My husband and I will be visiting Italy in September. We're staying in Rome but will visit Positano for 2 days. We've been married 21 years and would love to renew our vows. We're looking for someone local who can make some small arrangements for us for a reasonable compensation. We just want an area overlooking the water reserved, someone to perform the ceremony, a small floral bouquet and boutonniere, and several pictures taken by the same individual. This will be something very simple but we want it to be nice. Thank you for any assistance.

My wife and I are heading to Positano on our honeymoon next week from Rome. We are taking a train from Rome to Naples. Then we are renting a car and driving to Pompeii. After spending the day there, I am debating a few things:
1.) Can I make that journey from Pompeii to Positano in one day after spending the whole day traveling and touring?
2.) If so, is it safer and less scary approaching from the North (Sorrento) or from the South (Vietri sul Mare)?
3.) If it is not a good idea to make it, should we stay in Vietri sul Mare, which is to the South of Positano, so that we can drive up the coast in the a.m.?
What do you think?

We went to Positano 5 years ago for my birthday and fell in love with the area. We said that when we renewed our wedding vows, we would return. So, we will be renewing our vows for our 10th wedding anniversary in September.
We are looking for a restaurant to have our "reception" after the ceremony at Santa Maria Assunta Church. We will have a very small group - less than 10 people. It will be a lunch time affair as the ceremony is a morning one.
On our wish list is:
Good food with a variety as my mother doesn't eat seafood
Great atmosphere
Somewhere that feels like Positano - bougainvillea growing either on the terrace or above us, somewhere higher up, great view of Positano - that sort of thing
Somewhere that will provide a wedding atmosphere - flowers and/or tulle on the terrace/balcony, a wedding cake, music that sort of thing.
We have no problems being in a restaurant with other diners.
Has anyone had or been to a small wedding reception at La Sponda or Caffe Positano for example. What was it like? Do either of those provide what we're looking for?
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Good day, we will be staying in the Sorrento area the first week of April and are planning our stay. We are thinking about taking the bus trip up the coast and spending the day in Positano. Could you please give us an idea of what there would be to do for the day and do you have any idea what the bus schedule is. Thank you

Is there a way to access the bus schedule from the airport in Naples to Positano on May 25? Can I get a bus from the airport? How long does the ride take? How crowded are the buses? Do I need tickets in advance?

Hello friends! We are spending our honeymoon in Italy next year and are expecting to spend several days each in Rome and Florence. We'd like to choose a third place to visit, and are contemplating Positano, Venice, or another can't miss locale. If you were to choose between Positano or Venice, which would you choose and why? How many days would you stay in your choice? Or, if neither of these spots fancies you, what would be your best suggestion and why?
Thanks very much for your help!
J

Hello,
My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon during April of 2012. We are looking to start our trip in Positano around April 5th, but it looks like this may coincide with the Easter holiday. Can anyone advise if most things in the city close down for the holiday, or is this still a good time to visit? Also, do you think we would be better off finishing our trip in Positano instead of starting here? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

About to finalize honeymoon plans for 2 weeks in Italy with Positano being our final stop. We will have been in Rome, Tuscany and Cinque Terre. Late in our planning, someone told to me that Positano would be too touristy, overcrowded, etc. Thoughts??? HELP!

Hello,
Me and my sister are flying to Rome from Turkey in June for 7 days, and we are planing to stay in Positano for 4 nights and see around. Do you think it would be logical to stay in Positano and take a ferry to Capri, Napoli (if it is worth?) and visit Amalfi coast.. We are also planing to rent a car in Rome or Napoli (getting by train to Napoli and renting a car there)so we will be driving to Positano. We would very much appretiate if you could advise us whether Positano is the best location to stay for seeing around and also enjoying a beautiful beach etc.
Thank you already!!

Ciao travelers,
Has anyone stayed in this private rental...La Villa Sirene? your thoughts/comments? We will be there in a few months and can't wait! It looks awesome!
Second question: there are a number of differing posts on dining in position...some say it is outrageously expensive across the board and others disagree...specific restaurant suggestions would be appreciated along with an approx. cost per person...I don't mind spending the money if the food is wonderful....oh, also, we will have a full kitchen is there a market in positano?
Many thanks!

