Driver in Ko Samui wanted please Posted: Mon June 15, 2009 10:01 AM UTC
Hi, Will be travelling to Ko Samui some time next year and staying at the Arayaburi Boutique Resort. Ive been told that it is isolated there and hard to get to anything and that taxis are too expensive so I was wondering if anyone has the contact of a good reliable driver that we might be able to use. We will be there for 7 nights. Hope someone can help

Nova Samui Hotel Posted: Thu June 11, 2009 05:34 PM UTC
Has anyone any views on this hotel? I'm looking at going for Songkran next year and I can get a good deal here but as it's located by Samui Lake, just wondered if it's too far away from the Beach area.
Many thanks

Single travelling, koh samui/koh phangan advice?! Posted: Thu May 21, 2009 09:13 PM UTC
I am a single female travelling to Koh Samui for a few weeks at the beginning of July...i'm after any advice anyone can give me really! Where is best to stay? Somewhere cheap, friendly (possibly to meet some like-minded people!) and by the beach. A lot of places seem to be set up for familes/couples and i'd rather meet other groups/single travellers.
I would love to take a dive course out there however have been told Koh Phangan may be best for this...there is a full moon party on the 9th July which i could combine for a few days before heading back to Koh Samui (is there a ferry??). What are people thoughts??!
I'm open to any suggestions.
Thank you :)

First time to Ko Samui - need help Posted: Tue May 19, 2009 08:35 AM UTC
Hi,
I and my family from India (8 passengers - 6 people over age group of 55 and myself and the 3 month pregnant wife (aged 27 and 26 respectively) are travelling to Koh Samui from Phuket via Bangkok Airways. We will be staying at Prana resort on Bang Rak beach, Bophut
We would be arriving in 1st week of June and would be in Koh Samui for 3 days. Needed help with the following tentative itinerary
Day 1 - Reach hotel at approximately 11.30 (How far is this place from the hotel ? What will be the best mode, considering there are 8 travellers and equal baggages? )
Day 2 - planning a trip to ang thong. (what can be the expected costs ? With a pregnant wife, is it advisable to go via speed boat ? What tour can be recommended ? For 8 people, what kind of bargaining would be possible ?, any reliable tour operator suggestions ? any extra costs ? snorkelling gear, entry fees if any included ?
Day 3 - was planning a day trip ( was thinking of ungs magical safari full day - prices on website says 1700 baht. how is the review ? anything else i should keep in mind/ any other reliable tour operator ?)
Other things i needed some help with are
1. Being pure vegetarians , what would be the food options possible for us. Any good places to eat vegetarian food/ indian food ?
2.Regarding beach activities like jet ski, parasailing etc, what would be the best place and going rate ?
3. a good massage parlour recommendation (spa may be too tight for the pocket, considering 8 ppl, but a warm, nice hygienic massage parlour recommendation is welcome)
would appreciate some light on the above topics

Good hotel for kids? Posted: Thu March 26, 2009 02:23 AM UTC
Hi all,
We're hoping to get back to Samui at the end of the year with our 2 kids (toddler & 1yold), and are wondering if anyone has any suggestions of good places to stay in Chaweng. For a price range, we've previously have stayed at Baan Samui twice, but I think they're only good for 1 kid.
Cheers heaps

Which beach to stay at? Posted: Tue March 24, 2009 07:30 AM UTC
We will arrive in Ko Samui Thursday and am wondering which beach to stay on? My wife and I would like a beachfront hut (nothing fancy) where we can just lounge around for a few days, preferrably at a shallow, clear beach with not too many people.
With that said I'm ruling out Chaweng as our base but will visit. What do you think would be the best beach for this?
South Lamai, Manaem, Bo Phut, Big Buddha? And why?
Any beachfront hut recommendations along with the beach?

Koh Samui in late May/Early June Posted: Mon March 23, 2009 10:48 AM UTC
What's Samui like in late May/Early June? Is the weather okay and is the place generally busy or quiet?
We were there last September so don't mind occassional showers but don't really fancy the idea of days of rain etc.
Thanks :)

Ko Samui, Ko Samet or Ko Tao for a family? Posted: Fri March 6, 2009 05:02 AM UTC
I included Ko Samui to our trip this August with my family (2 adults, 3 kids). After reading the reviews on Ko Samui I wonder if it is a bit too commercial for us. Which island would you recommend for a family with small kids (9, 7 & 4)? We would love just to enjoy the beach (without sellers to hassle us) and snorkel. Thanks for your help. Eva

Koh Samui/Koh Phangan Posted: Sun February 8, 2009 12:20 AM UTC
Hi there,
I'm going to Thailand for first time in late March, and I'm planning to spend a few days in Koh Samui/Koh Phangan and have a few questions about where to stay/what to do. Basically purpose of the time is to let my hair down, get some rays, eat some nice food, have some drinks and if there's anything well worth seeing/doing I'll do it.
Not sure how best to apportion time, my current plan is to spend a day or so on Koh Samui, then go over to Phangan as it seems to have more of a party atmosphere. Also, I'm travelling alone, and from what I can tell KP is better suited to solo travellers (who are up for a bit of a party). Would be leaving KP a good few days before the Full Moon Party, which doesn't bother me as it doesn't look like a good night for solo p*ssheads anyway.
SO, can anyone tell me if this is a sensible plan? What's worth seeing/doing, and how much accommodation should I book in advance? Finally, not done the solo thing before - how easy is it to meet people? Can anyone recommend anywhere that's good for meeting people(somewhere that's not just full of Brits)?
Many thanks,
Rod
