Hat Yai ... 1st timer Posted: Wed February 18, 2009 01:50 AM UTC
Hi all,
I am planning a short 3 days 2 night trip, trip to Hat Yai ... next week,
Planning to take a night bus to Hat Yai from Kuala Lumpur:
Question:
1. Can I purchase a return bus ticket to KL or do I need to purchase it from Hat Yai?
2. I notice Lee Garden Hotel has been mentioned a couple of times, is it central located? is there other hotels nearby (I am looking at below 1000bath a night)
3. What is the rate like for a simple room? I am planning to walk-in, instead of booking online, wanna be a bit adventurous (just joking)
3. what is there to do in Hat Yai?
thanks a bundle

VIP Bus From Hat Yai to Singapore Posted: Sat November 29, 2008 05:56 AM UTC
Riding Train from Bangkok to Hat Yai. I want to avoid a long layover in Hat Yai. How and where can I find a VIP Bus that goes straight on to Singapore? How often do they depart and from where? Are there express VIP buses that don't stop frequently en route? Can you advise a reputable place to book a seat on one of these VIP Buses? First time through Southern Thailand into Malaysia.

Advice on Driving to changloon for Hadyai duirng The Thai King's birthday 5/12/08 Posted: Mon November 10, 2008 11:13 PM UTC
HI,
My family and i ( 4 ladies & 2 kids) plan to visit hadyai during 5 Dec (Fri) - 7 Dec 08 (sun).
We plan to drive from Ipoh, park our car at Changloon and take a taxi to central Hatyai. here are my questions
1) 5/12/08 is Thai King's birthday. Do u think is trouble to travel in Hatyai ? as Thai very loyal to the King, will the markets / shops / restaurants close ?
Our itinerary is as follows
5/12 - 6am - 9am Ipoh - CHangloon
9am - 9.30am - buy hotel vcher, cross border by taxi
10.30am - arrive hatyai
6/12 - Hatyai
7/12 - leave hatyai at 10am
2) If this is considered as peak season, pls advise how possible i can hotel vcher at changloon.
3) Please advise how i can park my car at Changloon & proceed to buy vcher fr agent. Any reminder or recommendation ?
4) How much will be parking rate / day ? how much taxi fare to fro Hatyai?
5) I hv preference in Grand Plaza or Asian hotel. Pls advise
TQ

Hat Yai to Bangkok Posted: Mon October 20, 2008 04:19 AM UTC
Hi VT members
Will be traveling to Hat Yai from Phuket next month with my whole family of 5. Can anyone advice on apartment or condo stay, cause hotel's family room usually cater for only 3 bed and no cooking.
Where are the good eateries and roadside stalls in Hat Yai town that the locals go. Not the pricy ones that cater mainly for tourist.
Lastly can booking of train tickets from Hat Yai to Bangkok be made in advance.
Appreciate your comments.

Travelling to Hat Yai from Kuala Lumpur Posted: Sun October 12, 2008 05:12 AM UTC
Hi! I'm a noob here.
Planning to spend my Xmas in Hat Yai, and have booked 4 nights @ Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel (any comments?).
Have been pondering on the mode of travel. Since there’s no direct flight to Hat Yai from Kuala Lumpur, I guess I will have to make it there by land. These are my options: -
• Train
• Bus
• Self-drive
I’ve been told the train trip will take longer and it’s tiring. Traveling by bus is faster. Alternatively I could also drive all the way to Hat Yai, or drive to Penang and take the shuttle from Butterworth to Hat Yai.
Since I’ll be traveling with my family (wife & son), which mode of land travel would be best, and most comfortable?
Thanks in advance.

First time visit Hatyai Posted: Wed October 8, 2008 02:25 AM UTC
I will going to visit Hatyai at end of Oct 08. Since this is my first trip to Hatyai, I had several questions. Can I use the border-pass instead of passport since I borned in Perak. I check in the internet from Immigration department, that I can used the border-pass if dont have passport.
Secondly, I travel there by bus. Is the bus just stop at the border town and drop us at the travel agency office ? So we on our own, from the Sadao immigration check-point, we have to take taxi or bus to Hatyai ?

hat yai to hua hin Posted: Fri March 21, 2008 04:54 AM UTC
Hi
I'm traveling from Singapore to Hua Hin and for the first leg I'm using the VIP bus from Singapore to Hat Yai.
What would be the best way for the next leg.
Ive looked at the train which means a long wait and arriving at Hua Hin in the middle of the night.
I've been told there is a minivan but its a long way and would prefer a VIP bus.
Does anyone know if there are VIP buses and if so where do they leave from. times etc.
I should arrive in Hat Yai about 9.30am I'm told.
thanks in advance for any help.

Hat Yai to Surat Thani Posted: Wed March 5, 2008 02:23 PM UTC
I'll be going from KL to Koh Tao. Will be taking the night train from KL and will arrive in Hat Yai at 10.20am. How will I get to Surat Thani from there without waiting all day? I heard it's best to take the public bus. Does anybody have any information on that or a website where I can check the fare and timetables etc.? Any help will be appreciated :)

Re: Chinese New Year in Hat Yai
Posted: Sun September 16, 2007 10:29 AM UTC
I would advise caution in going to Hat Yai for Chinese New Year. There is still a lot of unrest going on down there, although we'll see what happens post-Ramadan to see whether the curfews will remain lifted and peace returns.
Hi