Thank you all who posted a reply to my question(s)! They have been an invaluable help to planning my trip. Based on the answers, I am now planning to stay in Sorrento and do day trips. It has been suggested that I find a private driver to make these trips. I am told that a hotel concierge can usually make these reservations. We are staing at the Hotel Royal. If anyone has any thoughts on this they are appreciated. Again, thanks so much.

I am traveling from Rome to Sorrento for 3 nights stay then back to Rome. I have gotten advice to spend time in Positano. Should I book a room for one of the nights in Positano or forget staying in Sorrento altogether or just travel either place for a day? I am unsure if they are so close to each other it may not be worth it to change hotels for one night and carry luggage. Also, we are planning on spending a day in Capri. Should we depart from Sorrento or Positano? Thank you for you interest in helping.

My son and his wife will be in Positano in mid September on their honeymoon. First time in Italy, and first time for any international travel. They currently are planning on taking private transfers from the Naples airport to Positano, and then private transfer from Positano to Naples Train station for a train to Rome. However, they are re-considering the transport from Positano to Rome. They are a little apprehensive about the train travel (figuring out how to purchase the tickets, getting on the right train, pickpockets)and were wondering if bus service from Positano to Rome would be an option. This would save them some money, and maybe end up being less stressful...depending on how many transfers would be involved.
Frst question: Is there bus service from Positano to Rome? Is this an option in mid September and would transfers be involved? Where would they need to change buses?
Second question: Has anyone used this private transfer service? He was the least expensive quote they received at $85 euros from airport to Positano, and same charge from Positano to Naples Train Station.

Third question: Would like suggestions as to things they should do/see while in Positano. If we read correctly, they can catch a bus or ferry to Amalfi, and then travel to the small village of Ravello. Would you recommend they ferry to Amalfi and maybe take the bus back? Any other suggestions?
Fourth question: Any reasonably priced restaurants in Positano? Also read where one of the restaurants in Nocelle will send a car to pick you up at your hotel and bring you back. Anybody done this? How expensive is this dinner?
Fifth question: Are ATM's readily available in Positano?
All information is much appreciated!

We are staying in "La Sirene", private rental, which is up 65 steps. Are there mini taxi's or other small forms of transport that travel up and down the small streets? I'm having knee problems and wondering if there are Taxi's to hire or if I have to WALK THE STEPS and what the cost is?

I am confused about the location of these two hotels. Which is the better location for exploring the town and beach? Anybody ever stay at either of these hotels and could provide some insight? I also considered Villa Franca, but it appears to be even higher up on the cliffside. All advice appreciated!

Hi travellers. Looking at staying in Positano during August - does anyone know if its possible to hire a boat to take us to a nice beach or swimming area for the day - rather than trying to squeeze into the busy main beaches??? I am assuming there are some smaller cute places along the coast where we could get away from the crowds maybe - but would need a boat (and driver obviously) to take us there. Possible??

Four of us will be in Positano in July, 2011 and would like to know the best way to get to Naples. I know that we can hire a driver for around 100 euros but is there a way to travel by ferry or hydrofoil? I can't seem to pull up any schedules at this time. The website for the hydrofoils seems to be shut down. We would appreciate any information we can get.

We would like to know if there is a boat go directly from pasitano to naples? We are going there at the end of november with RCCL. It will save us a lot of time to be able to go back straight to the cruiseship after pompeii, sorrento and pasitano, thanks

Three ladies visiting Positano from Australia in October 2010 and looking for bus to take us from Positano to Salerno so we can catch train to Termini on Tuesday 12 October. We would prefer not to get the ferry to Salerno and do not want to get train through Naples. Can anyone help with relevant timetable? We would like to get the 11.32am train from Salerno to Termini.

We are thinking of driving from Positano to the Cinque Terra region. I would be interested in people's thoughts. How long a drive is that? Is it easy to rent a car in Positano or would I be better advised to get to Sorrento or Naples to do that?
Thank you in advance for your comments.
