| Ko Samui | Info please...... Posted: Tue February 26, 2008 03:01 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
We're going to Ko Samui as part of our honeymoon in a couple of weeks. We're staying at a Bophut resort. Can anyone advise what the best way to get around the island is? Is it the same as other parts of Thailand - tuk tuk?? Also we want to see the Big Buddha and the famous rocks while we're there, are they far from Bophut where we're staying? Cheers Rach : ) |

| Ko Samui | Elephants! Posted: Tue February 12, 2008 07:44 PM UTC
Hi, will be going to Ko Samui in a few weeks time, and wanted to know if I could see any elephants? I love these animals and would like to know if they do rides? Are they well looked after and treated well too? I couldn't go to a place if they were badly treated either, as I would be too traumatised. Thanks for any replies.....

| Ko Samui | The Waterfront Bophut. Any info please Posted: Sun February 10, 2008 10:23 AM UTC
Hi,
We have read a huge amount of reviews about this hotel on other forums. Most of them were excelleant. However recent ones were negative and inferred that others may be inaccurate or indeed may have involved some input of the owners (being diplomatic here). Just wondered if anybody had ever stayed there. Many thanks Charlotte |

| Ko Samui | Has anyone ever stayed at Jariya Bungalow? Posted: Sun January 20, 2008 10:39 AM UTC
I found this website (http://www.jariyasamui.com/). I found the website quite by chance (can't really remember how, I was drunk) and noticed the check-in dates are for two to three years ago. The rates seem reasonable enough, anyone know anything?
Incidentally location wise, it's on the northwest of the island on Bang Po beach. Cheers, Jim |

| Ko Samui | hotels in Chaweng beach Posted: Sun December 30, 2007 05:41 AM UTC
Hello all,
I will be travelling to Koh Samui on the first week of February. I did some research on the hotels there. I'm looking for a relativly good hotel that is not very expensive. It seems like it is a busy season and most hotels/resorts I contact are fully booked. Initially I wanted to rent out a bungalow, but no availability. I narrowed it down to 2 hotels: Montien House and Seascape beach resort. Does anyone know anything about those hotels? are they good enough to spend a week in? Also, is there really much of a difference between living in a bungalow or a a regular room? Anyone's help is greatly appreciated. |

| Ko Samui | Samui hotel... Posted: Fri November 30, 2007 12:58 AM UTC
Does anyone out there have any ideas on a nice private hotel in either Chaweng or Lamai Beach? I've previously stayed at the Amari Palm Reef and Central Samui Beach Resort which were both nice but a little too formal, especially at 02:00 in the morning. I would quite like the facility of a pool but what I really want is a little freedom without the prying eyes. I plan to go for two weeks in February 08' any advice would be appreciated, regards Phil.

| Ko Samui | baanlamai resort and hathai house in lamai Posted: Thu November 22, 2007 03:23 AM UTC
Has anyone stayed at the bannlamai resort in lamai? I think it is a small new resort with 20 bungalows . Do you know how it looks like (rooms and bathrooms) as well as the location:
How far away are you from one of these places: Banhaus or Lamai Wanta or Mac Donald or Thai boxing stadium or bar entertainment area. For instance: How far are you from Bauhaus pub (200m, 500 meters 1km) Has anyone stayed at hatthai house in lamai? How are the rooms and bathrooms? |

| Ko Samui | Samui declared disaster zone after heavy rain Posted: Thu November 8, 2007 02:50 PM UTC
BREAKING NEWS
(BangkokPost.com) - Samui island is declared disaster zone on Thursday after it was hit by heavy rain the night before. The rain caused flood in several locations. Water level on the main road is at 30 centimetre high. Hundreds of tourists are left stranded as weather condition prevented aircrafts from taking off since late Wednesday. Authorities are trying to pump water into river to alleviate the problem and prevent further flooding if rain comes again. Surat Thani provincial office sent 170 soldiers into the island to assist locals and tourists. I have posted this as a warning to people about to go to Samui and as a message of support to those who are there suffering the impact of thie - good luck to you all. I hope things recover soon.
