Ko Samui Questions Posted: Wed November 4, 2009 12:43 AM UTC
Hi I am heading back to Ko Saumi in November 2010 to celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary.
Last time we were there it was July. I understand November is the wet season but I was wondering what the weather is generally like? Does it rain all the time or is there sunshine and heavy downfalls?
I was also wondering what people may suggest as must see's. We did alot of the the tourist stuff last time but I am sure we missed things.
Looking forward to your replies

Night Beach Dining - Chaweng Posted: Tue September 8, 2009 11:00 PM UTC
Does anyone have any recommendations on restaurants on the beach?
I've seen some awesome photos of evening beach dining, and wonder if anyone has any cheap recommendations. I'm not after anything pricey/posh, just standard thai food on the beach.

Yup, problem with online booking. I am an idiot Posted: Mon September 7, 2009 01:19 AM UTC
Two months ago I used kohsamui.com to book a reservation with the Tango beach resort. Everything was confirmed and payment was made.
Yesterday I get a phone call from a friend who is also going, who was told by the Tango that there was a problem with my booking.
Apparently Kohsamui.com are bad payers and so the Tango does not work with them. There had obviously been contact between the two because the Tango knew my full name and all my booking details. They even knew that payment had been made.
However they are saying that they NEVER made any confirmation (I have emails from kohsamui.com saying that they had).
So my question, is there any way of getting my money back from kohsamui.com or ensuring that they pass on my booking fee to the Tango? If they don't comply can I cancel and get anything back even though payment has been paid?
I am at a loss, if anyone has dealt with kohsamui.com before I will be very happy to hear of your experiences.
Thanks

Ferry-Bus Service From Samui - Bangkok Posted: Sat August 29, 2009 01:55 PM UTC
My friend told me about Ferry-Bus Service From Samui - Bangkok (1 stop service). She recommended SEATRANS service for me. I'm wondered if this company will service only foreigner or Thai too? Are there any company service? and how much does it cost. Because I will travel alone back from Samui to Bangkok.

Mercure Samui Fenix Posted: Fri July 10, 2009 12:04 AM UTC
Can anyone tell me something about this resort? I can't find any reviews as it has recently reopened. It was formerly called Samui Park and Novotel (Mercure) took over management and apparently has gone through renovations since sometime in 2007. I am looking at staying here due to a good rate but skeptical due to previous reviews from its former management. It is in the Lamai area. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Help with hotel recommendation Posted: Mon July 6, 2009 12:46 PM UTC
Hi there,
We are two families that are planning a trip to Koh Samui in October and we’re considering staying at Kalara Gardens at Bang Por. I couldn’t find any information about it here on VT (amazing I know!!) so I’m wondering if anyone of you VT’ers has heard of it?
The suggestions we have so far are:
Kalara Garden
Koh Samui Resort
Coconut-Tropicana
Many thanks!

Driver in Ko Samui wanted please Posted: Mon June 15, 2009 11:01 AM UTC
Hi, Will be travelling to Ko Samui some time next year and staying at the Arayaburi Boutique Resort. Ive been told that it is isolated there and hard to get to anything and that taxis are too expensive so I was wondering if anyone has the contact of a good reliable driver that we might be able to use. We will be there for 7 nights. Hope someone can help

Nova Samui Hotel Posted: Thu June 11, 2009 06:34 PM UTC
Has anyone any views on this hotel? I'm looking at going for Songkran next year and I can get a good deal here but as it's located by Samui Lake, just wondered if it's too far away from the Beach area.
Many thanks

Single travelling, koh samui/koh phangan advice?! Posted: Thu May 21, 2009 10:13 PM UTC
I am a single female travelling to Koh Samui for a few weeks at the beginning of July...i'm after any advice anyone can give me really! Where is best to stay? Somewhere cheap, friendly (possibly to meet some like-minded people!) and by the beach. A lot of places seem to be set up for familes/couples and i'd rather meet other groups/single travellers.
I would love to take a dive course out there however have been told Koh Phangan may be best for this...there is a full moon party on the 9th July which i could combine for a few days before heading back to Koh Samui (is there a ferry??). What are people thoughts??!
I'm open to any suggestions.
Thank you :)

First time to Ko Samui - need help Posted: Tue May 19, 2009 09:35 AM UTC
Hi,
I and my family from India (8 passengers - 6 people over age group of 55 and myself and the 3 month pregnant wife (aged 27 and 26 respectively) are travelling to Koh Samui from Phuket via Bangkok Airways. We will be staying at Prana resort on Bang Rak beach, Bophut
We would be arriving in 1st week of June and would be in Koh Samui for 3 days. Needed help with the following tentative itinerary
Day 1 - Reach hotel at approximately 11.30 (How far is this place from the hotel ? What will be the best mode, considering there are 8 travellers and equal baggages? )
Day 2 - planning a trip to ang thong. (what can be the expected costs ? With a pregnant wife, is it advisable to go via speed boat ? What tour can be recommended ? For 8 people, what kind of bargaining would be possible ?, any reliable tour operator suggestions ? any extra costs ? snorkelling gear, entry fees if any included ?
Day 3 - was planning a day trip ( was thinking of ungs magical safari full day - prices on website says 1700 baht. how is the review ? anything else i should keep in mind/ any other reliable tour operator ?)
Other things i needed some help with are
1. Being pure vegetarians , what would be the food options possible for us. Any good places to eat vegetarian food/ indian food ?
2.Regarding beach activities like jet ski, parasailing etc, what would be the best place and going rate ?
3. a good massage parlour recommendation (spa may be too tight for the pocket, considering 8 ppl, but a warm, nice hygienic massage parlour recommendation is welcome)
would appreciate some light on the above topics

Good hotel for kids? Posted: Thu March 26, 2009 03:23 AM UTC
Hi all,
We're hoping to get back to Samui at the end of the year with our 2 kids (toddler & 1yold), and are wondering if anyone has any suggestions of good places to stay in Chaweng. For a price range, we've previously have stayed at Baan Samui twice, but I think they're only good for 1 kid.
Cheers heaps
