Does anyone know if shops in Chengdu sell international brands for thermal wear (base layer)? I read that most international companies have their products made in China.
Hello,
I read that you could book a night at the monasteries on your way up Mnt. Emei. Is there some way to go about doing this? I really want to see the sunrise, so which one should I stay at? Most of all, I am just curious how you go about booking space :)
I know that October is probably the best time to visit Jiuzhaigou the autumn foliage making it even more beautiful but the thoughts of the crowds is rather intimidating and i want to take photographs can be hard with people pushing around.
So i thought of compromising maybe in June or Early November (is that still the super peak?)
Any opinions 1 way or the other? Appreciate the inputs.
I shall be in Chengdu on a Saturday, in early Dec. I am thinking of buying tickets to Jiuzhaigou from Ctrip at the airport, hopefully tickets for the next day, that is Sunday.
My question is, is it better that I fly to Jiuzhaigou on that Sunday or should I only go on Monday etc, that is weekday?
Maybe that are more events held on a Sunday night?
I plan to spend 8 days in Chengdu and Lhasa. Will it be a rush? I am not particularly keen on visiting temples so I will only include one at the most. I will also only spend a day at Mt. Emei. But visiting the pandas is a must.
How many days should I spend in Lhasa at least and what is the current group tour price?

It costs 220yuan for a single entry but with student card you got 50yuan less. Has another used the International Student Card for buying a ticket? I just wonder if they recognize this card. thanks.
For us living within the tropics, experiencing snow falls is exciting. But we were told that it is Nature's calls as weather predictions could be wrong. How true! The last time we visited JZG in late November. The night before there was snow fall but in the morning it was bright and sunny! This time we want to travel to Chengdu and catch the snow in Xiling Snow Mountain.
Can fellow travellers tell us more about Xiling Snow Mountain? Are there tours from the city to the mountain? Can we stay there overnight? Thank you in advance.
Hello,
I'm trying to go from Chengdu to Leshan. Our Lonely Planet guide is as about 1-2 years old. It suggests taking a 2 hour bus ride, but also says that there is a high speed train that is nearing completion. Does anyone know if this train line is complete?
I heard that there is a hakka village in Chengdu. How far is it from the city? Is it worth a visit? I'm going to Chengdu with my extended family and we have a group of 10 people. Can anyone recommend me a place where i can rent a minibus with a driver who can ferry us to all the places of interest? Thanks a lot.
do anyone know any car hire company in leshan city? i hope they can speak some english .i want to be picked up at chengdu airport arriving in leshan. any info is appreciated.
Hi There,
My trip to yunnan/sichuan is confirmed in the month of october.
I'm planning to visit daocheng/yading. Is yading open to visitors in october?
What is the best time to go there, early october or mid october? I would like to see the autumn vistas with yellow/red leaves.
My route will be from zhongdian to daocheng to yading and backtrack to kunming.
I'm heading to yuanyang after kunming.
I understand that there's some sights to visit along the route from daocheng to litang/kangding and chengdu but it seems that this route will take up more days.
anybody know a nice quiet romantic place to prospose to someone in Leshan city? some settings in the giant statue has some nice areas inside but there is alot of people unless you go there super early when no one is there yet. any place that is quiet and uninterupted by people looking or curious is great. maybe like a park or some outside scenery areas?? i want it to be private and romantic as it should be when prosposing to someone. any suggesstions is appreciated. We're going to Jiuzhaigou at the end of October and wanted to stay 1-2 nights with a family in the park.
Has anyone tried this recently? I know it's not technically allowed but I heard that the authorities will tolerate it for very small groups (1-2 people).
Also, should we spend 2 or 3 full days in the park?

Is there anyone avaliable for October 4th and/or 5th to be a guide for 6 people to visit the pandas and The Big Buddah in Dafo? We are interested in local transportation and/or a driver.
Hi, this is my first post. I'm interested in visiting Jiuzhaigou, particularly in October as many people said it's best to view the scenery during autumn.
However, my father concerns about the weather, and wonders whether it's already snowing in October in Jiuzhaigou?
I was recently watching an episode of Samantha Brown's passport to China on the travel channel and while in Chengdu she went to a Sichuan Opera which had an open air theater. I am trying to figure out the name of this theater and where it is located. If anyone can help me please let me know. They were doing the face changing and comedy, puppets, fire blowing, there were people giving massages to the audience and selling drinks and snacks. Any information is welcome! Thanks so much!
