Ko Chang Is the Treehouse on Lonely Beach still open?
Posted: Fri December 22, 2006 12:39 AM UTC
I spent a few weeks on Lonely Beach back in March, and remember there being talk of the Treehouse closing down. Although I wasn't staying in their huts, I found the place along with Nature Rocks a fun place to hang out in the evenings. Does anyone know if the Treehouse on Lonely Beach is still open, and, if possible, for how long ? (am thinking of going back in January!)

Ko Chang Klong Prao Beach + Klong Prao Resort?
Posted: Sun November 19, 2006 08:59 AM UTC
Hi!
Any info about Klong Prao Beach (I think it is the next beach to south from White sand beach)?
How is the water here? Clean? Clear? Nice and blue? is it very deep or shallow/save to swim?
And how is the ocean in July? very strong waves/currents?

Is there any shops + tailors + restaurants near Klong Prao?

Any comments about the hotel Klong Prao resort?

Ko Chang Ko Mak & Ko Kood
Posted: Fri November 10, 2006 10:01 AM UTC
I've heared many good things about these two island but I have problems finding transportation from Bangkok. Well, I know I can take the bus down to one of the quays, but I don't know how to get out to Ko Mak or Ko Kood. I see that resort hotels offer speedboat service. Would it be best to buy such a package or are there ferries to these islands?
And when I got your attention; any recommendations for hotels/bungalows? A friend told me many good things about Shambala Resort on Ko Kood.
I will be there in mid November.
Best wishes,
Anders

Ko Chang Question about beaches on Koh Chang
Posted: Tue October 17, 2006 05:33 AM UTC
Hi

My wife and I are thinking about going to Thailand next year and since we have been to Phuket, Samui, Krabi, Hua Hin etc we would like to try something new and we have been looking at Koh Chang. But when we started reading about this island we found different opinions about the beaches. What are the beaches of Koh Chang like? What is the sand quality like? Is is great for taking a swim? Or is it to shallow? Would love to hear from someone that has been there and that have personal experience.

Ko Chang time rush..
Posted: Sun October 15, 2006 02:27 PM UTC
The plane i be taking will arrive Suvarnabhumi Airport at 12.15pm and i guess i would be out and ready to board a bus or minivan around 1.15pm

I would like to take a bus or minivan ...instead of the plane to save cost..

From what i know the last ferry to koh chang is from centrepoint pier at 1900hrs..I would like to catch the last ferry...

If that is not possible, I would like to take a speedboat or private ferry to there for less than 500 Baht...

any idea how long i would reach the pier from Suvarnabhumi Airport? will i get there in time to catch the last ferry if i leave at 2pm latest if unlucky??

Posted: Thu August 10, 2006 02:19 PM UTC
We are planning to go to Koh Chang end of Jan. 2007 for the 1st time. Can anyone recommend the place to stay is kids friendly, with swimming pool, quiet but not far from everything (restaurants, mini shops...).

We will fly from BKK to Trat since we are travelling with kids. How far is from the airport to the pier? Can anyone give me some information if we will take the plane? How to reach the island from the Trat airport? Appreciated any tip for our first visit. Thanks a lot.

Ko Chang rainfall in Ko Chang
Posted: Wed June 21, 2006 04:38 PM UTC
I have just booked some flights to Bangkok leaving on the 22 July and hope to travel down to Ko Chang around the last week of July/ First week of August. How affected would I be by rainfall? My boyfriend has never been to Thailand before and he is hoping for sunshine. I went to Ko Samet in the Gulf around 6 years ago in August and was hardly affected by rain at all. Can I expect the same sort of weather in Ko Chang or should I look for some where else??

Ko Chang Advice on price and accommodation required
Posted: Mon June 5, 2006 05:10 AM UTC
Hi,

We are heading to Ko Chang (the one near Trat)in the next few weeks and are looking for good value accomodation, we don't really want to spend more than 600 baht for a double with private bathroom.

What will the weather be like in June, will we need air con?

The Lonely Planet makes it look a bit expensive, does the price drop in the low season and am I going in the low season??

Thanks

Ko Chang Maggies Place
Posted: Wed May 3, 2006 09:29 PM UTC
Am going to Thailand on May 12th and was wondering if anyone had any information on Maggies Place (Guesthouse/treehouse) on Lonely Beach, Ko Chang ?

Stayed there in Jan 2005 and heard she was closing due to pressure from landowner (Ko Chang was being rapidly converted into a tourist hotspot a la "Phuket style"

Anyone out there know if the treehouse is still open for business ?
