what is the easiest way to get to chiang khong from bangkok, please. if by bus, from which bus station, which company and at what time and any other ideas/details would be appreciated bt a geriatric backpacker!

Hi, i want to travel from thailand to Laos via the Mekong at Chiang Khong. Is it possible to get a visa at that place??? If yes, do we have to wait long ( hours or Days)???
I will be there around the 2nd january 04.... |
