Which beach to stay at? Posted: Tue March 24, 2009 08:30 AM UTC
We will arrive in Ko Samui Thursday and am wondering which beach to stay on? My wife and I would like a beachfront hut (nothing fancy) where we can just lounge around for a few days, preferrably at a shallow, clear beach with not too many people.
With that said I'm ruling out Chaweng as our base but will visit. What do you think would be the best beach for this?
South Lamai, Manaem, Bo Phut, Big Buddha? And why?
Any beachfront hut recommendations along with the beach?

Koh Samui in late May/Early June Posted: Mon March 23, 2009 11:48 AM UTC
What's Samui like in late May/Early June? Is the weather okay and is the place generally busy or quiet?
We were there last September so don't mind occassional showers but don't really fancy the idea of days of rain etc.
Thanks :)

Simple Accommodation in quiet location Posted: Fri March 6, 2009 11:42 PM UTC
Hi there!
Can anyone recommend simple Accommodation in Ko Samui for 2 adults and 3 younger children. We would like to be a bit away from the parties and nightlife and the most important part is a beautiful beach for swimming and snorkelling. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks, Eva

Ko Samui, Ko Samet or Ko Tao for a family? Posted: Fri March 6, 2009 06:02 AM UTC
I included Ko Samui to our trip this August with my family (2 adults, 3 kids). After reading the reviews on Ko Samui I wonder if it is a bit too commercial for us. Which island would you recommend for a family with small kids (9, 7 & 4)? We would love just to enjoy the beach (without sellers to hassle us) and snorkel. Thanks for your help. Eva

has anyone stayed at Chaweng Garden beach resort? Posted: Mon February 16, 2009 04:12 AM UTC
HI
just hoping someone can help me here. Has anyone stayed in this hotel? I really need to know if the resort is actually on the beach and if it opens out to the beach. Do they have sun lounges?
We normally stay at another hotel in samui but this one is well priced so was thinking of trying something new
any help is appreciated!
cheers

Koh Samui/Koh Phangan Posted: Sun February 8, 2009 01:20 AM UTC
Hi there,
I'm going to Thailand for first time in late March, and I'm planning to spend a few days in Koh Samui/Koh Phangan and have a few questions about where to stay/what to do. Basically purpose of the time is to let my hair down, get some rays, eat some nice food, have some drinks and if there's anything well worth seeing/doing I'll do it.
Not sure how best to apportion time, my current plan is to spend a day or so on Koh Samui, then go over to Phangan as it seems to have more of a party atmosphere. Also, I'm travelling alone, and from what I can tell KP is better suited to solo travellers (who are up for a bit of a party). Would be leaving KP a good few days before the Full Moon Party, which doesn't bother me as it doesn't look like a good night for solo p*ssheads anyway.
SO, can anyone tell me if this is a sensible plan? What's worth seeing/doing, and how much accommodation should I book in advance? Finally, not done the solo thing before - how easy is it to meet people? Can anyone recommend anywhere that's good for meeting people(somewhere that's not just full of Brits)?
Many thanks,
Rod

Koh Samui or Phuket? Posted: Sun December 28, 2008 04:16 PM UTC
We are a group of six male twens and want to spent next winter in Thailand. Which site would you recommend? Partying should be part and parcel of the journey, but we also want to do some sightseeing. None of us is interested to sunbath whole day and we definitely do not want to be "captured" in club areas all the time.
So what do you recommend? Or do you recommend other sites (also outside of Thailand)?

Surat Thani, waiting for the Ferry at night? Posted: Fri December 26, 2008 11:24 AM UTC
Hello
We will be coming from Surat Thani to Ko Samui on the first ferry in the morning. We will be hanging around in Surat Thani from 23:30 at night until the first ferry in the morning. Is it best to stay at a bar restaurant or should we make our way to where the ferry departs from and wait there?
Issue being where is safest?

Where to stay Posted: Fri December 5, 2008 06:18 PM UTC
Hi fellow virtual tourists!!
We stayed in Phuket, Patong Bay Garden Resort on Patong in February for just over 2 weeks and loved it. We were not bothered with Bangla Road and stayed to Coyotes, Molly Malones, The Savoy Restaurant and our own Hotel.
We are going to try Koh Samui later January for hopefully ten days and then pop to Patong for 5/6 days.
Can you suggest where we should stay on Chaweng Beach? We are interested in Bed & Breakfast, as close to the beach as possible and not more than 5 minute walk to the bars and restaurants. We would like spa or at least massage by the hotel too.
Look forward to your suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Qsignature Posted: Thu November 27, 2008 04:13 AM UTC
Hi all,
I saw this place on one of those cable Tv shows that sell everything! don't ask why I was watching it!! I was wondering if anyone can give me some feedback on the place. The wife and i are looking to go somewhere next xmas (2009) and are thinking of Ko Samui. We're after somewhere quiet but within reach of shopping (retail therapy for the wife) and some of the nightlife but we don't want to be in the middle of it. This place seems to tick a lot of the boxes for us.
Many thanks fro your help.

Accommodation Costs - can you haggle prices down Posted: Tue November 4, 2008 06:42 PM UTC
A few people I have spoken to tell me Thailand in general is pretty quiet at the moment as less people are travelling due to saving money and the economic crisis. We're out there in December.
Do you think we can haggle the prices down on accommodation or are resorts sticking to their guns and trying to still get top dollar (i.e. the web prices)
With the £/bht rate being so poor everything is that little bit more expensive at the moment.
