| Hainan Sheng | Any general Suggestions about Hainan welcomed Posted: Fri February 8, 2008 10:11 AM UTC
Hello VTs,
in May we (7 People) are planning a 5-day Holiday on Hainan Island/China. I would like to get a draft orientation of the Island. Which direction (North, South, East, West...) is recommended for a beautiful beach Holiday? We are looking for places with less Western Toursits and Hotel prices at local level. Our tour starts in Guanzhou Area. How can we get to Hainan from Guanzhou when NOT using Plan or Bus? We prefer either Train or Boat. Any recommendations? Thanks for your suggestions and experiences. By the way, I speak fluent Cantonese, so communication should not be a problem... Ciao, Baldur |

| Sanya | How could I go to downtown/Dai Dong Hai Bay area from Kempinski Hotel by public transport? Posted: Fri August 31, 2007 02:11 AM UTC
I'm thinking of staying in the newly built Kempinski Hotel this Christmas. But since the hotel doesn't provide any shuttle bus service, does any one know if there's any public bus running to and from the Kempinski Hotel area to downtown of Sanya and to Dai Dong Hai Bay also (cos I want to go to the 'Spring Garden' seafood market for meals)? May I know the bus no. and is it running frequently? Is the bus stop near the Hotel? And is the same bus no. going back to Kempinski Hotel area also? Where should I take it when I am in downtown?
Besides, any good massage centre (traditional chinese massage and not spa)in downtown also? What's the name and how do they charge? Many thanks! |

Can you recommend me a reliable Haikou travel agency or tour guide that can bring me to explore Haikou Shishan Volcanic Cluster Park? I want to take photos of Shishan's volcanic caves, Ma'anling crater and the ancient houses made of basalt. How do i get to Shishan Volcanic Cluster Park if no one helped me? I will be in Haikou on June 26 afternoon to June 28 morning, coming from Sanya. Flying off to Shenzhen from Haikou on June 28 by Shandong Airlines. I only have half a day for exploring Shishan. Hi everyone,
I am looking into Sanya for a weekend getaway in 2 week's time.. What's the weather like these days though, it's rainy in HK so I'm worried it will be quite similar in Sanya as well.....? I don't mind cloudy but rainy is no good as we won't be able to sit by the pool at all! Thanks! |

| Hainan Dao | Free and easy vs tour package Posted: Mon May 28, 2007 05:43 PM UTC
Hi,
I am wondering if I should book a package from Singapore or just book hotels / rent car / take public transport and go whereever i want to etc. is there a suggested route to take to make the most of my 7-8 days there? Can anyone advise is it easy to take public transport or better to rent a car ? and how much for both modes. Understood the hotel rate quoted usually are rack rates which can go much lower depending on season. How much would be the average 3-4 stars hotels around sanya or haikou around mid-june ? thanks. |

| Sanya | How much do New Balance and Reebok black shoes cost in Sanya and Haikou? Posted: Sat May 26, 2007 02:42 PM UTC
Hi, Sanya VT,
I understand that Singapore imports New Balance and Reebok shoes from China and the selling prices cover the import taxes and delivery costs. In Haikou and Sanya, are the selling prices of the same brand shoes lower than in Singapore? How much do they cost? Where to find these shoes? Does anyone know? I am planning to go to Hainan again but direct flight to Haikou costs a lot!!! I would be routing via Macau and Shenzhen instead. Chyan |

| Hainan Dao | weather in Hainan island Posted: Wed May 16, 2007 05:34 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
just wondering if anyone can tell me how bad the weather is likley to be in Hainan in last week of June. Would not be my favourite time to travel but we are coming to China for a wedding so don't have much choice. Is it worth risking it for three/fours days in Hainan (are we likely to get any good weather at all?) or would it be more sensible to go somewhere else (thinking of Guilin/Yangshou). Do not want to be stuck on beach in rain with nothing to do! Thanks Thea |

| Sanya | suitability for family with 2 three year olds and advice Posted: Sun April 1, 2007 06:51 AM UTC
Dear all
we are considering sanya for the chinise may break. we have two three year olds.. we currently live in shanghai and we are orginally from the uk (south wales) our dilemer is that so far we have been offered 5 star hotels.. this should be adequate facilities etc but normaally if we were in europe we would never stay at 5 star hotels with kids - too posh.. (and the meals too expensive).. so. can anyone recommend some 3/4 star options and options that would be suitable for kids.? my son has just learned to swim and underwater., how clear are the seas /beaches and is the water still or does it have waves.. in otherwords will he be able to see fish under the water from the beach without a trip? |

Dear fellow VTers,
I will be making my way from Zhuhai (crossing over from Macau) to Haikou via the long distance bus (understand it's 19hours). Would appreciate if you can assist/advise on the following : 1) The bus schedule from Zhuhai to Haikou 2) The bus fare from Zhuhai to Haikou 3) Do we need to take the ferry, crossing over to Haikou or the long distance bus will cross a bridge over to Haikou. 4) I intend to visit Sanya/Haikou/Xinglong/Wenchang/Xincun/Tongzha/Nanshan. Is there any of the places mentioned that i should give it a miss or is there any other places of interests that i should go to? 5) Any suggestion on how my routes should be? Thanks. ..feejin |
