC
Hi guys,

I will be staying in Rapallo this summer. My plan is to spend my days in Rapallo (on the beach) and my evenings in Portofino/SML. I will be there with a car. I read several comments on the net that driving is very difficult in the summer on the tiny road to Portofino. Does anyone have experience in doing this?

I thought about taking the boat I read about but apparently the last boat back from Portofino to Rapallo is at 4pm! That's pretty early considering I'm planning on heading to Portofino at around 4pm!!

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Portofino Best way to spend 2 days?
Posted: Fri May 5, 2006 04:34 AM UTC
Hi! I am lucky enough to be coming out in a few weeks to Monte Carlo for business. I will have 2 days off to explore. What is feasible for me to do/see in 2 days? I will be based in Monte Carlo. I don't want to rent a car so taking the train and bus will be my primary mode of transportation. I wanted to spend 1 day visiting the French Riviera and I wanted to spend 1 day visiting Portofino. Being so close to Italy, I want to be in Italy too! I am less interested in running around all over the place just to "say I was there". I'd rather see some beautiful, charming towns. Is it possible for me to do a day trip to Portofino and can I get there without a car? Any ideas?

Portofino Any recommendations for a budget hotel or B&B along the Italian Riviera?
Posted: Mon May 3, 2004 08:34 AM UTC
My husband and I are driving to Florence, Italy, from Clermont-Ferrand, France, where we live, in June. Along the way, we'd like to spend one night along the coast in perhaps Santa Margherita, Portofino or Genoa. Does anyone have suggestions for an "inexpensive" hotel or B&B that allows one-night stays along the way?
Thanks, Jan
